I can explain this
If by determining value of matrix come non zero than rank is 3.
But if it comes 0 than take all submatrix of this mateix if atleast one value comes non zero than rank is 2 but if all values comes 0 than rank is 1.
For 4×4 similar step take

You have got a genuine doubt Komal. I appreciate it. In order to calculate the rank, we should consider the determinant of all the sub-matrices. Since, |A|=0, the rank will not be 3, as its a 3X3 matrix. So, the rank will be less than 3. Finally, we will pick the maximum rank possible for the 2X2 sub-matrices.
