This happened in our family back in January. It started with one kid and spread to the family within the first 24 hours. My daughter ended with influenza A and the rest of us had just the regular flu. Then the second round was a sinus infection and bronchitis. So yea for a whole month it was germ city in the house. Yuck. Get better soon Holderness Family. This soon will pass.

... 'the regular flu' IS influenza, literally the same thing, although of course you can have different symptoms and even different strains of influenza. That said, we've all been there
No influenza is a viral infection that attacks the respiratory system and the flu is the stomach flu
@@WhinyPaluza - technically the flu still IS short for influenza and the "stomach flu" is the now common term used for various gastrointestinitus that aren't related to the flu or influenza. Thank you for pointing out what she meant, and teaching me something because before your comment I had no idea that the stomach flu is not related at all to influenza, just a name coined, but not related! Thanks for clearing it up for me!

Great way to start the week! As a retired music teacher, I appreciate the wicked recorder skills, Penn. Also, as a retired music teacher, I developed some wicked antibodies being constantly exposed to all the sickness at school - I was sick only 3 times in a 32 year career. You think your house is a Petri dish, try the Band room!
Just thinking the same thing about the library I work in ... though, definitely jealous about the sick record. I'm thrilled to get through two years in a row without a significant respiratory ailment of some kind. (Current record is three years and counting. Fingers crossed! And washed. Always washed.)
I honestly thought that this was made February 2020 because of the coronavirus, but I realize about 3 days ago that this was made during the flu season last year!
I thought recorders were only for kids to make a lot of noise with while learning Mary had a little lamb. You have proven me wrong! 💕. You guys are hilarious!

The curse of the Creeping Crud is real. I went to Chik-Fil-A and there was this little boy, cute as a button, who was going from table to table introducing himself as “Ty-were.” He had a runny nose, puffy eyes, and was a little red around the gills. I shook his hand, even though my inner voice was screaming at me, “Don’t do it!!!” But, not wanting to appear the mean ogre, I shook “Ty-were’s” hand. After the handshake and “Ty-wer’s” retreat, I pulled out some hand sanitizer and thoroughly scrubbed it. This action garnered the same evil soccer moms looks that I would’ve received if I had told the little Petri dish to bugger off.
A few days later, I was at home with a sore throat, mild fever, chills, stomach issues, and basically feeling like warmed over death. It has spread through our home like wild fire. Part of me wants to go back to that Chik-Fil-A, wait for “Ty-wer”, and return his awesome gift; but, the better angels of my nature have made it impossible for me to move from this bed. So, here I lay, dying a certain slow phlemy death. On the positive side, I get to spend quality time with my family.
Thanks, “Ty-wer,”you’re awesome! I’d love to meet you again; but this time leave the Creepin’ Crud at home. ❤️

I wouldn't care about little germ factory's feelings, I don't need to catch bugs with my asthma. His mom should have been keeping him with her, not spending what he had around. And being sick, he should have been home anyway.

my brother got VERY sick at camp and i boarded off my room, lined the door with sanitizing wipes, never left my room, no one was aloud inside, closed the door, avoided him like the plague and always sanitized anything that came inside my room and even kept the sanitizing wipes by my door, and i didnt get sick! that's how you keep from getting sick
I love this so much. As kid (the dark ages of the 80s/90s) my doctor nicknamed me the "Poor Little Sick Girl" because I would be so ill and feel so gross, but the second my mom would bring me into the dr's office, I would get a burst of adrenaline and act completely normal (jump to sit on the seat, hop up on the dr chair w/o using the step stool...) but obviously I'd still have a fever, red throat, ears, etc. and once I'd get home, I'd be back to being sick.
I know how Kim feels, but I have asthma so when I get sick I’m down for 3 weeks. (Or at least 2) I get a runny nose and a fever and I’ll take medicine for that. Then after a few days and several tissue boxes it moves to my chest and I’m on breathing treatments for a while, it can take 2 weeks for the coughing to stop. And I hate being the first one sick in the house because just as I’m recovering I get it again and then I’m the last to get better. I know once you get sick with something you can’t get it again so whatever it is must mutate enough by going thru my family to get past my body’s sensors again.
*Disclamer: Reading this it sounds like I’m venting, which I am but I’m not super mad while typing this I’m just stating the facts.

A few weeks ago this happened in our family. My brother, Vincent, got strep throat and then he passed it to my mom. Thomas, my youngest brother, got it next and just when I thought I avoided it, I woke up achy and had to stay home for three days. I thought it was hard to make up for missing one day of school, but three? Oh boy, I might still be making stuff up when we get back from break. 😫🤧
This is my life right now. Love it perfect timing. Just watching this makes me feel better.

Yep, this is so true, unfortunately. There was one time when my sister and I were little, probably about 4 or 5 years old (We're twins), and the entire family got the flu. I had it, my sister had it, and both of my parents had it. All I remember is a lot of stink, neighbors bringing us casseroles/lasagnas etc., and my mom washing the sheets practically every few hours. Thankfully, this hasn't happened since then, since we are very diligent about getting flu shots now whenever it's flu season. My sister and I used to get the flu mist, but they stopped doing that either last year or two years ago.

Penn, your singing, as always, was spectacular! I hope you all get better quickly! Someone in the comments said something about flu shots. Personally, I have never had a flu shot and I've never had the flu! Every vaccination contains a little bit of whatever it's being used to prevent. That's how it teaches your body to fight it. Some people actually get the flu from the shot itself. Anyway, I love your videos, I love the songs, the acting, the whole thing! Keep doing what you do because you're amazing at it, all 5 of you!! Thank you-I laughed, I cried, I could relate to everything. My favorite is when people (older relatives who don’t have to take care of sick kids) say it’s good for kids to get sick because they will be healthy adults...then why do us adults get sick too?

I was sick with the flu last week. I have 3 kids and a husband and was not allowed to rest. Bam, my husband gets sick and the world is going to end. Ugh
