You can make your life easier in point of resource gathering. You should use the electric drills. They are about 3 Times as good as the biofuel drill. Just use one waterwheel per electric drill and you will swim in ores. Remember to place the wheels near the Base so you can empty them out easy and consistant. And Like other comments said at the terminal where you send the exotics you can Shop as well without the need to go in the orbit. Love your work. Have a good time.
So that new biome you discovered is where I started my first playthrough, and if you go to the upper left of F2 there is a river that leads to a nice cave, I highly recommend going and checking it out, also bring some flare arrows, maybe 10? I was amazed with the cave, and I think you'd love it. I love your icarus series you do. You are the one who got me into this game.
Agree 100%! I appreciate it when other content providers skip the boring stuff, but also don’t care for not seeing any of it. The montages are a perfect middle ground. And then the icing on top is the editing and music. Such perfection. Couldn’t ask for more.
Animal Feed! You make it with Seeds and Wheat, but it gives your Mount 100% stam regen and +150 stam. It's soooo good for long trips. Don't know if it's a recipe, I just noticed it one day.
AFAIK it doesn't need unlocking, you just craft it in your inventory. Agreed, it makes long trips much easier. Also, if you hold your water bottle and right click on your mount he'll take water. Saves waiting around for him to decide to drink.
+1, I think about that every time I see you feeding your chocobo with crappy berries :D You don't have to craft those at home btw. Just harvest wheat on the way with the sickle, craft, feed, leave wheat and seeds behind and keep some animal feed for the trip.
GNS needs to research and build a repair station!!! It even repairs workshop items when it has power!!! But being able to repair all of your items in one go is super handy, a little wasteful, but nice when your going out for a long trip. And you should consider making a O2 bottle, lasts like 10hrs. You should also be able to (if I remember correctly) 'feed' water to mounts when the canteens/water bottle is in hand, also bring those soy beans to feed them if you don't want to waste time foraging. Also, researching and building a metal storage is great because it does not take environmental damage.
It pays by tier. That was a T1 mission which is why it does not pay much. Its simply a mission to unlock the area "riverlands" and unlocks a whole bunch of missions in that area now.
prospects can't give out loads, he also took a t1 to unlock another area (the primary reward in..pretty much every game that has quests like that) but do remember that the oribital system is a meta one, and some of the unlocks make a MASSIVE difference, like the canteen and knife (250, and 100 respectively) one of which just stores hours worth of water letting you nearly forget it, and the other is a good skinning knife with a ridiculous amount of durability there's alot of low hanging fruit, and individual upgrades usually aren't all that expensive, even some of the better suits only take ~700 to unlock and craft total they're meta items that are insanely cheap (10ren per) to repair. 175 ren might not seem like alot for the effort, but given it was a low tier quest and that the amount of ren actually needed for most things is rather low, it's payout isn't all that pay. (esp as workshop items that do break, like the knives and pickaxes only require 10 ren each to repair anyway)
@@death299 I hadn't noticed there was a tier system, and I haven't yet played the game. SO this is really good to know for when I'm finally able to get my friend group to give it a try. :)
You inspired me to get this game and I've been having a blast and taking my time unlocking some of stuff you breezed by early on lol. You never made a shield or actual windows for your window slots in your house. If you use the knife or any 1 handed weapon often instead of the bow, consider the shield it's OP, and surely would've saved your life alot in your earlier episodes.
To prevent a forest fire from spreading, you can just harvest all the underbrush around the burning trees. I usually do about ten feet around the trees. Be careful you don't set yourself on fire or you'll be spreading the fire with every step.
You have been really lucky to avoid a fire at your base. I was just about to install the fireplace and I still had a campfire in the middle of the floor. As I moved around to take down ceiling roof pieces to expand my base I accidently stepped in the campfire and proceeded to set the floor and whole center of the building on fire. I had also not researched any fire protection tech. Doh... Luckily if you logout the fire is mostly extinguished so I didn't completely lose my base. It was a close call though. Enjoying the game and your series.
You need the salting table. Salt after you cook and it will preserve it much longer. Loving the videos and this game. It’s all I want to play right now. Does anyone else think the moas looks like a Tauntaun
Useful for me as my base is in F4 right next to the waterfall, i mined everything from another cave nearby in the top left corner of F4 not far from my base.
You can access the workshop menu from the world in the same station you used to call the dropship. You only have to off world if you want to change your suit.
I am glad you think that is a cool place to build cause that is where I built mine. I built right over the water and do not have to worry about to many animals. There is also a cave super close.
A couple of lessons from this session. 1. Always make sure your water is topped up. 2. Make an oxygen tank, it last for hours. 3. Never drop your torch in a forest. 4. Missions in this game often aren't worth the pay.
Can you have multiple of each of the giant stone animal statues? If so I’d love to see someone make a giant life sized chessboard in the front yard of their base using all the different statues.
From trying to make some advance electronics stuff to just fishing..... The priority on this one seems to be backwards... and I love it cuz in every game that has fishing in it... It'll be my greatest past time other than actually playing the game XD
Do you not use the Icarus map genie when you play ? It shows all the caves and map terrain ! Btw it's much easier to build all your crafting tables in a cave when you first land on a planet . Just make sure you have yeast , charcoal, and epoxy to make antibiotics to counter pneumonia you might get from being in a cave too long
If you ever decide to build a base in the riverlands, follow river up placed the beacon on, down stream and there is a really nice hilltop to build a fortified base on. And there is an inventory crafting recipe for mount food that is really good for mounts.
Top center of river lands (top left of F2) has a MASSIVE cave too under the waterfalls that is perfect for farming and thumping for the resource regen. We built a starter base down below in the valley and then moved it up on the mountain shelves next to the small rivers/waterfalls and used that to supply water to our farm.
i made a recall beacon for my ship i placed it aprox 300 meters away from base then called it in when inside grinding away until everything broke apart, seemed the naughty rocket decided to go tru my base instead so it wrecked my base in half , took a good 5 days to rebuild (i have a base hanging out from a mountain funnsie)
An other nice episode for sure, thanks for your content. How did you make the clip next to the placed beacon ? Is it the 3rd person view with alt ? I never managed to get that far. Very minor tip : if you have to build again with ladders and floors, try the floor piece that has a hole in it. You can place every one facing the same direction with several ladders crossing. Or for safety, reverse the direction and placing ladders 1 by 1. Not saying you tend to fall (yes I am), but this way you can walk on each level.
it's funny how our playsyle is shifted...you're still using bone arrows, but I rather quickly grabbed up a couple higher tiers, I never did figure out how to buy bows, forgot how you got your good one, and lately found out the stuff you can craft is about as good as what you can buy for equpiment...there are some exceptions but the tools and weapons, not really a good buy. it's a good game, though. and only once I got into high tier stuff has the death count of my moas gone down....I started collecting them once i got the soybeans growing and just...kept a spare...and then a random baby moa would show up at my doorstep and I'd adopt it, and now i have like 5 hanging out...but finally after like 10 dead mostly due to bear attacks, i'm able to keep him alive! mostly by having a savage vendetta against bears, and horses...*grumble*

Surprised you've not made at least an oxygen bladder or oxygen tank and an oxite dissolver. The metal tank out of the machining bench I think in particular makes oxygen management a non question. Goes in the oxygen slot in your suit and just keeps you at 100% oxygen permanently until it runs out. I always carry an oxygen tank in my suit and a bladder in my inventory for emergencies. Think it also uses oxygen/oxite more efficiently if you fill a bladder or tank instead of just snorting the stuff!
Just to add - you get better suits from the station for Ren and/or exotics that have similar slots for food and water. Makes managing those resources much easier.
