This is a real man, not like the pathetic gangster bellends you have on here going on about how hard they are. This man is a true role model for being truly tough.
I agree with you👍..The other types u have to keep an eye on,pay attention to,but they just can't be trusted!(regardless of how charming and charismatic they are!)..But these guys are cut from a totally different cloth!
@@jerryoshea3116 no mean soldier is why I joined para reg! Just absolutely cemented the guidance I needed. 👍👍
@@Imseeingyousinking It's a great read isn't it? The bit about Angola was frightening!
@@kebabtank I am going to buy and read the book again. I read it over 20 plus years ago and borrowed it from the library. 👍
Some of the gangsters are alright, they're not all bad. In fact some are genuinely reformed. But I agree some just want an easy life where they can brag about stabbing people and rely on cheap tactics to get respect.
The Manners this man have are exceptional, asks to swear before swearing, asks to be excused anytime he coughed etc, might of been a rough but a very good upbringing! Respect, and thank you for your service!
Highly likely due to his era and education , a society where respect for your peers came naturally without challenge , a far contrast to the way things are today .
A PROPER old school gentleman, all the same a formidable gentleman. Great men like this put the GREAT in to Great Britain.
More interviews with extraordinary people like this guy, too many so called 'reformed' gangsters on podcasts,.. brilliant interview.
You mean to many cowards that's all a gangsters is a coward and a bully
True
good to hear from true tough guys
RIP to a legend. Without doubt a very humble and hard man .
Get him back on. Was a pleasure to listen to him James.
"This is not for me anymore" so refreshing hearing him saying that about drinking , great man. A proper hard story!
These people are heroes, real heroes
SAS men.
James, i would appreciate a 2nd interview with this great man.
Peter has talked about an incredible amount of subjects here. Fantastic interview, James, one of your best.
I bought his book many years ago, incredibly driven and obviously tough as steel toe caps. When he really starts laughing it's always when he's in terrible pain! Excellent vlog James and Peter.
As an English Man i have so much pride for this Gentlemen .Thank you for your service .
That's a proper man there. More respect than any gangster or bad man. Last of a dying breed.
👍🏼
I could listen to him all day. Get him back on for more detailed stories.
Far better listening to him than so called gangsters.
Peter Lived my dream. Youre a top man Peter.
Thanks James
Brilliant! Could listen to Peter all day long, what an absolute legend & gentleman, respect sir!
SAS are a different breed of man, So proud to be British 🇬🇧👊🏼
Agreed 100%.
My dad served 18 years in the Argyll's.
One of his friends who served alongside him ( who became a family friend ) decided to join the SAS.
He was a tough, tough loyal man... but also the kindest gentleman you could meet.
Long after retiring they all kept in touch... regularly having get togethers.
Once, one of them had their house broken into and Army medals and other memorabilia were stolen.
By this time most were over 60 years old, but you could still see the steel in the eyes.
Needless to say every single piece stolen was retrieved, no police involved.. they sorted it out themselves quietly and quickly.
I asked my dad how they got the stuff back, he said..doesn't matter how.
Hard men all of them, but not one of them a bully.
@@bud1876 British Special Forces are truly the real deal..Peter Macleese, Billy Billingham, Jason Fox, Ant Middleton etc they are all people i'd never want to cross!
They are no different to you and I. They are very unassuming, good humble people, that have the worlds best training and exceptional resilience. I am exceptionally proud to have spent several years playing rugby along side special forces operatives. They are not special people, it's a special regiment. Don't forget they are not super human, they have had super training, have access to super equipment and have (what i'll never understand, a super level of trust and reliance on each other) Good for you to be proud to be British.
He’s one of those old boys who when he tells you it’s raining.....you take a brolly 👍
Reminds me of Michael Fish
An incredible interview. As other comments say, a completely unassuming gentleman who is clearly hard as nails, but feels no need to talk himself up or exaggerate for personal aclaim. Absolutely brilliant stuff.
You've got hard bastards, double hard bastards then you have Peter McAllese. Such a legend
Engaging in gun battles? Terrifying stuff. And he did it regularly lol.
@@damienholland8103 lol yeah not just that, what a soldier! To pass SAS selection then after leaving going over and passing Rodesian SAS and recces selection at 40! That's insane, to then start their pathfinders unit and then years of mercenary madness including attempting to take out Escobar, just incredible
Agreed.....................................🤔🤔🤔🤔
SAS - Hardest blokes on the planet
Fucking right

I could listen to auld Glaswegians stories all day, this guy was a REAL man. Great interview @Anything Goes With James English.
That was absolutely different class James. Could listen to Peter talking all day long. A true gentleman, who is clearly hard as nails but so very down to earth and humble. Class!
Can you imagine the superhuman level of fitness and conditioning that man had to be in to be part of the SAS?
😳🇬🇧
It ain't that hard physically to get into the SAS, it's the mental application that is the toughest part
Really enjoyed this interview, one of the best yet! Fascinating.
Best podcast you’ve ever done. I could listen to Pete all day. Great leading questions from you as well James, you nailed that interview. 💯
This is going to be a cracking interview, Looking forward to it
Hi James this is one of your best podcasts yet. Would love to sit and have a pint with this guy just to hear other stories he seems a really genuine guy. Look at you now your absolutely flying brother keep em coming lad.👌 Love from Edinburgh 🏴
That was utterly brilliant. Could listen to Peter all day, no hint of the big ‘ I am ‘, just a pure gentleman speaking about his fascinating life.
Not really. He sat down and did a deal with the Cali Cartel who were just as bad if not worse than Pablo and still traffic people and drugs to this day. So unless you think dealing with murdering drug dealing criminals just to catch one other mudering drug dealer just so you can earn some money is a good thing, you are very wrong.
Also brutish forces have no business in columbia anyway and the pilot lost his leg in this same mindless pursuit of money.
I dont call that clever or good in any way.
@@Midnightwhiskeymassacre read the first couple of lines of your reply and got bored. Not interested in your opinion one bit really.
@@Midnightwhiskeymassacre shut up you boring fart
@UCuKxzgcVI3kvnnznw5C6j_Q shut up. Escobar destroyed families with cocaine across the whole world. Dirty dirty drug that destroyed millions of lives. So even though Cali were bad, if Escobar died it would of been good for the world. Look at the bigger picture. You think the crown who he worked for officially were any better? Clueless
@@Kingdonnerkebab good because I feel just the same about you and your silly little comments
Peter sounds at peace with himself, I'm proud to have met this man and shook his hand
What an excellent interview, I never post a comment but felt that I had to this time a real tough bloke with a colourful life not many of this breed about 👏
Could listen to this guy all day, brilliant story's , brilliant interview 👏👏👏
What a amazing story and lovely character ... I can't wait to read the book
one of my fave podcasts well done james this man is amazing, so fearless xxx
I read his book about a decade ago and the softly spoken guy in this interview was not what I had imagined at all. Great interview
This is my favourite interview by far, Good effort interviewing James.
Outstanding interviewer is James, asks the questions we want to know, engaging at times but ALWAYS lets his guests talk uninterrupted when it matters most. These SAS guys are a different breed and so humble its very sobering to watch these heroes.
This is by far, the best podcast that James has done. I have no issue with gangsters etc podcasts having grown up in Belfast at the peak of the troubles I’ve seen it all. I do appreciate these sort of men a lot more and value their experience and truth beyond any other! Great podcast hope to see more of men like this!
The mental toughness of this man is inspiring. Legend 🏴💪
Thank you Peter for your service and for letting us listen to your story i could sit forever and listen to you also thanks to you James for yet another awesome talk your content is always on point
Another absolutely brilliant and insightful interview Jimmy. A great man to be truly feared, respected and admired. There are heroes and there are heroes. He eclipses the lot.
Brilliant interview, I read his book years ago, what a life.
The hardest battle is against yourself. :)
One of the best interviews on the channel, nice one James.
One of the best sir. What an absolute gentleman. None of that billy big baws stuff just a genuinely good honest man. Brilliant interview I could listen to that man all day long. Cheers James
Great interview.
Listened to a few of your podcasts over last few months. I’m new to podcasts.
And this is by far the best. Very interesting character, no bullshit, an absolute gent. I bet he has stories for weeks.
Class act
Hats off to Peter and James, lovely interview and a very interesting, honest, humble and brave story from Peter’s life.
How good was this 👌 was gripped listening to the Pablo story thankyou james and Peter for one of the most interesting podcasts on here
Watched every pod cast you’ve done for me one of the best
Thanks for your service, time and interview. Brilliant video. Love to all.
Thanks j
Fair play James for having Peter on, as I'm sure you know this interview is just a taster of Peter's life and achievements. His book is very candid and doesn't shy away from the dark truths of war, which many avoid and turn into a semi- fantasy, palatable for the gormless masses out there , who are often truly clueless. Last but by no means least I had the privilege to know his sister and one of his granddaughters a few years back and with hand on heart can say two of the finest , warmest and most honest people I have ever known. From fine stock indeed ! Best wishes x
Great interview - such an interesting guest - I could listen to him for hours!
Best interview yet! Great work
An absolute legend this man. Best guest you've ever had on in my opinion James. Not pulling down any former guests lol & probably because I'm a veteran myself! Top podcast this one pal. Pass on my appreciation if you ever speak to him again 👍
Should do a part 2 great interview
Bet he got stores for days

His book No Mean Soldier is fantastic, would be great to read another by Peter. Really enjoyed watching that, good questions and answers - straight to the point and could have easily watched for twice as long. Cheers.
Great podcast James,Peter is a true inspiration and im sure any man in the special forces past and present love him! And buy his book folks you wont be disappointed. ✌
Outstanding podcast one of the best so far

Great interview James. Would love it if you could have some more special forces types on, love listening to their stories.

That was a pleasure to watch , one tough dude
The first podcast I have ever watched all the way through, by anyone. Riveting.
His documentary is awesome. I knew about him before i joined the Army, but in Army circles, he is a total legend, particularly to us Jocks, him and John McAlleese. 👍🏻
One of the best videos you've done James, fascinating, more of the same please, what a legend
Absolutely Fantastic interview ! please ask Peter to return for a part 2 👍.
Fantastic interview James!!

James is a great interviewer. He has a trusting personality that puts everyone at ease. Good questions and he just lets the guests talk.
👍🏼
Always a pleasure to listen to someone who’s been in the SAS (I have family that were in the SAS) it’s a real interesting thing to listen to soldiers stories.
👍🏼
Love his take on life. Hes humble for a man of his calibre, and inspirational with it. I love his honesty... Cleared a few things up for me.
Total respect sir, God bless & thank you for your service 💙
I could listen to these old war stories all night. My dad served in the Royal Engineers, in the 60s. He also went to Aldershot, then onto Hawaii, Borneo, Singapore, Hong Kong, Christmas island (Operation Dominic) and Aden, where he was shot in the stomach, which ended his career, but thankfully survived. It was rumored he was heading back for SAS selection after Aden. RIP dad, Michael "Paddy" Keelan.
My old man was a sapper he went to Christmas Island, always spun ditts about guys getting eaten by sharks in the reef. He said Aden was rough!
From Devon, Southwest of England, really enjoyed this interview mate! Love hearing these veterans giving their stories. Peter is an old tough bastard! Haha 🇬🇧👍
Great guest what a guy , expect nothing more than the best from your interviews as usual 👌
Fantastic interview, really interesting gentleman, and a host that lets him speak without interrupting - Great work James.
Thanks

What a great interview, Well shared McAleesee.
My comment on James English would be: "Questions infrequently, explores relentlessly"
Glasgow man " is it ok to swear"? Glasgow man "of course it is"! 😂
Will be interesting to listen to this one james x

Longshot to try and get a reply after a couple of years but I'll give it a go. What documentary are you talking about? Thankyou in advance 👊
@@rupertdabear3148 hi mate, lucky enough I’ve got the notifications turned on😂😂 the documentary was actually called “killing Escobar”
