If it is a neutral grey it will take on the colors of the room and the light in it. The color looks green because of the paint color in the room in which it was prepped and the mix of blue window light and yellow-orange work lights.

DONT TOUCH IT! Leave it as it is. Its ok to NOT have everything matchy matchy! Its deep colour is within the same tonal family. Its a work of art and if it's a slightly different colour and it stands out then that's perfect! I usually always go with Anna. But, for the first time have to agree with Philip to go with black black.
Grey is a base coat. Grey is what people paint rooms when they want to sell their house so the buyers can imagine their own colours. Black is elegance!

I like the grey. Black is just always too harsh for me. I’m a graphic design student and I’ve always been scolded for using pure 000000 black because it doesn’t look natural. I always see grey as black with more dimension.

Black. I’ve seen a cast iron bath painted black and it really stood out. Remember the bath is a feature and needs that visual pop.

I think the lamp black looks beautiful! My vote is to keep the color as is.
Great job on refinishing the tub.
Move the tub into the master bathroom before making the final decision on the color. Observe the tub over several days in the different daylight that comes in the windows, and at night under the bathroom lights.

I like it as is. The gray black is more subtle especially beside the muted colour of the room. Magnificent job. I wondered where you would get the appropriate plumbing when you were removing the old.

I believe the grey-black of the bathtub is called "charcoal".
Also Philip, I have to side with Anna on the charcoal paint, for one simple reason: in most lights it looks black anyway but unlike black, it won't constantly attract a layer of dust. Charcoal is a bit kinder on the cleaning/cleanliness angle.
I should know - we have a black-only furniture scheme (with wood) on one side of our home and we appreciate the obviousness of the dust gathered and attracted on our furniture as it forces us to clean it more. Not something you want to think about in a bathroom 😉
I agree with you, I have black leather sofa and constant showing of dust. I also have some tables painted in black and same thing.

Theres’s a product called the “Forearm Forklift” that makes carrying heavy things like bath tubs easy. Takes the weight off your hands.
Sorry Phillip I’m definitely Team Anna. I really like the grey/black. And I think with the tiles you have in the bathroom it will look great. If you had very shiny pure black and white tiles, I’d go a proper black, but as you don’t, I really like this grey/black

Definitely Team Anna for this one. At least on my monitor, the tub is a dark blue-grey, which coordinates really well with the other paint colors in your suite.

Ok, I don’t know what Phillip is looking at …. Green?!? Lol. On my screen it looks like it has more purple in the undertone. I like it. It’s softer. Black would be too harsh. I went back and looked at the tile in the bathroom and it’s not porcelain so it’s not a true black, either. It’s softer. The variation in the striations of the marble soften it especially as the white tiles are likewise not stark white but softer with striations of grey running through them. I think the colour you chose is lovely, Anna. Although, I do think (as you probably will anyhow) it’s best to wait to decide definitively until you see it in the bathroom. Besides, a stark black is kinda expected. I think the softer black will give the tub the character it deserves to have in that beautiful bathroom. The good thins is that it’s a beautiful tub and Phillip did an excellent job refinishing it, so it will look lovely either way. ❤

I have worked in many ways with colours in many years, … Anna’s choices of colour are always excellent.
For this particular project, I agree that black is elegant, classic, chic, etc but when you imagine this bath tub in its final setting black will be a heavy and bold colour that won’t easily blend with other things around it. In this project greyish colours are better! They seem neutral and easily match the setting without disturbing the harmony.
Agree. This whole chateau is soft and feminine. The dark gray is a slightly softer hue than black. More complimentary to the subtle femininity. Black-black would be traditional but too strong.
True black. Team Phillip. Of course, you could add a design in rust color over the black. 🙂

I'm pragmatic. Keep it the color it is because it is already a done deal. If you both decide later that black-black is better, you just repaint it. Don't stress what can be changed.

black would look better in my oppinion ;) the walls are powdery so a black tub would be a good contrast, more modern and not too washed out :)
Well done you two! I would never have considered taking on a bathtub renovation but maybe would now. Phillip you have got to trust Anna’s taste. She is usually spot on (I won’t say always because I don’t want to hurt your feelings). This episode made me feel like there is some tension between you two so sort it out, please 🙏 isn’t it enough that you married well Phillip and have two beautiful children, and got to renovate a chateau and got a boat and are multilingual, have a brilliant sense of humour and an international waste pipe influencer? Let Anna be the primary designer (she doesn’t have much else). I love you guys and really look forward to your episodes

Cast iron baths are so good. I really miss them. I spend upto 3 hours in a bath in Epsom Salts to help my condition. I am looking forward to learn how to renovate a bath should I ever have the good luck to encounter one again. ❤🎉❤
Honestly I think black BUT I would have painted the legs a brass color. If I were painting it for my personal tub I would have painted it a Copper color with brass colored legs. But Phillip did an amazing job refurbishing the tub. I have an old heavy enamel kitchen sink I have to re-do so he’s given me motivation. Great job! If you leave it gray it’s not the end of the world. Anna, I love how you can scold in such a kind way it makes one feel guilty but not mad. lol
