I'm sorry to milk a like you left on my comment weeks ago but, I love you for doing these. If it were not for you, I would not be able to sleep. You have a lot to be responsible for. Because of you, I get to spend more time with my wife and daughter. I also get to explore more of the world I am not supposed to be a part of, even though my wife and daughter are part of why I am here. Thank you from Japan, and hooray for 80s nostalgia. Pics and Portraits, I can't do it myself, but I hope you get your silver RUclips plaque. You deserve it more than the majority of the people I follow.
I worked in IT at this time and all those ratings and speed measurements were so important to us. And now who cares? Any computer will serve you now. Those VAX computers were so futuristic.
I remember when all of this tech was shiny and new! At the rate that technological progress is accelerating, it's only a matter of time before i wake up in the morning to a major new breakthrough product, and wind down at the end of the day with a Pics and Portraits retro vid of the same product.
25:44 the music vs the guy's voice ☠️ Edit: seriously this whole promo the music is doing waaaaaaaay too much. When the cutoff came i was relieved bahahha
it's more than strange seeing the future i looked forward to and dreamed about, saw surpassed, and so very very outdated by things i can carry in my pocket or work bag. and that will be left in the dust just as rapidly. the technology of today will look just as outdated - retro - to my grandchildren when they're my age.
College 1988: Learning AutoCAD on a brand-new IBM PS/2 with a tiny 12" monochrome monitor. Had to go buy my first 3.5" floppy disk - that you could carry in your shirt pocket! The price of that single floppy was probably the equivalent of $20 today.
I always find it amazing how when I watch old videos it teaches me how to properly speak. For example, That IBM commercial at the beginning 'we have advanced the state of the art'. It's amazing how we just kinda truncated that concept over the last few decades and now simply say that something is 'state of the art'. Like 'state of the art' is just some buzzword branding and not the actual current state of industry. I think we are slowly losing the ability to speak coherent and complete thoughts

Grateful people are my kind of people. I'm a big fan of people like you. I wish you all the best.

It won't be your grandchildren. It'll be you in about 10 years.
since this content is built for sleep, i think these videos would benefit from some level of a Low Pass filter applied. either way great channel!
Good stuff. Makes me yearn for the pre-internet days.
Corporate Film Producer “At 28:54,
I want you to give me a piece of music that sounds like Radioactivity by Kraftwerk.”
Thank you for posting 👍👍

IBM personal system II can not only draw bar graphs but it can do pie charts , line graphs, scatter plot, area graphs, and histograms!
Is that a young Jonathan Brandis!? 😮😢Wow!

@@dajandosmith4509 Yup, one of my favorite old Skool tv shows

I love the pleasant music backing up the video on flying machines meant to mutilate other human beings. Makes me so proud of our species

Crazy to see how far technology has come, like how we have AI now. Just wow😮
It's not real AI so... they cheated. That's not a milestone we've gotten to yet.
3 MB of ram. Wow sign me up
Sadly much of the early stage computer hardware ended up in landfills.
