Sophonie | 2012 Mercy Graduate

For years, Sophonie experienced sexual abuse by a close family member, but when she shared it with her family, she was kicked out of her home instead of being protected by her family. Feelings of being alone intensified, and eventually, Sophonie began abusing drugs, which led to her being homelessness. Her lowest moment came when she overdosed, and that is when she applied to Mercy.
At Mercy, Sophonie was empowered to share her story and the struggles she had been through. For the first time, she began to be heard, believed, and supported. Christ started to be the foundation of her life, and she began to understand that God has good plans for her life.
