Those of us that find ourselves pulled in by Queen keep an eye out to see someone be rivetted by the discovery. This song and its sturcture was, is and will continue to be a marvel. When you see it live 8-10 years later, looking at the man he became, it really is a life story in front of you. All respect to Queen for not dictating the "meaning" of a song and leaving it up the individual...but sometimes a thing is just plain MASTERFUL (to use your word). Hope you go along for the journey.

@@TheYorkMan Yes, but Roger Taylor once said the other three of them had no idea what BR was about when Freddie Mercury brought it to them. They knew Freddie was a genius and just went with the flow. Freddie said he had about 3 songs in his head at the time but couldn't separate them, so the result is BH. It is a performance rather than a song.

@@seamuskennedy9052 In the same way I'm sure that a song like Radio Gaga (written by Roger Taylor) or Another One Bites the Dust (written by John Deacon) probably didn't mean much to the rest of the band when initially presented.
BH is an amazing song, but Brian May has stated that whilst the lyrics and overall composition were Freddie's ideas, most of the arrangement and (of course) the lead guitar parts were written/developed by him.
Everyone in the band has said the one who brought the initial ideas for songs got the complete writing credit, even if the completed song featured less of their (total) input than other band members.

Live Aid IS great - ripping the world stage out from under all the other groups was amazing. However, I think Queen’s best live performance is 1981 Montreal’s “Somebody to Love.” Freddie was awesome, Roger was awesome - they all were at the top of their form. Given a choice to be at either - I’d pick Montreal.

I believe, and this is just my opinion, that Freddie found out he has some kind of disease that kills people, particularly gay people, and he's both coming out to his mom and telling her he's dying. They didn't know much about AIDS in the 70s but that it infected gay people. He says how his body's aching all the time and he wishes he'd never been born at all. Just an observation from a country music fan.

Mr E You are SO right. What other band has a song that sounded like something The Lennon Sisters would do(Bring Back That Leroy Brown), _AND_ a song that sounds like something Metallica would do(Stone Cold Crazy), and then have another that sounds genre-defying(In the Lap of the Gods), all on the same album? (Sheer Heart Attack) Then on News of the World, you have a song that a lot of people call punk(Sheer Heart Attack), immediately followed by a slow piano track(All Dead) and then a Spanish sounding, flamenco type song(Who Needs You), along with one of the most unique songs I've ever heard, Get Down, Make Love. And to top it all off, It's Late, my favorite, that just _ROCKS_ .

I think MrE was just talking about Bo Rap having a 5 section rhapsody with a intro, ballad ,rock, opera, coda in it was new
Rather than implying everything they did was different from everyone else at least I think so
I'm not sure how to take your comment some of it seems sarcastic but some if it sounds genuine!
Music magazine Q described "Stone Cold Crazy" as "thrash metal before the term was invented". The song was played live at almost every Queen concert between 1974 and 1978.
But yes metalica did do a heavier cover of stone cold crazy and won a grammy for it!
      17 years later!
I dont understand why Queen didn't release it as a single in 74 makes no sense
Freddie wrote bring back Leroy Brown as a tribute to Jim Croce who died the previous year in a plane crash(Bad Bad Leroy Brown)
Sorry if I've misunderstood your comment
And you were just meaning a mix if genres in one album was different then I agree with that
That's why I don't understand why the band was so un cooperative with hot space
Freddie wanted to play around with funk/dance didn't mean the whole album needed to be!

The entre song is a "body of work" which needs to be heard multiple times until it's ingested, digested, appreciated, and one begins to understand. Just some context for you, the man he's killed, was himself ^^
The 2nd act is where he's in a court of angels who pull and drag him between live and death, until Freddie accepts him for himself and is reborn.
In the final act, it's an acceptance of who he is thus "nothing really matters to me" - "anywhere the wind blows" he's accepted himself.
The song is about Freddie Mercury coming out as being bisexual (gay), during those times (especially around religious fanatics) it was suicide and he doesn't want to suffer anymore so he wants to kill himself, but during his battle with his conscious he finally accepts himself for who he is and shares his story to the world who also accepts him for who he is.

Your true reaction actually started on the operatic session. This is what Queen is about: To not just listen, but to feel the music as it goes on, and on, and on. I suggest you to hear it again, without pausing this time, just feeling it. You will see how it makes a great difference.
For your next reaction of Queen, I suggest "Somebody to Love, Live in Montreal 1981". And next, "Queen Live Aid 1985 Concert". You need to see them live to know what these four guys are capable of.
Oh, and just for the record:
    - The lead singer and pianist is Farrokh Bulsara, also known as Freddie Mercury, he was a graphic designer and the one who composed both this song and Somebody to Love (the one I suggested you). He was considered the best frontman and one of the best singers of all times, owner of a very singular voice. He sadly died in 1991, with a pneumony aggravated by AIDS, but he sang until his last breath, with many songs recorded basically from his deathbed, like "The Show Must Go On" (actually one of the hardest songs ever, vocally, entirelly in falseto, and Freddie aced it with a gulp of vodka and a "Fuck you, darling, I'll sing it!" to Brian May, who showed concern) and "Mother Love" (he sadly died before finishing it, so, Brian sang the missing parts).
    - The lead guitarrist is Dr. Brian May, won best guitarrist of the world last year, is one of the most talented songwritters on music history (he made a ton of songs, most going to Queen albums), and is basically the friendlest guy ever. He made his guitar (the red one he used there) from zero, has a PhD in astrophysic, and his thesis about cosmic dust is actually used by Nasa.
    - The bassist is John Deacon, composer of many sucesses of Queen, and an eletric engineer who created many devices used in music industry today. One of them is the amp of Brian's guitar, something no amp could match for until they met. Even retired after Freddie's death, he still has a voice in all important decisions of the band.
    - The drummer is Roger Taylor (also the lead vocalist and guitarrist of The Cross), he is a biologist and studied Dentistry as well. He, too, made many sucesses for Queen, but about his talents, I'll let you see for yourself (if you react to "Somebody to Love, Live in Montreal 81", you will. Pay attention to him there). Today, he (71 years old) and Brian (73 years old) still tour (well, not exactly "touring" now, of course, because of covid...) using the name "Queen +", and they call many other vocalists to sing with them, like Mark Martel, Jessie J and Adam Lambert.
I loved your reaction, and I hope to see more.

No one really knows what this song is about. Brian May, the guitarist, has said that the band didn't know what it was about. Freddie was really deep and wouldn't let anyone into that part of himself. When they asked Freddie about the song he said ‘I think people should just listen to it, think about it, and then make up their own minds as to what it says to them…" Freddie was one of those once in a lifetime kind of artist. This was the first video that they put together. They played this song Live at Rock Montreal, 1981. If you want to feel what it was like seeing them in concert, playing this song, watch that video. @@Mainecoonlady. no one knows. It’s all speculation as Freddie has stated several times that he wants to leave the interpretation to the listener. He even explained in an interview that the song consisted of 3 different songs that he couldn’t finish and decided to merge them.

Born in 1941. His real name was Farrokh Bulsara and died in November of 1991 of aids. A movie was made about him starring Rami Malek who was actor of the year for his performance. Bohemian Rhapsody was EXCELLENT and was an astounding performance. You should watch it. I miss "Mr. Fareinheight".

We’re four misfits who don’t belong together, playing to the other misfits. The outcasts right at the back of the room, who are pretty sure they don’t belong either. We belong to them - Freddie Mercury
The words dont have to mean anything, you take from it what you want to hear this was more about the music artform

one of the rare video reactions of someone who actually gets this (really) and gets music- it is exactly what you say, a journey, from being remorseful, to being condemned, to pretending to not give a damn and then just owning up to your impending fate no matter where the wind blows. You actually listen to the lyrics- don't talk over them, listen to the music and put it together. So true about the piano playing (melodic like a nursery rhyme as he was speaking to his mother)

Still cannot wrap my head around this: someone over 20 (?) hearing this for the first time. Biggest hit from one of the biggest bands of all time. Wayne's world. The movie of the same name. I don't know.

I am with you. and the movie is like two years old. Seems to hard to believe. Maybe she had heard it, but didn't pay attention to it... even so... good way to relisten to some classics... don't seem to get how this passes the youtube censorship though...

@ Sushi seems like a nice person so I don't wanna be unkind. She's a bit of an actress: her reactions seem just too emotional and over-the-top. Of course, the overly emotional reactions, combined with the fact that she's a pretty girl, make her channel one of the more popular reaction channels. Gets pasts censorship b/c she stops the music video a lot and the screen is mostly her, so hard to say it is a copyright violation. It's clearly a review/reaction. She knows the rules. Anyway I am 99% certain she knew about Bohemian Rhapsody before the reaction video. Honestly I am getting tired of the whole reaction thing. For the most part it is a celebration of ignorance - or pretend ignorance. At this point I'd rather listen to people who know about what they are discussing. Better for the mind and soul in the long run.

@@fattymcfatso1083 Yup... just another youtube show. Funny bit is that youtube is now pushing me to believe that a lot of people never heard about this music, by pushing a lot of reaction movies about it. :)... but then I just remember this: ruclips.net/video/cZnBNuqqz5g/видео.html and humanity is safe again.
