Ngl this looks better than Stories: Mel, the graphical upgrades make it look almost as good as Source 2 and the concept art looks cool as hell.

Desolation dev here, thank you so much for the amazing coverage! I'm a long-time follower of LambdaGen and it's a total dream to have our project featured. Your excitement for Desolation is infectious, it's wonderful to see what we've made so far is resonating so strongly -- and there's tons more exciting stuff to come! This is a huge project and it's still a few years away from completion, but we're working hard and hopefully, it'll be worth the wait :)

Hi your walkthroughs helped me a lot on half life 1
even with how expansive all the new testing elements (lasers, light bridges, gels, faith plates) are in Portal 2, I feel like the Aperture testing experience could definitely use an update after 12 years, so everything promised here sounds great and I hope the team delivers!
also I really liked your Half Life 2 walkthrough videos, I wonder when you’ll do another walkthrough series for the episodes or even Portal maybe🤔

Portal: Revolution dropped today and I just finished it. Amazing story, voice acting and puzzles.
Glad the fan base is keeping Portal alive since it’s the most unique game ever made.
One of my favorite aspects of this project is the MUSIC. Roy Berardo (Emberspark's composer) has already released 3 tracks that are going to be in the game, and they are AMAZING, it seems like he's really worked with it to really make the whole experience feel like a whole other world you are stepping into. The music is going to be dynamic as well, just like Portal 2's tracks, so it will really give a sense of progression and immersiveness to it all. I have really high hopes for Desolation.
(Also as a bonus, i have a theory that the testing element that we dont know the properties of yet (the orange light bridge) might be some sort of slide-type thing. They were saying you needed a "well-oiled brain" to figure it out, so maybe it's a clue... i guess we'll know when it releases.)
I'm so excited to see this. Being able to enjoy something from one of my favourite game series but with much more immersive and beautiful lighting, a whole new story to explore... I'm so keen to see what the devs have in store!

It looks like an amazing game and I love the art but my PC can only run P2 in medium settings, I won't be able to play it unfortunately, they should have an option to bake in light to increase performance for players like me instead of keeping it real time.
Or you know, buy any cheap modern desktop pc, although i can kind of understand if you are using a laptop

Isn't this like the fourth or fifth time a fan game has been paraded as "the community's Portal 3"? I kinda wish we'd stop that.
While I do somewhat agree with that, desolation is definitely shaping up to be the “definitive portal 3” experience in terms of sheer quality.

In the Portal 2 community, this is what GTA6 is to Portal 2. You have to wait a really long time before it's released. Since we are already older and have children, we might develop new interests instead, Leaving something like this to reminisce on.

Portal Stories Mel (2015): 1950s with graphics the Portal 2;
Portal Reloaded (2021): 10th years the Portal 2 + Dynamics Lights;
Portal Revolution (2023): Portal 2 graphics the Counter-Strike Global Offensive (2012);
Now, Portal Desolation with graphics the Black Mesa (2020).

Desolation is the number 1 mod I'm looking forward to apart frome other portal 2 mods I'm looking forward to like destroyed aperture or repercussions if it's still under development

2:56 theory: the blue hard light bridge comes from the sun so then opposite is the moon. maybe an anti-gravity bridge of some sort.
Edit: This theoretical mechanic *could* work in tandem with adhesion gel in some way.
Edit 2: There could be a part where you don't have any place to put adhesion gel & you have to walk across a gap upside down for a puzzle.

I’m glad to see this -game’s- mod’s development is going well. I was worried by the fact that the studio has been radio silent for a year now, but it’s good to hear that they’ve just been hard at work. Super excited to see progress updates for this thing, it looks extraordinary!

While Source 2 is available for games like CS2, Half-Life: Alyx, S&box, etc. It’s not available as a standalone SDK. Which would be needed for standalone mods like this.

honestly don't want valve to make a new portal if it's just gonna be in the same location again with the same art and characters. i think the community is doing those things already. give me left 4 dead 3 with VR support or Day of Defeat VR something please VR related i spent $1200 on the index and only got alyx whilst amazing is technically a tech demo not gonna lie. valve hasn't figured out 2 handed weapons i have it's called left trigger aim down sight its great on the wii so it's great elsewhere. wanna hit with melee? just press a button. Why they have to go ultra realistic with vr is beyond me considering it's not possible..
