    Thanks for the video. My go-kart was making a horrible noise and I narrowed it down to my clutch. Oiled the clutch as described and works great now. I never had to oil my centrifugal clutch 35 years ago. May look at upgrading to a better clutch when this one wears out. Thanks again.

    Here's a old school mini bike tip, we used back in the day. If you are out riding and your clutch starts squealing and needing oil. Pull your dip stick out of engine and allow a drop or two, to oil the bushing at the circlip. The video says if you have a Hilliard to grease it, well that's not entirely correct, most Hilliards have a "oilite" bushing that needs oil not grease. If you grease a oilite bushing you render it useless. The Hilliards that do need grease are the one's with a "needle bearing bushing" such as the Inferno Fury. Also some Hilliards have been modified with a "zerk" fitting to make it a greaseable clutch. Do some reading about Hilliards and Max Totque and Chinese clone clutches and you'll have a genuine understanding of how to maintain it.

    Oil it every half hour to an hour and you want to do it after your ride because the clutch has been warmed up and it will absorb the oil a hell of a lot better if you do it before you ride just a drop or two because the centrifical force will fling It Off if it does not have a chance to absorb that's why it's best to do it when it's warmed up

    So I just made a mini bike, and i pretty sure the alignment with the sprocket and clutch are good. When I run with the bike the chain stays on. But when I turn the engine on and give it some gas the chain falls off. Before, I looked back at the sprocket and the chain was bouncing up and down before falling off. Is the chain too loose? Or is there a sprocket problem?

      Torque flex.
      Gusset or girdle the engine mounting plate. Too much torque will kick a chain from flexing the engine plate.

    Hi i have a question, just wondering if you or anyone else has an opinion on oiling the inside of the clutch just a little bit, like a few drops". Ive had a jerking problem on acceleration, ive everything fine so far as chain tension and allignment is perfect but i noticed putting a few drops on the actual clutch pads smoothed everything out tremendously, now it has a super smooth take off and stays that way for up to 2 hrs of ride time give or take. It still has plenty of power after about a minute or so once some of the excess oil flys off, can still do hills very good but most of all its supper comfortable and smooth, so i heard the pads will heat up by doing this, but does has anyone actuall knowledge of a clutch going bad this way? Im gonna keep doing it as an experiment i guess just to see how long i can get away with this, i hate that jerkyness and am kinda thinking all centrifical clutches have this problem cuz everything is perfect on my drive chain, has to be clutch. Im using a hillier extreme duty clutch.

    • @beaubrummelmotorizedbicycles
      @beaubrummelmotorizedbicycles 2 года назад

      Why you are experiencing the jerking upon take off is a gearing issue, the few drops of oil you used allowed the clutch to slip a little allowing the take off to not be so aggressive. Check into what gear ratio you are using, you don't say if you are running a jack shaft or not, or just back to a rear gear from your clutch. Excessive oiling the shoes will probably make them overheat a little causing premature wear, but if it works for you, it works. Check your gearing....

      You need to adjust the tension on the spring, cut a few spirals and reconnect it, that basically allows you to idle without applying pressure on the clutch. You’re going to have to do it a time or two to figure out the correct amount of spirals don’t got too many or else you will regret it.
