I never expected that watching a man jammed into a crack trying to eat a cracker with his foot was something that would entertain me to no end on a Sunday. What is my life becoming?
Haha glad you found it entertaining. Thank for watching! I'll nevertheless thought I'd be doing a zoom call and picking crackers up with my feet, with someone I've never met before 😅
Haha that was awesome thanks for this! Hope we can meet up in real life someday for some crack climbing outdoors, I need some coaching on those as well
Maybe tryna session in the upgraded cellar? Think you'd ever he able to make the trip? Maybe even hit up a bridge or two for some roof crack action? Seems your style.
This was great! Friendly silly comp turns into wholesome/very informative training session! Exactly the kind of top tier climbing content the world needs to see.
This was the collab I was hoping before because if anybody can keep up with the crazy creative (creatively crazy?) of the WideBoyz, it's Emil! Loved the video. Totally cracked me up! ;P
Okay Pete I have to say that u are soooo funny, i just laugh too much watching ur videos ! Thank you man thank you ! Please try to invite ADAM ONDRA, it would be so nice to see him with you and Tom
My gym also just got a few Wide Boyz cracks that they put up in a 7c route! My question is, do your cracking elements also come with a tutorial where you or Tom come and show me how to use them? :D
I really hope all this climbing channels get to the level of subscribers magnus has. You guys all deserve it! Just love for the sport and good vibes between all of you guys. Happy to be part of this community
It's the same format, but i guess the end product is a little different. With Louis it was live and un-edited, with Emil it was edited into a video. I also prefer the finsihed version with Emil as well :) but it's much more work from both sides to get it produced though. And yes massive thanks to the girls on both sides Mari and Cordi for holding cameras!! thanks for watching :D
@@WideBoyz yeah. Format was the wrong word (I’ll blame it being quite late when I watched the video) this type of production is much preferred IMO. I really enjoyed both but this was just much easier to follow. I hope you know that I greatly appreciate the additional effort that went into making this one happen!
Really nice video and tips! I' tried my first "cracks" in limestone (fist jam) and in gym (finger jam); it is a completely different style of climbing for me, but it is really fun! Thanks’ for the videos, the tips and the contagious love for jam!
I see comparisons between climbing competitions and strongman. They change the competition to fit more with what sells than what it *should* be as a sport.
Super entertaining video. Thanks for that and I'm looking forward for more. I'm so psyched about crack climbing and looking everywhere for cracks or off widths. Just to try my technique. I have to ask my local gym about a few cracks.
I was laugning so hard.. I was baffled when I read that you two actually never met irl! Feeling viewing was that you where old mates! :) You have to do a co-lab irl soon!
15:50 I just realized how much ankle flexibility and control you need for crack climbing. Well the problem Emil set is harder since the width changes gradually.
Cool challenges, would really like to see more crack problems in bouldering and climbing gyms. How about giving names to the hand jamming techniques? The hand technique on the lower crack could be 'butterfly' :D Somehow the first thing that came to my mind when I saw it.
My local gym put up their very first crack...for a week everbody was trying to layback it, so now they've put up a sign next to the grade that states 'crack!' XD
Your both so awsome, to watch the teaching & learning process is great after Emil watches a few dozen times he will see and it will click then beware other comp climbers 😁 Practice, practice, practice etc .... In the style of the SAS motto a bit: Pete's painful practice prevents piss poor performance.
Hey Pete, I have a question for a possible future Q&A: How did you manage to keep your feet alive during your El Cap rope solo? Did you bring different sizes so you could switch to bigger ones as your feet swell? Im really desperate for good strategies, cause im quite into doing long multipitches but my feet are always killing me after 5-10 hours (depending on the shoe and the terrain). Im really inspired by your accomplishment. Peace out ;) Ps. I might post this again under a different video, just in case it slips under the radar. But I'll refrain from spamming that question if it should not happen to be considered ;)
If I remember correctly I think i brought 2 pairs of climbing shoes, and if always switched to trainers when cleaning and jumaring to give the feet respite. I'd say it's pretty normal to have sore feet after 5-10 hours, it's something you come to learn to deal with. The best thing to do is to try an delay the pain, I.e. Always take shoes off after pitches. Don't fully tighten them on easy stuff. Put trainers back on at belay, etc
Silly question - but as a non-crack climber. Why do you start with your feet about your hands? Is that how the problem is set up? To me it seems like it'd be easier to climb hands above feet?
Isn't this somewhat risky to get a bone jam in that top crack? I'd imagine myself quite uncomfortably getting a knee or an ankle stuck there. Of course the outsides of these cracks are useful in such an emergency… just curious.
it was a great challenge and problem set by emil. that one had me seriously thinking!! I would have been baffled if he'd specified to put the cracker on the bottom crack trainer

Good work Emil!! 💪💪💪
Master class with Emil and Magnus on crack pretty please 😎
I’ve never seen “sneaky” Emil before, you’re usually so nice on Eric’s channel. I like him!
Maybe tryna session in the upgraded cellar? Think you'd ever he able to make the trip? Maybe even hit up a bridge or two for some roof crack action? Seems your style.
Magnus will be proud "shirt off for power"
My gym doesn't allow shirts off. Perhaps that why I can't climb harder than 6B :-)
@@driesvanoosten4417 maybe they only let you climb shirtless if you’re crazy good. Which gym do you go to?
@@driesvanoosten4417 Well, if you took your shirt off, you'd be a 6c climber. (read in Marte's voice)
Had to double take when I saw Emil in the thumbnail, thought the channel was wrong for a moment. Excellent collab and a legendary video, nice one!
Yes this was a very fun one to make!
The natural evolution: first crack - climbing, now cracker - climbing. You are both a hilarious, healthy variant of silly. Thanks for sharing.
thanks for tuning in :D

Yeh it turned into a fun session in the end, lots of useful tips learnt all round i think!
dude look at these pro quality vids!
Pete + Emil is a great combo, both responsible for getting me into climbing and clearly just stand-up dudes...if a little cracked
Not gonna lie I'd be more worried about smelling my toes after having them in climbing shoes for half an hour haha
You're not wrong, my feet aren't the greatest place on planet earth either...
@@WideBoyz That's why you go with CHEESE crackers!
This is awesome to see that even (some) world-class climbers are still so stoked on learning and trying new things. Go Emil and Pete!
Massive Swedish fists
That got me too 😂
I just love the fact that this is what Pete and Emil does for a living.
Wow Wideboyz got their Skillshare sponsorship. Proper RUclipsrs now
Loved this one. Great to see Emil trying something he isn't immediately a beast at. He will be cruising cracks in no time
he already is crusiing the cracks, can't wait for him to put it to good use on the comp circuit :D
I just had a smile on my face the whole video.. Stonkin content!
😀
Great work on the edit, boyz
🤙🤙
That was cool to see a world class climber learning and enjoying the progress.
Wide Boyz does it again
From the basement of one to the hearts of many ❤️🔥
This was the collab I was hoping before because if anybody can keep up with the crazy creative (creatively crazy?) of the WideBoyz, it's Emil! Loved the video. Totally cracked me up! ;P
Yeh Emil was the man, up to try anything out, and good challenge imagination!
Awesome! Great editing. It really felt like I was watching an in person coaching session.
yeh hopefully a few tips come in useful to the viewers as well in that one :)

Be great go get Adam doing something. Maybe after the Olympics when things have relaxed somewhat 🙂
@@WideBoyz thx for the answer, maybe he could use some crack training, i hope we'll see some of ur volumes on the final lead routes
Adam knows, he's just intimidated by the wideboyz and has the Olympics as an excuse for now 😅🙂

We can't personally come and show you, but we have a bunch of tutorials which show you how to use them. Check out our full Crack School playlist

we can imagine the boulder pretty good now, awesome camerawork / cutting!
Best vid ever! Very well edited and super fun. Thanks Pete and Emil
what a sick collab idea. yay emil!!
edit: so well edited guys
Honestly, EVEN on Wideboys I never thought I would witness such genius :)
Glad to see you two collaborating on a video, and on learning new skills!
Hope to see more collabs with Emil
hope we can actually do some in the future that don't involve Zoom calls, haha
I don’t even climb, why am I watching a bloke eat a biscuit with his feet? Great to see you take your niche into a new place though
haha excellent, glad the video found you somehow :)
That was AWSOME!
I hope you guys can put together more videos like this, it was awesome.
Glad too enjoyed it. Hopefully we can actually meet up with Emil at some point in the near future
Love the crack off and I think this format is better than the earlier one with Louie. Great content Pete, Emil, Mari, and (I assume) Cordi!

Very cool colab. Love seeing a climber challenge themselves with something new.
I loved this video!!!!!!!! I learned and watching Emil work on them it was amazing!
Great colab! Strangely, the conversation over zoom sounded very natural!

deserves way more people to see it :D
This was amazing! great climbing, great lessons and great laughs! was not expecting this collab
Loved this!! We 100% need to see a colab when travelling restrictions are eased between you two :)
Love the intro.
Pete Whittaker of Wide Boyz
Emil Abrahamsson: Just some strong guy from Sweden.
Great to see you dragging Emil into the world of crack, good challenge though I wouldn't want to eat anything that been on a climbing wall.:)

Wideboyz crack is on the wall (V4) at Dogpatch Boulder San Francisco now. Will try it on Wed
Does someone know the song which plays at around 15:55? Or is it just an ambient-jingle?

Now that restrictions are slowly easing in the UK are we likely to see a return of crack school for us mere mortals?
It'll be Crack Fest rather than crack schools. Although there are crack schools at crack fest
