Sly and the family stone, were b4 their time. Just go back and listen to the lyrics to many of their songs. Today so much of their music is sample for commercials and movies. Music with a message.

I have known every word to this song since I was a 4 year old little girl in my hometown of Atlanta, GA. I was 4 years old in 1970. This song is the Truth. To this day, it is in my Top 5 favorite songs. It's sits at #1 alongside Let It Be by The Beatles and I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing (In Perfect Harmony) by The New Seekers. Diversity, what's unique and different about each and every single one of us, that is what makes us all special. I wish radio stations all over the US would put this song back in their rotation on their daily Playlist. We do need this message now more than ever. 💝 ~ April Lipke

Whoever has heard of Woodstock (i.e., I am sure many of us have) would be interested to know of another festival, the recording of which sat in a basement for 50 years, was celebrated that same summer of '69, Summer of Soul [see Disney Plus, Summer of Soul (2021), or view by any means]. This song captures the essence of what that festival (i.e., The Harlem Cultural Festival) was all about, in my opinion. My class (Popular Music and Society) had just written a response to the film for an assignment. I was taken back when I was given this assignment, because I had never heard of the Harlem Cultural Festival. Why!
