I have the 2019 model and am continually amazed at what a great bike it is. I’ve done tight sporty stuff, 6K mile tours, iron butt rides and 100 mile light Jeep roads (and the bike just grunted through - impossible and weird but it did it). Great reliability for 18K miles so far. I have mad respect for this bike and don’t regret buying it for a second.
sooraj sai I’ve owned Yamaha’s, BMW’s, Triumphs, Honda’s and Ducatis. The MultiStrada has been very “average” for maintenance and parts. Service intervals are reasonable. Cosmetic parts on Euro bikes can get crazy, but the regular engine stuff etc again is pretty average. Again nothing that would discourage me from owning the bike.
It's a great bike,it has a better turning radius than my dad's Ducati monster and he said it was easier to ride than the monster which is a naked bike so it should be pretty easy right? But it isn't compared to the multi,I sat on the multi as a pillion and it was so comfortable, the seat was more comfortable than a car seat and it's super fast. In my opinion it's the best overall bike on the planet
I agree !!!! Even the older ones are awesome! !! I got one October 2017 , put 45.000 miles on so far . Check out the video of my bike if you like! !! Let me know how I did !!😎😎😎😄😄😄😄🍺🍺 ruclips.net/video/r2p9mr19-QQ/видео.html

Excellent review. Today, I purchase my friends’ 2018 S, with full Termi, 45k miles/72 kilos. What is he buying? Another 2018, Pikes Peak, with a few thousand miles.
I have the 2011 MS Tourings S which Ive ridden all over Europe and love it. I'm waiting for the V4 to arrive in the showrooms so I can road test it and if I find its not for me there will be no hesitation I'll just go grab the 1260 Grand Tour these bikes a brilliant all rounders 👌
As easy as the saddlebags are to remove, I was disappointed that you didn't take them off when you were describing how nice the mounting system was integrated into the styling of the bike.
Yeah, i was waiting for him to do so...but I do have those on my Multistrada, i can attest its ease of use, it even fits full size modular helmet!...but it does slows the bikes reaction...removing it makes the bike more nimble in sweeping corners thou
I agree, kind of a glaring omission. Makes me think they aren't so easy to remove after all. Would have been nice to see the bike without the bags and see how easy they are to take off/put on.

The DVT calms the engine down from what it used to be (racious quick revving racy feeling engine) into a slower revving smoother calmer power delivery. Gone is that wilder revving monster we came to love that was off of the race bike. So the balance between SPORT and Touring has been shifted.
When the new V4 Multistrada is available for you to ride, perhaps you could compare your thoughts on the V4 vs the 2020 V2...I have a 2019 1260s and It has been fantastic. Thanks
Beautiful bike. Would like to see an electric windscreen and engine guards for hanging additional high lumen lighting. At this price point an actual horn. At minimum 120db, like a Denali Sound Bomb. Touring is about safety too.
I question purchasing any of these high-end bikes new. Sure, if money isn’t a concern. But for the rest of us? Nope. In the last ten years I’ve bought four new bikes, still have two but the farkles and “upgrades” are now worth as much as the bikes, none of which add any monetary return on my expenditure. I’d like to hear other opinions on this emerging phenomenon.
I'd hold off on getting one of these until the V4 version comes out next spring to see how they compare. The V4 should have better electronics, less vibration, and more HP, but might lose some low end torque. I've found the Multistrada to have a cramped cockpit compared to the KTM 1290 SA, so I hope the V4 Multistrada is built for taller riders than the current L-twin version.
I am an old fuddy duddy, so I'll stick with the RT for now. I can do all the maintenance myself and it's good enough. It's also better for tall folks. That said, I'd like to hear the Duc with pipes.
Still waiting for a worthy replacement for my ‘13 Multi GT. The 2013-‘14 GranTurismo came with larger capacity panniers, top box, taller windscreen, crash bars, comfort seat.... This just has standard panniers and fog lights... Wtf Ducati.
Looks like an awesome machine, still prefer my Superduke 1290GT. You say you love the bags, honestly they appear to be taken from a GT, just slightly reshaped for the Ducati lines.
Gotta call both dealers and get price quotes for the first 3 major services and add them up. I would imagine so but probably not dramatic when we're talking about TCO anyway.
Owned both bikes. Maintenance costs are roughly the same for the 2 and certainly don’t warrant choosing one over the other. The XR is a great bike but I would get the Multi any day. Much more comfortable and with a far better engine for it’s varied roles. The XR’s inline 4 really only comes alive when you’re in the really high revs and at go to jail speeds. It’s manageable at low speeds but kind of listless. The Multi’s big twin playfully grunts along at 5 mph and yet will easily give the XR a run for it’s money at the track.
I'm sorry it's just you because the multistrada is the most beautiful tourer and one of the most beautiful bikes in general while the KTM tourers look like tall super dukes which also looks good but not this good
I'm 5'9" and raised the seat! I can still touch both feet on the ground.. With the lower position both feet can easily be flat on the ground, not like the older Multistradas..
Out of all the overweight, overpriced, overrated, beaked, ridiculous 2-wheeled luxury SUVs posing as "bikes", Multistrada is the only one worth having.
When you realize a bike can cut your commute in LA in half, these make tons of sense. Back and forth highway grinding I want fast, safe, and comfortable with storage. The Multistrada kills it.
I had a 2015 1200S. The Sky Hook suspension was crap - wanted to do tank slappies all the time. The throttle maps were dangerous - no power in 1st or 2nd gear until 16mph then dribs and drabs. Any old lady in a Prius could out drag you at the lights. Repairs were expensive and the parts made out of cocoa tin. I did an oil change at 5,000 miles. The magnetic plug had metal shards on it, the longest 1/4 inch. Back to the Japanese for me.
in terms of raw power, yes. But power isn't everything. I don't think the multi is a stunner of a bike, but man the duke is ugly. wait let me be clearer, every ktm is an ugly bike

I find a top box useful around town for stowing a helmet, puncture kit, waterproofs. I would only use the bags on long trips.
Andrew Hoffman Agree, and a top box is more convenient for filtering too.
Same here
Not a fan of the top box , on my multistrada I have a rack and use it a fair bit. Carry my stuff in a tank bag !😁😁🏍🍺
