  • This video is a supplement to the video “Summer Mowing with JD612E”. It shows 12 minutes of video from the cab of the tractor, looking back at the Rhino 15-ft side wing mower going through high weeds alongside a fence line. There is no dialog, it's just mowing. Imagine yourself in the cab doing this for hours.

How refreshing to see someone who actually knows how to mow with a brush cutter. I get so frustrated watching these guys show us how to "mow" and then stick a brush cutter on a small tractor and mow crop that is as high as the tractor hood in road gear. They're not mowing at all but rather just running over stuff and pushing it over. After a few days the field will look like crap again. I am using an 8' twin spindle mower on my 76 horsepower Massey and I mow fields that are grown higher than my head but I put it in a low gear, usually 2, and take my time and when I'm done I have a field that I can be proud to claim I mowed. Nice job and good looking tractor and mower.

Thanks for your comments, I appreciate it. I still remember from quite a few years ago I was slowly mowing with my 60 hp open cab Fiat and an Alamo 8-ft cutter through some 6 and 7-ft high ragweed and goldenrod (what a mess) and all of a sudden a snake slithered across the hood of the tractor. What a surprise.

@@LongleafSheepHillRanch-if9zz 😱 Had that been me I would have probably destroyed the tractor and the mower getting off and away from that tractor

Slow speed lets the blades cut like they should. Best way.

are those the laminated tires on the rhino? Any issues with them? I am looking at a Rhino TS10 and debating between their trax tires or stay with laminated to save a few bucks.

Hello, sorry for the delay in replying, I just saw your question. I don't know what a trax tire is and if you mean by laminated a bunch of rubber square patches tied together into a tire configuration, yes that is what I have. There have been no problems with those tires and they are really, really old and have suffered a fair amount of abuse. The only problem I've had with the wheels is the bearings going out. The spindles are so old and worn I've had to replace those and put new bearings in. The tires though, they seem to keep going and going and going.
