Sorry to tell you but, they did it was called the Soft Tail Standard I purchased it new 2004 code letters are FXSTI. That means FX frame narrow front ST is soft tail the I means injected engine. I have gone a little more and got the balanced 88 duel cam engine and I must say it is smooth engine wise and ride wise. Yes still have it and I am 70 years old now. Body giving out now so I do not ride it much anymore except around a few miles to keep it working properly. Great motorcycle then and still is.
Good stripped down basic bike, nice. But I am still old school guy and l do not like a small digital gauge on the handle bar. It would look perfect with round analog gauge front of the handle bar and it’s SOLD. Oh, one more thing, of cause bring a springer back that would be FANTASTIC 👍🏼
The Best handling bike would have to go to the xl 1200 cx Roadster..this is still a great bike and has several advantages over the Roadster. I'd put some forwards on this and off set slip ons ..Excellent Value ...mind you the Fxlrs handles Superbly and has excellent lean angle with the Forwards over the Mids..
Yes you can put the bigger Slim/ Lowrider etc tank. You will need a pump. I have seen some SB tuned that way on FB page they look cool. With the Lowrider being 1k less to a SB, though I guess you better go straight for that one, unless you want the black out finish the SB has.
It seems strange to me that the chromed and polished M8 motor is cheaper than the blacked out version, surely chroming and polishing takes more time and costs more money than simply powder coating everything wrinkle black?
The black powder coat is a step after the polish is already 95% complete so there is more money invested. Milling the cooling fins on the Street Bob head after powder coat is also an additional step. Powder coated lower legs, rims, and triple trees, risers, and top clamp all get the extra work too. Add in the side mount plate, nicer designed air cleaner cover, slider boots and the Street Bob is really the better deal if a fella likes the blacked out look. The Low Rider is an even better deal if you're into chrome. You couldn't come close to recreating either starting from the Standard for the same money.

@@oceanstatehd sooo... that means no.... too bad... i hoped it could be a minor work fitting that tank but i do understand that it might be harder than it seems...
@@Maxtowers71 Looks like there are some tank kits to make the peanut tank fit the new softail frame. Try Parts Unlimited, I think they may have something.
What's the one thing 99.9% of Harley Davidson owners will tell you? My bike needs a new exhaust. It's a brand new bike but it needs a new exhaust. You people have been brain washed. But they are nice bikes. Just don't know why you think your new, nothing wrong with it, exhaust needs to be changed out for a broken, loud one.
Nothing comes standard on the 'Standard'. No ABS and no cruise control, even my city run-around car, the 'bottom of the range' KIA Cerato comes standard with ABS and cruise control. Would have been nice (and I suggest, a big big sales point) would have been if HD included at the same price point these 2 features as standard. Imagine that, a Standard with some standard features - HD Motor Coy still has not seen the light, hopefully the new boss will bring some light.
@@oceanstatehd . When I bought my FXLR, the first option on the list was a Sundowner seat, because my wife would not get on the stock seat as it is not designed for more than a ride around the block for a pillion. Another money making strategy for HD - sell a bike with a crappy seat so you have to replace it. The second on my list was CC. We just completed a 3000km ride around Tasmania and there's a long distance of highway cruising between Tasmania and Sydney (BTW, we like to travel around this and other countries and I am over big heavy touring bikes). Let me tell you, CC is a 'need' in 2020 if you don't want a cramped wrist and you actually ride your bike more than just to the local coffee shop for a pose on a Harley - you know, the 'coffee club set'. As I said, imagine the increased sales (which Harley needs) of the Standard if it actually came with a few 'standard' features at the same price point. Not even the associated tour kit for the Standard model comes with CC. Harley says for the Touring Customisation Option - "...you’ll be ready to chase excitement-mile after mile." Except that without CC, your right wrist will be hating you and certainly you don't have the comfort feature which comes standard of other models designed for the longer haul.
Abdullah Al-Shimri Chief Dark Horse? The Chief is probably more comp to the bigger Softails and maybe even a Road King Special. This bike is more lean and trim. Less fluff and ornamentation.
I still feel it's perfect. Value priced, and all I would change is seat. (Personal preference).
The clean, stock look for me is perfect.
Just test rode one today it was amazing I absolutely luved it! I ride a road king I'm thinking about buying one for my son
Gee ,, he'd have to be Over the moon. You're a great dad.

Dennis Morris I’m 39 and I’m ready for this bike.
This bike with its price point has got my attention.
Sehr schönes Motorrad. Looks very classic Understatement. Nice: The small front wheel. Old school style.
Great bike for the price! Wish Harley would have come up with an idea like this 10 years ago.
Me too!

These days there is a big up-charge for black.

Love it
Looks like my Superglide. Needs a bigger tank though.
I could see the Breaks not working that well with solid disks. My Dyna's were terrible.
Why to much competition out there at that price point in my opinion. Nice bike but maybe mags or spokes as a option?
An M8 Softail at this price. In my younger days I would have waited in line for this bike.
So what am I post to not pull on?
I just traded my 2011 Kawasaki ninja 1000 for this bike. It goes perfect with my other bike.. Triumph speed triple rs...

Lack of cruise control is a fairly cheap fix.
Thats the whole point of this bike. Nothing you don't need. A lower price point was the objective.

nevillegreg1 sounds like you guys are having amazing adventures. Super jealous! Enjoy and if you are ever in RI stop on in!
Why does everyone act like this bike is the second coming? It's a Street Bob that cost 1K less.
Thats exactly what it is.
It looks just as HD suppose to look. Chrome, classy and spoke wheels.

Could of said 1920, would not make much of a difference. Same bike, different chrome and seat.
Did Siri change your "Street Bob" into 1920? Its ok, I struggle with her too!
This. Ike should be 10.000 dollars including taxes.
It's pretty in-line with offerings from other builders
Another nail in the coffin for HD
This bike is an embarrassment
Get your shit together Harley
So happy.
Looks tiny, and no that's not what she said, lol
Name something the Street Bob has that this doesn't.

Nah sorry Harley fucked it up as usual the 2012 to 2015 fxst way better.

Thats kind of the point. Its a starting point for you to have your way with.
