Straight From CMI Admission Site: You can apply to any combination of the three MSc programmes: MSc Mathematics, MSc Computer Science and MSc Data Science. The combination that you can apply for depends on entrance examination that you have to chosen to write. If you have selected the MSc Mathematics entrance examination, you can apply to all three MSc programmes. If you have selected the MSc Computer Science entrance examination, you can apply to MSc Computer Science and MSc Data Science, but not to MSc Mathmatics. If you have selected the MSc Data Science entrance examination, you can only apply to MSc Data Science. If you apply to multiple MSc programmes, you will be short-listed based on your performance in the exam that you write and called for an interview for the other programmes.

Hey, if you apply for any of the programs you have to write written test which includes mathematics as major portion. As you said you are from Biology background, exams must be tough for you. For now I would say go through the Exam Syllabus & previous year question papers www.cmi.ac.in//admissions/syllabus.php Although the name is Mathematical Institute, so mathematics is the basic requirement. Hope this answer helps. :)
I think it simply means one should have done at least one or two basic credit courses in CS in their graduation or should have learnt it by some diploma or self training or however. This will ensure good knowledge of Computer science in terms of familiarity. Even if someone coming from nonCS background to pursue Masters in CS, should not be totally ignorant of what Computer Science is.

You confused me too. Apply for both & write the exam of the one whose syllabus is familiar to you & you are comfortable with. I don't think writing MSc CS will lessen your chances to get into any other program. The final selection will depend on your performance. So I would say don't think about these comparisons or so...just prepare your best for what you are eligible & have knowledge about. All the Best!

If you have sufficient knowledge of Mathematics , Statistics and Computer Science and are able to clear the exam and interview , you will be selected. BSc Economics is a good starting point as you already have a good knowledge of Math and Stat. Brush up on the CS Part according to the syllabus and you're good to go.

See as per their requirement, you should have strong background in maths, stats and cs. You are studying BCA which makes your background strong in cs. Also you must have studied mathematics. As a chemistry student you must have graduated BSc. Look at the eligibility criteria. It clearly stats Bsc graduates are eligible, provided they have good knowledge about maths+ stats+comp sci . Now you have to find out whether you pass the given eligibility or not. 👍

I believe so, there is something about the order of programs to apply & accordingly subject admission test is given. This is something where I would request someone from the institute to come forward & clear this very common doubt.

Only thing is you will have to prepare for Entrance exam as per the syllabus & prepare yourself for further courses in program( which you have not studied at all being from mechanical background)... Certainly not, I don't think any regular program allows to pursue any other regular program at the same time. I am sorry to say but the idea itself sounds unintellgent to me. Please focus on any one program.

Hi Nyle, If you must have gone through the video, at time 5:10 it is mentioned that no detail about scholarship is available yet. But it is available for MSc(CS) as per their prospectus, either a current student or their official department can disclose the real details about scholarship. If you do find these details, plz be kind to share with us too :)
Cmi does not disclose the marks but you need to score atleast around 60-65 marks to get qualified. If you have written the exam then do check the results, they're out :)
For this academic session exam is just done..for next year you have one full year...start preparing subjects one by one...looking at the previous year papers & pattern.
As per eligibility given in the notification , A BA candidate should be eligible,additionally some computer science knowledge is also required. If you are concerned about graduating from IGNOU, then in my opinion it should not matter as long as IGNOU is a legitimate way to earn graduation.
For MSc(CS) only WT is there. For MSc(DS) they have mentioned in brochure about the WT+Interview, but some students checked with the admission department and they are saying NO for interview.You can find it in rest of the comments.

Plz go through the video in detail, there is no GATE level entry. CMI has its own entrance exam for admissions, you need to write that.

Yes you are, you need to have studied maths + statistics + Comp. Sci. in order to clear the exam. Go through the previous year papers to find out whether the questions are from your known subjects or not. Also give a look at the syllabus.

As a chemistry student you must have graduated BSc. Look at the eligibility criteria. It clearly stats Bsc graduates are eligible, provided they have good knowledge about maths+ stats+comp sci . Now you have to find out whether you pass the given eligibility or not. 👍

Hi Priya, MSc data science at CMI is a full time course, which makes it offline course. Although due to covid the current going on session started in online mode.

Only thing is you will have to prepare for Entrance exam as per the syllabus & prepare yourself for further courses in program( which you have not studied at all being from mechanical background)... Like discrete maths, statistics, algorithms building, basic computer science concepts etc.

Certainly not, I don't think any regular program allows to pursue any other regular program at the same time.

Hi Nyle, If you must have gone through the video, at time 5:10 it is mentioned that no detail about scholarship is available yet. But it is available for MSc(CS) as per their prospectus, either a current student or their official department can disclose the real details about scholarship.

what is the cut off for getting admission for msc data science
Cmi does not disclose the marks but you need to score atleast around 60-65 marks to get qualified. If you have written the exam then do check the results, they're out :)

Mam I have done BA from IGNOU can I done MSC (cs)
As per eligibility given in the notification , A BA candidate should be eligible,additionally some computer science knowledge is also required.
If you are concerned about graduating from IGNOU, then in my opinion it should not matter as long as IGNOU is a legitimate way to earn graduation.

For MSc(CS) only WT is there.
For MSc(DS) they have mentioned in brochure about the WT+Interview, but some students checked with the admission department and they are saying NO for interview.You can find it in rest of the comments.

If you could demonstrate your research aptitude to the institute , it is very much imperative with the below text(from CMI brochure www.cmi.ac.in/admissions/brochure/2020/cmi-brochure-2020.pdf) that the fees shall not be a barrier.
"A substantial number of scholarships will be available, consisting of a full waiver of the tuition fees. The number of scholarships will be roughly equal to the number of students admitted in recent batches of MSc Computer Science. In addition, a limited number of fellowships will be available, with a monthly allowance of Rs. 6,000. The eligibility of a student to receive scholarships and fellowships will be reviewed every semester and will depend on satisfactory academic performance. CMI is committed to a policy of financial inclusion and strives to ensure that no student is denied an opportunity to study at CMI due to economic circumstances.
