  • Don't like the narrow and dark windshield of your favorite car in Richard Burns Rally? I found a simple solution. And this is definitely a game changer for me, watch the video!
    RBR windshield replacement pack (Google drive) - bit.ly/rbrwindshield
    Instructions:
    1. You need to replace the file "_internal_transparent" in the directory: rbr\cars\one of the cars\textures\
    2. The file name must be "car_internal_transparent" so this part "(tinted 10\15)" needs to be removed if you want to use tinted options. I recommend using 10 percent tint.
    *For Lancia Delta HF 4WD GrpA (Delta_4wd folder) you need to replace "_external_transparent" file.
    *Audi Quattro 200 - if you have v1.45.0 version of RBR or more recent, then in order to change the windshield on this car you need to go in the main folder Audi_200_quattro and open the file Audi_200_quattro.ini using any text editor (for example, notepad if you a PC user) and find such a fragment with parameters:
    [i_window_f]
    Predicate = NotUsed
    Switch = false
    SwitchBox = light
    FaceBlock0_Material = internal transparent::carpaint
    FaceBlock0_Shader = CarIntGlass
    In my editor this is line 1364 (you will most likely have the same thing).
    And now you need to replace the parameter "Switch = false" on "Switch = true"
    Thus, we completely replace the outer and inner windshield with the inner one.
    Have a good stage!

      If you are using RSF, then you will find the option to hide the windscreen in RSF Launcher -> Cockpit & Dashboard.

    If you play Rally Sim Fans, you can disable windshield in the launcher. BTW, you can change pov and set it like you want thanks to pacenote plugin...

      You are not the first to give such advice under this video, but thanks anyway! If I knew about it, I'd have said it in the video. But anyway, I made custom windshields with different types of tint. This is not comparable to simply disabling the windshield. It doesn't feel good when you don't have a windshield at all.

      Which file did you try to replace, with or without tinting?
      By the way, in my pack there are textures only for Audi_200_quattro.
      And there are a total of 5 versions of them in the game:
      1 Audi_200_quattro (textures for this version only)
      2 AUDI_QUATTRO_A1_GrpB
      3 AUDI_QUATTRO_A2_GrpB

      5 Audi_Sport_Quattro

    • @imagineracer
      @imagineracer  6 месяцев назад

      Did you remove that part "(tinted 10)" in the file name?
      The file name should be like this:
      Audi_200_quattro_internal_transparent

    • @tommygun6866
      @tommygun6866 6 месяцев назад

      Yeah, did that. I tried the non tinted one and that didn't work either. I downloaded GIMP to try it myself. Interestingly enough, the black bar on the windscreen doesn't appear on the original internal_transparent, meaning that it must be hidden somewhere, I guess?@@imagineracer

    • @imagineracer
      @imagineracer  6 месяцев назад

      Yes, this means that the configuration file refers to another source. In my case, this method did not work twice. Once with this car Lancia Delta HF 4WD GrpA, because the source was _external_transparent. And the second time with Citroen C2 R2 Max because I couldn't open the file (I don’t know why, maybe there’s some kind of protection).
      In theory, only these two options are possible (internal_transparent & external_transparent). Because you can see all the textures for each car. Further, if we start to fantasize, it is possible that you have some old version of RBR, where the structure of the game may be arranged differently.
      Try other cars. If it doesn't work with them either, then this method probably doesn't work with your version of the game.

      You can change FOV parameter. Double-click the right mouse button.
      I've been using 1.5 lately. Speed feels as realistic as possible.
      You can also use the bonnet camera.

    I dont get that talk. Every simulator has camera options, so you can adjust your view to your rig. Duuuh Almost every arcade like Dirt or WRC has that option and there is no difference in the way it works. RBR feels realistic cause it is a simulator.

    • @imagineracer
      @imagineracer  6 месяцев назад

      Yep, RBR feels realistic, I'm not arguing.

  • @GrubZukk
    @GrubZukk 3 месяца назад

    While I understand that it bothers you and why this bothers you... this is just realism.
    Have a look at the real life versions of this cars and you will see the same windshield tints.
    That's not to say this isn't good advice, but the whole "why did they make the cars this may, must be robocop or mandalorian fans" bit is ridiculous 🤷‍♂

    • @imagineracer
      @imagineracer  3 месяца назад

      I watch WRC championship regularly. Such a narrow strip only occurs if the camera is located near the rear window. The driver's visibility is not so severely limited in both rally class 1 and rally class 2 cars.

    • @GrubZukk
      @GrubZukk 3 месяца назад

      @@imagineracer You were not talking about modern Rally cars though!
      I explicitly said take a look at the cars you were talking about to see that thise strips are very much present.
      And no, they are not that much of a big deal from the perspective of the driver… which you can configure the position of in RBR.
      Your preference is still valid of course, this is a GAME after all… but the cars are still faithfully recreated. You just don’t like that form of realism… suit yourself.

    • @imagineracer
      @imagineracer  3 месяца назад

      @@GrubZukk I don't see any point in arguing either. Although I have actually cleaned windshields for different cars.. And this doesn’t really matter, because firstly, each of us has our own idea of how it should look, and secondly, at the time of making this video, I didn't know about the ability to adjust the internal camera by double-clicking the right mouse button. It would really be a game changer if it weren't for the ability to change the camera position.
      This would truly be a game changer if it weren't for the ability to change the camera position and remove the windshield completely in the launcher. However, there are still certain advantages in my windshields - I minimized the tinting to a comfortable level (from my point of view, of course).
