A few of us understand about deep bedding. We raised calves near Sault Ste Marie and I worried for those babies when they started arriving and it would get as much as 20F below. The concrete floor was so cold and no amount of dry straw would keep the calves completely off of it. So we let the bedding build up until it was 6 to 8 inches deep by adding dry straw on top daily. The bedding would warm up through composting and the calves would be nestled into the dry straw on top. Their bed was only about 6 feet wide so it was easy to peel off a few steaming inches every week to keep it from getting too high, but we never cleaned it right down to the floor from November through April.
Good afternoon Sandi. Much like sheep, my wife and I have been grazing on your Channel for several weeks now. I thought it was time to let you know how much we've enjoyed each of your episodes around the ewes, lambs and beautiful grain farm of Southern Ontario. The amount of work you do each week with your herd is incredible. The knowledge you've passed on in raising a healthy flock is priceless. I grew up on a 300 acre farm near Denfield, Ontario. Mom always had 40 ewes on the farm. Ours was a mixed farming operation. Cattle, horses, chickens, pigs and sheep. Watching you reminds me of the love Mom poured into her flock every year. The passion, the love, the commitment and at times, the fun. Mom & Dad Walker have sadly passed on however, I know she'd be loving every minute of watching you around your tremendous flock. You've even shared your struggles but you've stuck with it and the results are amazing. Thank-you for your incredible efforts in putting these episodes together. It's also a treat meeting your family in some of the episodes. Together, you guys are amazing in all the work you do in operating the farm. We wish you and your loved ones a great week ahead in all you do. We look forward to watching past episodes and your future uploads. All the best. Regards,
Sandi @ 14:08 That lamb looks just like my nephew !! Lol I took a screenshot and I'm sending it to him. This is hilarious, not so sure how funny he'll think it is though. LOL I'm excited that your website has launched successfully and doing so well. I'm so happy for you. Couldn't have happened to a better person. Stay happy, healthy, hydrated and safe. May God continue to bless you and your family.
Sandi! Ask your wool frind if she can do roving in 8oz or 16 oz batches for us spinners and felters, or maybe some custom dyed roving or batts! We'd love to spin from your next shearing!
I've been watching your channel for several months now, and I just want to say, I love to see your day to day activities, and your positive attitude. It is good to see what a "normal" routine is like for some and also to see you have failures and mistakes in with your normal and great days, but you always seem to keep your positive attitude to make the best of all of the situations.
Love these sheep and specially the lambs. Don't know how you keep a smile with all you have to do and keep everything done at the right time. God bless you from Michigan USA
'Heck ya, that's southern Ontario winter's breath you're listening to! Some years Mother Nature is even worse than THAT! SHE just becomes a demon...😉🙃really. When they pull out the road grader to plow the snow and those things end up hitting a drift that completely stops them so they have to back up and take another run at it to break through...you Know it's going to be a bad day.
I have an old window in our master bedroom, that faces west. Any time the wind blows, it sounds just like that. Yes I could put in a new window (and we will eventually) but I'm going to miss that sound, total horror movie sound effects.
I just love it when I get the notification that you have posted a new video. It means everything else comes to a screeching halt so I can have some "me" time. You have inspired me and I am using many of the things that I am learning from you (not just about sheep, but also life - the good, bad, and the ugly - and am working through a business plan to start a nonprofit organization that will hopefully become self-sustaining! Thank you so much for your honesty - it is helping me to plan better than I ever have - had I not seen the triumphs, oopsies, etc. that you give us a glimpse of. Much love!
We have a Kiwi crook too. The only thing we have issues with is the bigger ewes. (Fat necks) It's awesome for young stock and Ralph loves it as a walking cane when we check our sheep at pasture. It's so wonderful you have your website up and running. Your channel has just been such a great place and continues to be endlessly entertaining, honest and open. The sadness and joy, the mix of all the aspects of a family farm run by a family and all of your adventures are priceless. God Bless you and keep you safe.
Love your vlogs! You are one of the best. My son and I watch every time there is a new vlog. We have watching for over a year. Keep them coming, it does not matter what content you vlog.
Bella and Billy always make me smile. My late parents were called Isabella and William although he got Billy. Loving your videos from Northern Ireland xx
Beautifully finished lambs , raised with kindness, care and compassion . I wish I had the opportunity to purchase meat from you , but alas I’m in Australia, so I will content myself with supporting your store , if the rest of the mob in here will leave me something to buy ! Love your work lady , all the best Jules.
Glad you got your electricity back. That is such a pain. Well, you did well on the last lambs. The move with the newer lambs seems to have gone without a hitch. You work so hard but look so happy to be back doing what you love to do. So happy for your website! Congrats!
Hi sandi, just watching your previous video where you chat to us about your RUclips journey 2020 and website building. You've got me crying Sandi, I relate to you so much which is why Dan sent you that email months ago. You are truly amazing I just don't know how you do it. Gutted I missed the launch and hope to get a beanie when they're re-released (if they can post to the UK)sending lots of love to you and your wonderful family. Love Yasmin xxxx
Love seeing all the lambs getting so big! Bella is stunning, but Cinnamon is so cute! Remember you want to feed later in the day.... Hint, Hint, Hint! Hugs from Esquimalt
Hi again SANDI Thinking this weaning group isn't as loud this time. They all have looked so good this go around! Hoping you'll have many more of the lamb ornaments! Thought I had enough time but they sold out so fast. Happy for you both. A great new venture!! Looking forward to lambing as always and hope things will go smoothly for you. Thx for sharing such a fun busy time...
Congratulations on the website! I had ordered a SheepishlyMe hoodie a week or so ago and it has arrived. Very comfortable and looks great! Cheers Sandi and take care!
So happy for you that all is well and running fairly smoothly. I always appreciate my lamb (and Sandi) fix for the week! Sending happy thoughts to you guys. 🐑🐏🐑🐏🐑
Hi Sandi Oh my what an exciting video today, you totally made my day, Thank you. I would love a hat as well its getting cold out there snow tomorrow. The lambs 🐑 look amazing cinnamon omg is so sweet I want to meet her lol. Your Fantastic Sandi. Take care Heather
As usual, you make my day. I love the faces of your sheep from birth on. Goat has such personality. Keep being you. We all love You, please never forget that. I would give anything to set and have a cup of coffee with you. Your biggest Colorado fan. 😘😘

Love watching you doing the weaning!! So much to see during the day of weaning the lambs. They sure have grown and fast!!! Such a nice Shepard's Crook from Wendy, a very sweet gesture!!! Thanks again for another great video, you always do great work in everything you do!! Congrats again on the launch of your website. My days are complete with Sandi and her Sheep!
Thanks again, Sandi. Your videos help so much. BTW, cataract surgery went very well. Can’t wait until I get the other eye done. God bless you and yours.
Alot of jobs but I really find your Cupid emoji hellacious but convenient.. lol I think it's official you are a Jack of all trades!!!CONGRATULATIONS on the website and SELLING OUT!!!!!STAY TRUE TO YOUR VISION!!!!🐑🐑🐑🐑🥳🥳🥳🎉🎉🎉✌✌✌🥰🥰🥰🙏🙏🙏
Maybe Mark should look into getting another generator for your barn? I know they aren’t cheap. But how often does you power go out, especially in winter? We gifted to ourselves (about 4 - 2 week vacations worth) a whole house generator. We are fortunate to have natural gas here, but I would have done that on propane. We’ve had it 7 years and it paid for itself the first year we had it. Just an idea to add another generator for your barn.
I’m so happy for you!! I think that it’s really cool that the paper that Mark was working on about farmer to farmer collaborations, is coming to life with you and your friends like Romy! It’s so cool and honestly I wish more people thought of things like you do! So much love to you!!! Kristin from Oklahoma, USA 💙💙💙
Sandi I'm with you about technology , I can do certain stuff. Remember you have fans that love what you do and the info you supply to us. If I need info on sheep, I'm going to ask you. Aslo tell Marc and Jess love all their videos. Am a fan always.
I love watching you. I miss my sheep I raised for 4H. I had one sheep who would jump on me like my dog did. Well after hoof trim one day she did that and I have a scar from my shoulder to the top of where my jeans sit. Be very careful on hoof trimming. I love your channel and have binge watched every episode.
Ouch! Make sure you tell people it is from the time you fought a pirate crew to save orphans from a flaming building. Might as well have an interesting story to go with your interesting scar.
The website is great. Everything I could get was sold out unfortunately. But will keep watching and looking for more inventory. You are awesome and doing great. Love all your videos.
Sandi, I wish you every success with your website! You need a break like everyone else needs. Your pace is way too fast in uploading videos. I am unable to watch your videos as soon as you upload them. Don't be so strict with yourself. Work and enjoy what you have experienced. Otherwise time is running even faster than you want it to. I learned a lot from you. Without you I would never have started keeping sheep. Thank you so much!
that went a ton better than exspected😲they just moved right along! no big fights or anything! this group has been fanominal in numbers and growth!! can't b elive your next group is already ready to lamb in like 2 weeks!! better clean out the pens when you play musical pens🤣so they build some pack up in the meantime. your videos bring me so much joy even though I'm a beef gal at heart...might convince the family to get a calf for next year
It's not just Canada, its *Southern Ontario;* worst of the worst for weather conditions! She's going to NEED to leave that bedding pack for insulation! Or at least, insurance!!
Never get just one. Those end up staying forever! Always get at least 2...then one going for a permanent frozen vacation isn't so hard to convince the family to do(even if the only objector in the family is yourself...)
Got sheepz! Take care .... that wind was making me chilly. My house is a balmy 68F right now, so I don't have a lot of wiggle room. Time too put on a sweatshirt or something. 54F here in central Pennsylvania. Take care.
Last Sunday we were coming back from Ottawa and we ran into that wind . That was crazy and the following days were cold. Awesome video Sandy. We are happy for you guys and keep up with that you have going on . We will be watching.
I bet if you made raw wool bundles, people like myself would buy it, clean it and process it, and then knit it into some Sheepishly me related products. Some of us like raw wool to have it processed how we like. Just an idea. You are doing a great job and your website is wonderful!! Hugs
You should do ornaments for each special sheep - Ruby, Prince William, Billy, Goat, Popcorn, Cinnamon, Rusty, Bella. I think that I got everybody. 🐑🐏🐏🐑🐑🐑🐏🐑
Thank you for another fascinating episode in the never ending story. It was nice to see how big they have grown. And of course Three is ever present for attention. Take care and stay safe and well. Cheers
Oh the challenges! Sorry for your troubles! Sending good vibes your way! Change the feed ration maybe. Went to buy a hat, but sold out congratulations. I’ll be back to try again 💕 I lost my wool cap made from my sheep, so want a wool winter cap! I would love to buy one in natural color not dyed, but happy with a dyed one. Such a up grade on the sheep hook!!
Windy also with me yesterday and no electricity for a few hours for trees had fallen over the line. But I'm not a farmer or so I can do without electricity for a long time worse for you who run a farm but I see that you solved it in the end. Get to see when the real winter pleases come then¨ in any case to me? Have a good Sunday anyway.
What about sheep milk? I believe that Feta is sheep milk cheese. I was thinking that well, if you weren't breeding them right away that the ewes milk could be used to make sheep milk cheese. I don't like it myself, but some people love it. Soooo, just a thought if you know someone around your area that would like to do that and has a way to do it, you could add it to your store or sell it at market.
Are you keeping Bella? Your little cinnamon/follower, hair-chomping lamb? I would be a terrible farmer.....it would be so hard not to keep the ones I developed a bond with or recognized immediately! :) So happy for and proud of your website and shop! Will be watching to see if "Billy Balls" (hahaha) or "Ruthie Ornaments" are restocked!
Always something interesting happening on a farm! 😁 I am bottle feeding a lamb now! So exciting! Lamb therapy!💕 I can't wait for the beanie hat to be restocked! Love watching your videos!💕 Have a great weekend!
I don't know why but weigh day is my favorite to watch. I just love to watch the em go through and see how many go and how many stay. Your so awesome ❤️. Happy holidays
How lucky is your husband for having such a wife.my mother likes you smiling all the time.be happy.
The babies are like, Hey were is mama, are you my mama !😊👍💕💕💕
Never knew lambs/sheep were so affectionate with humans until watching your videos.
Thank you taking the the time share.

Love that you put the lamb bums on the nanny building!
Brrrrrrr cold 🥶 day you got the powers
3:00 Did everyone else hear the wind screaming to get into the lamb barn?
Thought i was hearing things. Make me feel chilly in 76 degree weather!

Im bummed that you are so long without power . I hope the area hit from that storm doesn't have much damage and no one is hurt. Lovely video!

Congratulations on the shop 😊👏👏
Congratulations on your website launch. I am so happy and excited for you.
The babies were stout and good looking. Should be a great for resale.

Listening to that WIND!!! Brought back memories I'd rather it wouldn't have!🤫🥶
Sounds awful in that barn!
Congratulations on the success of your collaboration with your friend on the wool products and on your website.
Hi sandi great job
thanks so much!
Sunday, we were out of Hydro for 2 1/2 days, minus south side roof shingles missing on the house, some shingles missing on the garage peak. A brand new pool blanket stabbed by the shingle(s) right in the centre. But we have a generator we would plug in what ever we thought needed some attention, computer, t.v., gas fireplaces, then fridge and freeze. I had an element that meals were made on.
Not at all like the good old days when the hydro went out, but my parents had a octopus coal fed furnace, hot air rises to a two storey house, was brisk at times. 🇨🇦
I work cows and must I say that tiny shoot you use to weigh them is ADORABLE because I don’t think I’ve ever worked with such small equipment!
Sandi Thanks for all the laughs today . I have had some really stressful days here in Utah . ❤❤
Loving the doo on mama sheep around 12:12 😍 too cute xx
Idea for the grain pails in tractor bucket. Use bungy cord across front or a cargo net to keep the buckets upright and they will less likely to spill.
That should be on a hoodie or a took, I would buy that and I don't buy much.
Thanks again, Sandi. Your videos help so much. BTW, cataract surgery went very well. Can’t wait until I get the other eye done. God bless you and yours.
Oh Diane! So great to hear! I'll be sure to tell my mom!! I'm not sure when her's is scheduled!

I can hear the wind howling on the other side of the sheep door. Yikes! The sheep are going to hate that I think.
Best part of my morning!
Sorry Carol! Can't believe how quickly they sold! There will be more on the website in the next week or so!
@@SandiBrock I’ll keep checking, thanks💕
Windy also with me yesterday and no electricity for a few hours for trees had fallen over the line. But I'm not a farmer or so I can do without electricity for a long time worse for you who run a farm but I see that you solved it in the end. Get to see when the real winter pleases come then¨ in any case to me? Have a good Sunday anyway.
Yay for you getting your website up. Very exciting! Lambs are so fun. I can't wait for our first weaning lol
I'm so glad y'all go so much done in the previous videos before the snow hit! :)
Moms like yeah freedom, babies like mommmmy.
Darren at Blue Cactus Dairy Goats uses that same type Shepherd's Crook, both ends as needed.
Always something interesting happening on a farm! 😁 I am bottle feeding a lamb now! So exciting! Lamb therapy!💕 I can't wait for the beanie hat to be restocked! Love watching your videos!💕 Have a great weekend!
Thanks Carole!
So proud of both of you. God bless!
Loved the camera perspective for the sorting! I really enjoy seeing all of the handling process ☺️
I don't know why but weigh day is my favorite to watch. I just love to watch the em go through and see how many go and how many stay. Your so awesome ❤️. Happy holidays
