This is the original. After the breakup, the founder of the band and the guest vocalist who stole the band wrote their own albums. The 'fake' Batushka is signed to Metal blade. He had to cancel the North American tour as he is in a lawsuit. If you listen to both albums you can clearly hear which one is which just by comparing it to this song. Glad you got to check this out, but you are still doing yourself a disservice by not listening to another polish black metal band called Mgla. They have published one album Hospodi. That is the version of Batushka that is touring. Drabikowski created a new band that actually goes by the name Батюшка in which he is the only band member. He has also published one album Панихида. The other Batushka bands probably have nothing to do with this one.

It is Russian, everything on the cover album and their name is written in cyrillic writing. Yekteniya is a religious celebration from what I can remember. Batushka means "Father" or "The Father" and everything that the singer says are basically prayers, and it can range from anything like the Old Testament with Abraham to the New Testament like the birth of Christ and such. I had my own little pet peeve with them since I discovered this song which is my favorite from the Litourgiya album, and Litourgiya basically means liturgy, and many East European countries have the same word in the vocabulary. In Romanian, for example, we have the word "Liturghia", in french we have "liturgie", in Italian we have "liturgia" , in Portuguese we have "liturgia" and so on and so forth. It really is an interesting thing to study the different languages and see what similarities there are ^_^ Keep up the good job guys!

But the clearly winner and should be is the person who founded this band. But this a bit the same story as we had with Immortal (or any other band with legal name issues). It’s the first Batushka album when they were intact. The one signed to the label is the faketushka, don’t bother. Listen to second album Panihida. Don’t listen to faketushkas second album hospodi.
Tobias Krantz that’s all very subjective so I can’t be arsed getting into this but hospodi doesn’t sound like Liturgiya at all where as Panihida sounds like the first album hence why it’s Batushka and Hospodi isn’t. By that comparison you know who stole what and who is the real batushka. And if you think otherwise you just might be deaf.

The Metal Blade Records are the fake ones, they are completely rejected by the community, and rightfully so, and not because of the music (that, oh my god, is bad too), but because of what he did. The original composer and songwriter published the REAL second album for free on RUclips. And it's fucking amazing. If you want to listen to it, it's the one with almost 1 mln views. What you listened to here is the original one, the singer stole everything, including social media access from the original composer, so they split in two different bands. Now they have this looong thing in court arguing about who owns the rights of the band name.
There is only two but to stress all the other are people just taking the piss and mocking. The original with Kristoff is the best. The Virgin signed to metal blade is the one with Bart who did a hostile takeover on the band and it is trash. They are the ones touring. They are supposed to be in my city this week but had to cancel due to lawsuit. I kind of wanted to see just for the visuals but I don't want to support Bart and his garbage

I saw batushka live this summer on Sweden rock, hands down the best concert I have ever seen! Such an amazing band, I love the mix between like church vocals and then raw black metal vocals
Correct pronunciation would be 'Yek-ten-ya three, Preh-mood-rost' for the song title. The band's name is wrongly transliterated from Russian, it should be Batyoushka and it is pronounced as 'BAah-choo-shka' (accent on the first syllable). The band itself is from Poland, but they are basing their lyrics and imagery on Eastern Slavic Orthodoxy, albeit inverted to some degree (well, at least the Batushkas with Derph in it does - that is, this one (the original) and the one that didn't signed to Metal Blade and had released the 'Panihida' album). The lyrics are in Old Church Slavonic language which is not a spoken language and it is mostly a mixture of Old Russian and Old Bulgarian. This language is only used in ceremonies in Slavic Eastern Orthodox Churches (Russian, Belarussian, Ukrainian, Bulgarian, Serbian). The lyrics itself are actually inverted litanies from the Eastern Orthodox Churches in a way that in the original texts the one who prays is addressing the God, and in Batushka's lyrics it's the God that is addressing the praying person (for instance, the original: 'Please, save us from Evil' becomes: 'I will save you from Evil').
This video is the original Batushka. The new shitty Metal Blade Batushka is the worst version. It's lead by the singer of the original group. The new "good" Batushka is lead by Krzysztof Drabikowski, the guitarist and songwriter of the original band. His stuff still sounds like the original Batushka. Support Krzysztof, not Metal Blade.
Basically all those differerent "Batushka's" are fake and a parody, craving attention on the whole dramaz this band got REALLY big really fast so... the only "true" Batushka is the on that got disbanded, the original project with the only debut album Litourgiya (2015). And now there are two "main" Batushka's. The first one, stolen, with the same original name, signed to the Metal Blade Records (btw what a shame) and the second one, Батюшка, by the man who make the first Batushka happen, the writer, author of the artwork, the whole image of the band, Krzysztof Drabikowski (Христофор) also known as Derph, the mastermind behind the original project. He released the "debut" album this year as well, called Панихида. Which I recommend to react to. I hope this isn't too confusing, this whole situation is just not serious. Basically, ignore the Batushka from Metal Blade, the continuation of the original project is Батюшка by Derph and any other project with the same name is just a joke and parody.

It’s the first Batushka album when they were intact. The one signed to the label is the faketushka, don’t bother. Listen to second album Panihida. Don’t listen to faketushkas second album hospodi.

Tobias Krantz that’s all very subjective so I can’t be arsed getting into this but hospodi doesn’t sound like Liturgiya at all where as Panihida sounds like the first album hence why it’s Batushka and Hospodi isn’t. By that comparison you know who stole what and who is the real batushka. And if you think otherwise you just might be deaf.

One is signed with metal blade and their album name is "hospodi" and the other batushka's album name is "panihida".

Oh and the fake batushka cancelled both the aus and north america tours and the real batushka is playing europe now. Got my tickets for their date in london next year where they will be playing alongside malovent creation.

The Metal Blade Records are the fake ones, they are completely rejected by the community, and rightfully so, and not because of the music (that, oh my god, is bad too), but because of what he did. The original composer and songwriter published the REAL second album for free on RUclips. And it's fucking amazing. If you want to listen to it, it's the one with almost 1 mln views. What you listened to here is the original one, the singer stole everything, including social media access from the original composer, so they split in two different bands. Now they have this looong thing in court arguing about who owns the rights of the band name.

There is only two but to stress all the other are people just taking the piss and mocking. The original with Kristoff is the best. The Virgin signed to metal blade is the one with Bart who did a hostile takeover on the band and it is trash. They are the ones touring. They are supposed to be in my city this week but had to cancel due to lawsuit. I kind of wanted to see just for the visuals but I don't want to support Bart and his garbage

It's easier to pronounce like "Ektenia" i guess and bAtushka, not batUshka too.
Correct pronunciation would be 'Yek-ten-ya three, Preh-mood-rost' for the song title. The band's name is wrongly transliterated from Russian, it should be Batyoushka and it is pronounced as 'BAah-choo-shka' (accent on the first syllable).
The band itself is from Poland, but they are basing their lyrics and imagery on Eastern Slavic Orthodoxy, albeit inverted to some degree (well, at least the Batushkas with Derph in it does - that is, this one (the original) and the one that didn't signed to Metal Blade and had released the 'Panihida' album). The lyrics are in Old Church Slavonic language which is not a spoken language and it is mostly a mixture of Old Russian and Old Bulgarian. This language is only used in ceremonies in Slavic Eastern Orthodox Churches (Russian, Belarussian, Ukrainian, Bulgarian, Serbian). The lyrics itself are actually inverted litanies from the Eastern Orthodox Churches in a way that in the original texts the one who prays is addressing the God, and in Batushka's lyrics it's the God that is addressing the praying person (for instance, the original: 'Please, save us from Evil' becomes: 'I will save you from Evil').

This video is the original Batushka. The new shitty Metal Blade Batushka is the worst version. It's lead by the singer of the original group. The new "good" Batushka is lead by Krzysztof Drabikowski, the guitarist and songwriter of the original band. His stuff still sounds like the original Batushka. Support Krzysztof, not Metal Blade.

There are 2 versions this one which is amazing and Faketushka who's signed to metalblade and they are god awful
Basically all those differerent "Batushka's" are fake and a parody, craving attention on the whole dramaz this band got REALLY big really fast so... the only "true" Batushka is the on that got disbanded, the original project with the only debut album Litourgiya (2015). And now there are two "main" Batushka's. The first one, stolen, with the same original name, signed to the Metal Blade Records (btw what a shame) and the second one, Батюшка, by the man who make the first Batushka happen, the writer, author of the artwork, the whole image of the band, Krzysztof Drabikowski (Христофор) also known as Derph, the mastermind behind the original project. He released the "debut" album this year as well, called Панихида. Which I recommend to react to. I hope this isn't too confusing, this whole situation is just not serious. Basically, ignore the Batushka from Metal Blade, the continuation of the original project is Батюшка by Derph and any other project with the same name is just a joke and parody.
Yup- that is the original and the one signed to Metal Blade is the only one touring.
My recommendation will forever be Advent Sorrow - Pestilence Shall Come (i guarantee you will have a lot to discuss on the vocals and emotion behind this black metal masterpiece) :))
Incorrect drabowoskis real batushka played panihida in it's entirity for the first time ever at a sold out show in Kiev Ukraine. They have announced 10+ dates in europe including the UK,Poland,Austria and Hungary. They have also been announced to headline a festival in germany. Here is the one I am attending:
