Anti-woke is just woke in a mirror. There just wasn't an internet back then. I don't want a sequel. I want normal. Let everyone do their own thing. If you don't like it, don't buy it. It's a self-correcting system that requires no preaching or screaming, and zero effort.
All "Woke" means is fighting racism and sexism with more racism and sexism while pretending to be virtuous. Like the others have said, anti-woke means your normal and have a working brain.
Haven't heard much about Avowed lately, other than this news story. They keep doing this, players including those who preordered might decide to disavow the game entirely.
appearntly the discussion page went back up about a hour after this vid was posted... kinda feels like steam glitched as if steam creators really had the power to kill discussion pages i feel we would have already seen this in practice before.
I was optimistic at first. But honestly, I am sick of being berated, insulted, and slurred because of my preferences or worse, the characteristics I had no hand in making (race/gender). All while those same people demand unyielding tolerance for their ever changing goal posts. All I want is fun escapist entertainment... Not a H.R. session from most unqualified people imaginable.
The problem is they fear they lose investments if they don't follow the agenda, but games used to be inclusive and open minded even without it making it blatant. These very same companies did games like that and they were loved by everyone of any race or gender. Why can't we get that back?
I honestly would've bought it if it wasn't for the art director. I loved the world of Pillars of eternity and the game looked cool. I wouldn't touch it now with a 10 foot pole.
Wooooow, look at that. I'm sure this has nothing to do with them vilifying everyone on the internet, surely. Nah, not at all... I checked the discussions on the steam page myself a few minutes ago and it seems to be working fine now, it's a bit of a cesspool but that's not really unexpected. That one instance of Avowed disappearing from that one dude's library is weird though...
I guess its a case of waiting for someone tied to Avowed to start claiming that the gamers magically did this in some way as you'd expect from those with a victim mentality. Avoiding what happened would have been so easy but apparently keeping your head down and focusing on your job is impossible for some people.
After The Outer Worlds which was short, buggy (including a 100% CTD bug they had to emergency patch out) and lacked replayability, the shine wore off their penny. The last truly good CRPG they made was Fallout: New Vegas (2010) and always had the feeling that BioWare held the leash on that one. Wasn't a fan of Pillars of Eternity and quit after 12 hours of gameplay. So, I'm not going to play their game or mourn them like I mourned the fall of BioWare.
Either they are having some kind of contractual agreement issue with steam. Something like "You need to put a stop to all these haters" or "Don't let us get put on one of those lists" or they are pulling the game from market. 1 month out. I guess it could be a dumb mistake, or something happened. You don't pull your product 1 month out. Definitely pre orders etc. or they could have seen the "wishlist" numbers were like 2. They had like 20,000 then elon then it dropped to 2.
Disavowed is going to be another major woke flop. Just like Assassin's Creed: Shadows, Concord, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Dustborn, Forspoken, Redfall, Saints Row (2022), Skull and Bones, Suicide Squad: KTJL, Unknown 9: Awakening. The Obsidian who made classics like Fallout: New Vegas and other good games like South Park: The Stick of Truth, are long gone. I don't want a New Vegas sequel if it's being done by Obsidian.
I don’t understand it because you can have whatever viewpoint you want in games, stories, movies etc. but there’s a way to do it with grace and intelligence that doesn’t put everyone off. Like offering counter viewpoints
Developers should not have control over the discussion page on Steam. How is it reasonable that they can remove conversations about their product in a store? That is so beyond anti-consumer, I'm surprised it's even a thing.
If cover art was meant to sell games, avowed has some of the worst I've seen. Just having that cover art in my gaming library would make me avoid it like the plauge.
No idea why anyone would play this, it looks like a worse Skyrim. And I can mod my Skyrim to look better, AND play better. So many talented modders gave their contribution over the years, I can turn Skyrim into a game that doesn't even resemble Skyrim. What on Earth does anyone find appealing about this?
There's a lesson here somewhere, I just don't know what it is since I neither have any interest in the game nor do I pay for "early access", which isn't really early access but the actual launch date. Either way, my life remains unaffected.
Hi! Steam dev here. I can clear a couple of these things up. 1. I've had that Community Hub issue looping back to the store page before and actually had to talk to Valve in-person to get it fixed. Their official response was, "... that's weird." So, yeah kind of a known bug. However Avowed's community page does seem to be back up. 2. "Advanced Access" is not an official branch type on Steamworks. This was likely a beta branch used for testing internally and with a few trusted others. This being taken down doesn't mean anything for the game's public launch next month, just that this branch is being removed likely to avoid confusion.
Maybe Obsidian, as a form of protest (or retaliarion) against Valve, will sell their PC version only on XBox Store, where they can guarantee a safespace against hatred and bigotry... Boy, oh boy! I'd surely like to see they trying something like that.
Ah yes, Xbox's online userbase, a safespace without hatred and bigotry ...Ignore the million and a half people who drop 10+ slurs a day while allegedly effing your mom.
Yep, the Development Company Hakai-ed the discussion section on Steam. I’m surprised Valve is allowing this drastic change. The code is no longer accessible so the site inadvertently refreshes or reloads the page to try and find the link that is no longer there. It’s like what happens when a page on a forum site is suddenly removed or deleted, the link is still technically there but it leads to nothing so the system tries to reroute or refresh the page for an updated link that will never come.
Its censorship. Aka Disallowing free speech and criticism. Developers are fed up that the consumer won't just "consume product be ready for next product" and think questions and criticisms are "bigoted" and "hate speech"
censorship....by ALLOWING peopel to discuss and critisize their game on steam forum? ........not very smart arent you claiming they are disallwoing free speech with those threads on the discussion forums is asinine
@marceloa392 did you not watch this video at all? They removed the ability to even access the steam discussions, which is a place for discussing the game. They also blocked anyone who had any form of question and blocked anyone for any kind of criticism. You arent very perceptive are you?
@marceloa392 not to mention you dont need to be "allowed" to talk about anything. Again, it's called free speech for a reason. I dont need explicit permission to tell anyone or anything I dont like it. I dont need permission to say i dont like something. No one does. So that's a moot point entirely.

I dont mind inclusion in video games, as long as it doesn't get in the way of player agency, like what happened with veilguard, a good example of a game that did it well was fallout new Vegas, with arcade canon, and Veronica, its sad that a studio that hit the mark so perfectly over a decade ago, is failing so hard now.
I am fine with being anti-woke. Those people need therapy and psychology.
They are like this BECAUSE of therapy and psychology
Bro you are not anti-woke. You are just normal.
You are not anti-woke. You are Normal. Just like everybody who they label "anti-woke"
Anti-woke is just woke in a mirror. Anyone remember the church groups getting concerts banned, making sure you had bible allegories in every cartoon, finding D&D problematic, and if you disagreed, you're fan of the red pitchfork guy?
My guess is narrative control.
Nothing builds more confidence in your product than shutting down all discussion about it. /s
It is afraid. It went into hiding, which is an.. uhm.. interesting marketing strategy I suppose.
It is funny how outdatted gameplay from Avowed looks like.
What makes it outdated?
@@NuchiAsaki It feels clunky when I see it. But it could also because it gives me vibe of just skyrim with modded graphics.
The pin is mightier than the sword.
Next will be hiding the profit from the investors, after hiding employee from the studio. It will be peak content.
I think that quality of the game will speak for itself, making decisions before that is silly
Naw, we have enough information. Our brains are very good at pattern matching.
They're afraid, if someone takes them to court over their hiring practices they WOULD get hit
I honestly would've bought it if it wasn't for the art director. I loved the world of Pillars of eternity and the game looked cool. I wouldn't touch it now with a 10 foot pole.
Avowed needs to remove the "vow" part of their name
i have aeds
@@sticklyboiI will AED you in time of need
But an AED is for restoring life, not ending it.
Nah, they just need to replace the "w" with "id". It's more accurate.
Kinda sad actually. I LOVED both Pillars of Eternity games. But third part of the series would most likely die in pain.
We will help the director get his wish of living in the woods. I don't see how that can be hate fueled.
Wooooow, look at that. I'm sure this has nothing to do with them vilifying everyone on the internet, surely. Nah, not at all... I'm sure this game will be a massive success, cult classic, millions of sales! And it won't absolutely bomb on launch and spell the end of the entire studio because of a singular moron who decided to have a rage boner for Elon Musk.
I'm sure the entire modern audience will love playing it! All 600 of them!
honestly they should be scared of us. We pay their bills
Just checked it on my end. Discussion page opens normally.
When the outrage antiwoke people end up being the actual snowflakes instead
Have you seen the trailer for Spell Fragments? (It looks like a Frieren game with Roguelike third person and a couple of Hack and Slash elements)
Haven't seen it but I'll check it out!
And you can also customize spells to make your own (and call it a name)
@ Oh that's always fun
modern obsidian is not the same og obsidian that made fallout courier 6's jingle jangle of a journey.
1:00 the top post being about Gobfins is perfect Palworld discussions
I think they’re terrified.
Oh they're, and they getting more terrified knowing well the so called "modern audience" Will never appear to play the game, and normal gamer didn't want to play cuz "it's not made for you" By the game dev to normal gamer
@ Their fatal flaw was assuming they could bully us into buying their games. I’m sorry but I have limited time and money for a games and I’m not gonna spend it on a lecture or someone’s Mary Sue fanfic.
It's afraid.
They brought it on themselves.
it's been completely baffling watching all these companies ruin themselves, not just game studios just seemingly Everything.
It's not just discussion page, it's community hub in general
Yeah it seems to have been a technical issue.
The Steam discussion page just works. If it was down or bugged, it was only for a few hours or a day.
They should be aware of the customers
Meh, they just hired some junior to manage Steam and instead of "it should be easy" it ended up with some fk up :D
Either they are having some kind of contractual agreement issue with steam. Something like "You need to put a stop to all these haters" or "Don't let us get put on one of those lists"
or they are pulling the game from market.
1 month out. I guess it could be a dumb mistake, or something happened. You don't pull your product 1 month out. Definitely pre orders etc. or they could have seen the "wishlist" numbers were like 2. They had like 20,000 then elon then it dropped to 2.
them censoring discussion will garantie game is DOA
Disavowed is going to be another major woke flop. Just like Assassin's Creed: Shadows, Concord, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Dustborn, Forspoken, Redfall, Saints Row (2022), Skull and Bones, Suicide Squad: KTJL, Unknown 9: Awakening.
The Obsidian who made classics like Fallout: New Vegas and other good games like South Park: The Stick of Truth, are long gone. I don't want a New Vegas sequel if it's being done by Obsidian.
I'm all for shitting on games for woke reasons but let's not pretend Redfall bombed because it was woke, it bombed because it was just shit lol
Wait for Assassin's Creed: Shadows to actually flop before you declare it one.
Redfall and Skull and Bones i thought were flops for being not good primarily. I haven't played any of them so i can't judge
Sales conversions are quite bad for those games. We all know their common denominator…

No
I don’t understand it because you can have whatever viewpoint you want in games, stories, movies etc. but there’s a way to do it with grace and intelligence that doesn’t put everyone off. Like offering counter viewpoints
They had the "rainbow" tag... let's see if they keep it, or if they do like "Concord" and remove it post-launch.
Developers should not have control over the discussion page on Steam. How is it reasonable that they can remove conversations about their product in a store? That is so beyond anti-consumer, I'm surprised it's even a thing.
Avowed's studio feels like just a bunch of Mass Effect Andromeda's reject dev crew hopping on another bullet train to the flaming dumpsters. XD.
Im super confused I didnt even know this game was a thing. But obsidian makes some of the best games on the market
Skyrim laughs at it
I'm guessing the art director still has a job? What a crazy industry.
If cover art was meant to sell games, avowed has some of the worst I've seen. Just having that cover art in my gaming library would make me avoid it like the plauge.
I just wanted more dark colonial era fantasy like in Pillars 1. How did things end up like this?
outdated. the discussion page is there, i see why they would like to hide it tho
Without knowing anything, the trailer makes the world look empty and the action look janky. Worse than Skyrim.
It also seems to be a rather short for an RPG. By their own admission 20 to 30 hours.
Maybe if they beg Chris Avellone to come back Obsidian has a sliver of a chance, but in reality they're done for.
I AVOWED to not play this
No idea why anyone would play this, it looks like a worse Skyrim. And I can mod my Skyrim to look better, AND play better. So many talented modders gave their contribution over the years, I can turn Skyrim into a game that doesn't even resemble Skyrim. What on Earth does anyone find appealing about this?
Two hours later and I can still see the discussions section of the community page.
It's a shame because we rarely get new games in this genre
I just went on steam and looked at their discussions page. Everything was fine. The forums are basically a dumpster fire, but I can see them.
Actually will prove to be very effective. It was the only forum where discussions of e.g. the art director weren't being heavily moderated.
Maybe Obsidian, as a form of protest (or retaliarion) against Valve, will sell their PC version only on XBox Store, where they can guarantee a safespace against hatred and bigotry...
Boy, oh boy! I'd surely like to see they trying something like that.
Ah yes, Xbox's online userbase, a safespace without hatred and bigotry
...Ignore the million and a half people who drop 10+ slurs a day while allegedly effing your mom.
Maybe you guys shouldn't jump to such weird conclusions so quickly. Their forums came back several hours later because of a glitch.
I Avowed to keep my wallet closed
I proudly identify as non-buynary.
Yep, the Development Company Hakai-ed the discussion section on Steam. I’m surprised Valve is allowing this drastic change. The code is no longer accessible so the site inadvertently refreshes or reloads the page to try and find the link that is no longer there. It’s like what happens when a page on a forum site is suddenly removed or deleted, the link is still technically there but it leads to nothing so the system tries to reroute or refresh the page for an updated link that will never come.
a strategy so bold that it could only be seen on THE OCHO
So now less people will know about this game overall. This will only lead to the game flopping harder than it would have.
Couldn’t take the heat, so they left the kitchen.
the discussion page seems to be back
They are aware this game will be hated. The only thing they can do now appease their shareholders
"Avowed"
* spits out drink *
-literally WHO!? oh wait that game did exist...
Its censorship. Aka Disallowing free speech and criticism. Developers are fed up that the consumer won't just "consume product be ready for next product" and think questions and criticisms are "bigoted" and "hate speech"
censorship....by ALLOWING peopel to discuss and critisize their game on steam forum? ........not very smart arent you
claiming they are disallwoing free speech with those threads on the discussion forums is asinine
@@Foggert772 i checked the discussion forums is still there with topics asking for hansen to be fired
of course there are lot of non issues complains too i asked several times here and on steam about the impact in gameplay of the pronouns
didnt get an answer yet
probably doenst make a difference at all like most games allowing us to choose between male and female
@marceloa392 it was temporarily gone. It did use to just redirect you to the store page. Im just saying these devs nowadays have devolved to "uh oh they arent just consuming product"
I was looking forward to this game. Then they shoehorned in DEI on a FANTASY GAME. It makes more sense in 2077 than
something of Sword and Sorcery.
when are devs gonna learn that talking down to and alienating your own audience is objectively the wrong move, every time?
