Your tutorials are like precious pearls of wisdom if collected properly can make me a very enriched artist ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ thank you so much may God keep you happy and healthy always ..❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
If you are a beginner watercolor painter, you have found the best tutorial I have seen in all of the many you tube offerings. This will most certainly get you in the right direction to your own discovery in this amazing medium. Thanks Dianne!
As primarily a watercolor artist I am so glad that you are doing more watercolor tips. Your instruction is the best! One thing I would love to see you do a quick tip for, in watercolor, is how to paint something like the sun dappled side of a building, where the shadows are grey but the sun areas are golden - think sun on the side of weathered cedar shingles. How can you make that merge without blending too much and losing the distinctiveness of each color? Thanks so much for all that you do to help artists learn.
I'm so glad to see another specific question about watercolor, and a good one, too. Look for this Tip to appear in late February. We film these several weeks in advance.
Such a great tutorial with many unexpected tools and techniques that I haven' seen in my year of getting started in my art (specifically watercolor) journey. I think the mantra for watercolorists, as you confirm, is... let.it.dry. Thanks so much for a wonderful lesson!
Thank you so much for this wonderful watercolor tutorial. I still struggle with controlling the water on my palette and on my paper. I appreciate your teaching style and always learn something new. Thank you so much!
Love that you’ve moved into watercolors for now, Dianne! Only recently learning them myself, so very much loving your tips! And will my wife be surprised when I tell her I want one of our old toothbrushes she uses for picky cleaning spots for watercoloring, lol! :)
thank you so much for sharing all these helpful information. I am working now for my portfolio for my application into an artschool next year and as a amateur i cannot describe how much your amazing videos have helped me. I wish you all the best during this lockdown and am looking forward for more videos from you ! From Germany
You are Great. I wanted to try water colors for a long time. I didn’t do it because I thougt I could not control the uitkomt. Now with this tip I really want to try . Thank you very much. Learning with you is amazingly fun and motivating.
Thank you Dianne. In oil painting I am used to preserving my darks, it took a while to get my head around to protecting my whites in watercolor. I just kept forgetting to do it while I was painting was so frustrating at first. I found that Oil paint does what its told but watercolor is a partnership lol. Love the toothbrush tip cant wait to try it. Best.
Your tips are so amazing, I learn something new in every one of them. I'd love to see how you would tackle glazing in watercolor - particularly glazing to change the color of a previously laid wash. Thanks so much.
Thank you so much for your videos! I am learning so much! Questions...whats a back run? could you please make a video on that (or maybe you have and you can direct me to it?)
That's a really cool palette Diane. I've never seen one with holes in the corners. What's their purpose and what is the brand. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
The palette is a Tom Lynch porcelain palette. Theoretically, those holes are for parking brushes, but for my purposes, the just sit there looking like holes 😊.
In the Studio Art Instruction thank you Diane. I agree ..for me the would be kinda useless. You did a great job explaining about the water on the paper.

Best teacher ever.

More to come and the questions about watercolor come in.

Don’t be afraid to not wait for the “ let it dry” solution. I think the true magic of watercolor happens when things are still wet.
Thanks for adding that, Gerald. YES!
Thank you so much for this wonderful watercolor tutorial. I still struggle with controlling the water on my palette and on my paper. I appreciate your teaching style and always learn something new. Thank you so much!
My pleasure, as always, Marie.
Thanks for helping me understand the technique.
You bet!
Wonderful....So good to see you sharing your knowledge of watercolor too! Thanks so much.
My pleasure 😊
I found your technique of creating a value line of sorts on your palette. Excellent tip, Dianne - look forward to more!
Yay, thank you Joani!
Excellent tips! Thank you for sharing Dianne
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching.
Fantastic info for beginners! This would've been so helpful when I started with watercolor some years ago.
Thanks, Barbra!

I am delighted these Tips are helping you. I remember well those days preparing for application to art school.

I often say that watercolor is more akin to making pottery than to oil painting. By the way, thanks for joining Studio Insiders.

Thanks, Helen. I will put your request on our filming schedule.
I guess you are not in England😢. Love the way you teach , so much info.
Nope, I'm in northern Georgia, USA.
Watercolour ground white could also be used to create whites over dark paints....just picked up from one of RUclips videos 😊
Oh cool!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I have learned a lot from your videos.
Glad to hear that!
Thank you so much for your videos! I am learning so much! Questions...whats a back run? could you please make a video on that (or maybe you have and you can direct me to it?)
Nikki, a backrun is a lacey little area that appears when water runs back into color that is drying.
That's a really cool palette Diane. I've never seen one with holes in the corners. What's their purpose and what is the brand. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

Don't forget the salt or silica lift out technique to create a sandy, pebbly texture! :-)
Yep, those techniques are fun.
Thank you for the clarification! I was shocked---stole a toothbrush? Sounds a bit kinky!
There are a lot of watercolor techniques that are a bit kinky. It's the nature of the beast.
🌹🌹Nice video💖💖amazing good video 💙🌺🥀🐬🌼🐾🕊️💞💕💖💖'
