Was really hoping you would show that I didn't need to take the AC compressor out, but very impressed that all EJs have basically the same path for this tube.
Thank you for the video! Just completed this job and it wasn’t terrible. Anyone who has questions can reply here and ill try and help as im pretty active on YT. I recommend taking your time, get all the wobble extensions you can buy, and quality parts.
Awesome video, was able to get this done on my 2008 Forester. Much of this video lined up with what I experienced. I did have to pull my radiator fan as I was not able to get a socket & swivel on the AC compressor tensioner nut, but that was easy enough. Mine did leak quite a bit of oil, and was still seeping until I got the new Dipstick tube in place. Definitely get a bucket, drain pan, etc underneath before you pull the tube. I went ahead and replaced both belts with new while I was doing this job. Satisfying to get this done on your own! and save big $$$$.
Hi Susan! Great Video! Step by step instructions and camera shots are great! Decided to give it a try on our '07 Impreza 2.5 but now I'm stuck. The car developed a small oil leak. I didn't know where it was coming from until checking the oil one day and the entire dipstick tube came up with the dipstick. It caused a big mess and after checking, I found that there was supposed to be a bracket bolted onto the block to keep the tube in place. (You show it at 4:11 on your video.) There is no bracket on mine. I ordered a new one and started the replacement and got stuck at the back bolt on the AC compressor (#4 in your video at 3:42). There is barely enough room to get an extension between the compressor and the intake manifold, but I was able to use a 1/2" 14 mm impact socket with a 3/8" adapter to a 3/8" wobble extension (it is the only one that will fit) then a 1/2" adapter to my electric impact wrench (225 ft lbs). I cannot get the bolt to budge! I have sprayed penetrant and also tried repeated reverse/forward bursts on impact wrench with no results other than heating up the extension/adapters & impact wrench. I know that I am losing strength from the wobble extension and adapters, but I don't want to break the bolt off, thus I am stuck. I'm not sure whether a 3/8" drive 14 mm swivel socket will make a difference or whether there is a way to get the new oil tube & bracket in place without removing the compressor. Do you have suggestions? As an alternative, I am thinking I could replace the o-rings on the old tube and then gorilla tape it around the receiving tube coming out of the oil pan. Your thoughts? Thanks!
How to replace oil dipstick? Yet doesn't actually show how to line it up. Mine is completely off and she just says "might have to guide it into the hole". In total, this video maybe covers the dipstick for 45s total.

I am having trouble finding a new/replacement oil dipstick tube for my 2009 Subaru Outback 2.5XT . Do you have any sources for this part?
+@EdMacKerrow Unfortunately We do not carry this part for your vehicle.

Is this the same procedure for the 2015 Subaru Forester?
Most cars don’t have this type of leak problem with a simple dipstick tube. Subaru ‘quirky’ PITA design again? lol.
My dipstick tube won’t go back in!!
Why don't you drain the oil first instead of making a big mess?
