Nice one pal. That route was my first camp after lockdown back in April 2021 and the start of my camp every month. It’s a great and very underrated summit with fantastic views all around. Glad it wasn’t just me that was blowing a bit on the ascent 🥵😁. ATB bud 👊
I wish I had done trekking ..I feel I may have passed the chance in my late 40s. This always brings me peace watching your videos. What a beautiful way to spend your time.
Just found your channel through Paul mesners channel. Great video. It's very inspiring. I'm just collecting my gear and intend to start wild camping next month. Ita been years since Ive been camping so really looking forward to it.
Nice to see St Sunday Crag featuring on someone's film Andy. A very underrated fell I always think. I've done it a couple of times but the first was in very snowy conditions, doing the Deepdale Horseshoe. What I really like about it is the views down to Ullswater as you start to descend back towards Patterdale. Bye for now, Chris 👍
HI Andy. It was a beautiful evening. I was camping up in the Forest of Bowland that same night. The sunset over Morecambe Bay was amazing. All the best mate
I looked over here Saturday night as I was on Helvellyn. That spot you camped on Helvellyn I saw an abandoned tent from night previous, mountain rescue had come up to get the young kid off who’s pole had snapped. The tent was still there when I started my camp the next evening.
That first section is a killer! I did it in a loop during the last hot spell we had, did most of my water in on the way up 😂 cracking views though and a lovely fell to wander over. Cheers Andy
You’re nuts Andy, can’t wait for Winter! 😀 You’ll not get me out on a mountain if it’s cold, I’m a confirmed softie these days and won’t go out unless it’s hot. My excuse is I’m sixty five and I get to be more of a wimp with each passing year. Keep those videos coming, they help me keep sane when I can’t go myself. 👍
Great video Andy as always, had my X mid delivered today, thought i had an empty box, it was so light. getting kit sorted for the Dolomites, 3 to 4 weeks with luck Hoping for some early snow beginning Sept.
Stunning views. I’ll always remember griesdale tarn for the 60 mph winds and heavy rain I had walking over there on the coast to coast. Never been so happy to see a b&b. This makes me want to go back!
Cracking vlog bud👌 amazing views like you say it’s trapped between 2 great areas Fairfield & Helvelyn range, I was up there on a 2nighter about a month back mopping up some wainwrights😂 I’d got to do Seat Sandal and can tell you after coming down Dollywagon and back up it’s very painful 🤣🤣🙈 …all the best bud, stay safe👍
I remember that walk up as soon I saw your pics on FB 😂 its a reyt pull up that first bit. We walked from Patterdale YHA over to Ambleside, via Fairfield and Heron Pike. Absolutely banging walk. Cheers for sharing that, really enjoyed it 👍
Great video Andy shame I was in lakes same time but over in Keswick for the week Beautiful mountain as I would not think anything else in the lakes mate
Nice one Andy, I don’t think there’s an easy route up that way, even the pull upto Arnison crag is nasty. Quality pitch though so definitely worth the effort, I couldn’t agree more I’m so done with summer, being on them low temps, snow and less people Atb Alan
Hi from Melbourne, Australia Andy - I'm looking forward to playing the part of this video to my wife where you were looking forward to winter and the minus temps - she can't handle any temperature below 17C !! Enjoy your videos and Pat Dickinson's too 🤝
Grisedale Tarn... reminds me last time I was there I was on my way up to Helvellyn and decide to take the 'quick way' straight up the side of Dollywagon Pike rather than wind up the side of it... the most brutal ascent I've done in the Lakes so far! 300 metres up in not much more than 300 metres distance.
Awesome, do you think you will use your Pro in winter ? Is a 1p enough? They look brill, my 2p X is great but I saw a pro in the French Pyrenees last week and I was in awe of the tent! Agreed with you with the heat and also in winter the solitude is far more superior .
Hi Andrew we're here in the States (W state). We like the firepot meals too! Green Gumbo, Tuscan Stew and the Orzo! We add Idahoan mashed potatoes to them to add flavor and calories. :-) And by the way, doesn't the chocolate keep you up at night?

That was my first Wainee at 50 and my fave. Incredible views. Love it ❤
I've always looked at St Sunday from Helvellyn and thought "That's a big bugger that!" I'm gonna go and camp up there before the year's out. Great vid

Hey Andrew, can I ask how you find the mythic ultra vest ??? Good piece of kit ????
yeah its great for use in mid summer when a full jacket is slightly overkill..works well with a light fleece or like the senchi tops i wear.
