The PRS SE NF3 is (IMO) Paul Smith's MOST REFINED spin on the planet's most popular, most iconic and most imitated electric guitar. He addresses so many of the things many of us would like to see improved upon. Leo and George's glorious mid 50s design is timeless, make no mistake about it! HOWEVER, THIS IS NOT A STRAT CLONE! THE SE NF3 is its own thing. Also, Paul's decision to introduce this guitar in the SE model is IMHO one of the wisest and most appreciated marketing moves in the history of modern musical instrumentation. Thanks Paul! I have my eye on the BEAUTIFUL PEARL WHITE / MAPLE FINGER BOARD MODEL. That being said, I'd love to play an NF3 built to the Company's CORE standards, specifications, finishes and upgraded wood choices.

It's a winner Benny! Couldn't stop myself from ordering one in Gunmetal Grey with a rosewood fretboard. It's the only one with a white pickgaurd, and it makes the black parts pop! I refuse to pay more than $949 for one, with a fancy new hardcase included.
For the pricepoint they are hands down the best strats around, even cheaper than the silver sky! I love the white guard, def makes the pups pop for sure. Lmk what you think when she arrives!
@@TheNeuroticGuitarist Probably won't be till next week now, because Sweetwater hasn't done the certified fit case thing on it yet. I'm getting one of them sick new ATA hardcases with mine that just came out. It's worth it to prevent the inevitable S curve and probable twist that almost any guitar that ships without a case can incur. I'm pretty picky, and my McCarty .594 singlecut arrived with the previously mentioned scenario going on. Had to untension the trussrod and leave it sit in the hardcase without strings for awhile, to get the neck to relax, and straighten itself out with gravity. Don't wanna dick around with this one. I'm actually paying slightly more for this model. Don't care for the colors much, or the black pickgaurds. But the Gunmetal Grey is always a cool color, and it's the only one with a white pickgaurd. Then a crispy dark rosewood fretboard on top of the satin maple neck! Pow! Right in the kisser! A knockout combo for my wallet! Ha ha! Plus it has all these specs that no other gee tar I currently own has. "Wide Thin" carve on a satin maple bolt on neck. A dark rosewood fretboard with abalone bird inlays. And obviously the pickups are the star of the show! She's a looker!
Now I want to play One!! I only have 3 stratocasters 89' Clapton, late 90's American Standard, and Mexican hot rod'd out with Seymour Duncan ssl-1 and ssl-5, and Dimarzio stacked humbucker in the bridge, trebble bleed, upgraded pots, 2 way toggle to make 7-way selector, Kluson lockers, and graph tech nut, and string trees, EVH speed volume, kill switch, and switched out rosewood neck, for maple, XXL frets, and action set up for speed!
I have to tell you, this blows away my SAS and my silver sky. It honestly blows away most of my strats. I wish I could have done better with this video so I'm 100% gonna do a better demo.

Silver Sky is truly more vintage strat with Mayer’s preferred rounder radius and brighter hissy single coils NF3 flatter fretboard. Paul calls nf3 a hum-bucking single coil. A modern approach to strat (like the G&L legacy model equipped with MFD pickups)
I'm not against it. I'm thinking about starting an online store this year. Enough people ask me for guitars that I dig so why not find and sell some to help support the channel. Thoughts?

Guitar looks great. Even SEs have great craftsmanship but I’m not sure I’m digging the sound not only in this video but all of the vids out for this guitar. They may be compressed RUclips videos but even with that you should still be able to hear a good tone and I’m not hearing it. I’ll have to play one in person before I purchase.
I absolutely love the tone but I haven't been able to use it in a critical situation yet. This video is nowhere near the production value of what I do so the sound was only done with a lav and not directly into my normal DAW properly micd...Def make up your own mind but I dig it personally
I just received a custom 24 in turquoise and all I had to do was tune up a half step on all strings and I was good to go. I LOVE PRS guitars. They’re what Gibson USED to be years ago before the corporate mentality took hold.
The guitar in the video is literally a forever guitar for me. I told Jeanne at PRS she could pry it out of my cold dead hands. Not really, she's super nice, but I made clear I had to own it. They're very nice people at PRS!!!! I really appreciate how awesome this guitar is and I can't wait to get it into the studio and put her to work

I def was amped up. The whole story of how long it took.me to get that guitar got edited down, but to be clear, it was sent to my old house, I was told it was being held by the fed ex 40 miles away from me..I drive there...it's not there, it's on its way to Boston which is even further away and then to Raynham. I had them call Raynham and stalked it there. So i was def amped by the time I opened that thing

This video doesn't even do this guitar justice. It's so much better than any of my other SEs. I'd legit use this instead of strats or teles. I wish I had it with the maple fretboard. I am gonna have to get a second one.
@TheNeuroticGuitarist I had a home studio 48track recording! Small full band area! I bought an acreage and built a new house, but my studio is smaller, and no one wants to drive out in the country! Sooo..? Now I'm a one man band! 😆 oh well, I'm old now anyway! I can't believe my 1983 Gibson les paul custom pearl white is 41 years old! Seem like 83 was just yesterday! 😆 Thanks 🤘

The SE edition is new as of 12pm today. That guitar for 799 is a game changer. And FYI, there were guitars like the eg4 and all kinds of other strat like guitars before the nf3.
Man, when you're playing in a cover band live, and you're in "that bar" that has some kind of wonky electrical evil, and you think you can take you're single coil guitar in there, you know that there is going to be over the top 60 cycle hum just flying out of your amplifier...there was this one place we played at, and the guy's band I was playing in knew that place wasn't right...bad power or grounding...something not right about the power in that place...I had one strat style active single coil pickups guitar, a Warmoth build that his son put together, and that was the only guitar that I could use in that venue, because the hum was just over the top that bad...but even a room that is decent, if it has florescent lighting, or even if it doesn't, you can still hear it when using a single coil guitar...but this PRS guitar? For one thing, IMO, it has a few big things going for it....one is consistency in output when switching from one tone position to another...tonal pallet changes, output/ volume stays consistent...another is that it "quacks" in the in between positions...some cover songs (and you probably know what songs I'm talking about), if you want what you are playing to have the same tonal thing going on that the original release has, then that guitar has to "quack" to sound like that song, regardless if you like that quacky deal or not (I really like having the 2/4 position "quack" option...on some songs and applications, nothing else fits better)...does it really "tele"? I don't know...like chicken pickin' tele? It may take some amp tweaking to see...to me, Tele tones are neutral...but I wonder if a push/ pull or push push mod, like is in that Swampy guitar you have off to the side, to where you can utilize the neck and the bridge pickup, or all three, would get the NF3 in tele tonal ballpark range?...not sure. Regardless, there is a store in my area that got some NF3 SE guitars in, so it will be worth the drive today to go check them out. Thanks for the video, man. Hope you and yours are doing great!
That's why I hate single coils. Cool for a sound in the studio but unusable for me in a live scenario when playing with high gain. Not a problem with the narrowfields. Beautiful ax my friend, would love to get my hands on one some day. I recently left my worship leader job so I am thinking to start shooting vids in my newly setup guitar studio while I am between gigs. Have to stop buying new gear until I get a new revenue stream. Everything is still in boxes...there's a layer of dust on everything of my house from all the work. This guitar deserved a more epic video but I appreciate that between jim, myself, Jeanne at prs and my buddy Josh, that we were able to cobble it together with the world stacked against us.

Guitar looks great. Even SEs have great craftsmanship but I’m not sure I’m digging the sound not only in this video but all of the vids out for this guitar. They may be compressed RUclips videos but even with that you should still be able to hear a good tone and I’m not hearing it. I’ll have to play one in person before I purchase.
I absolutely love the tone but I haven't been able to use it in a critical situation yet. This video is nowhere near the production value of what I do so the sound was only done with a lav and not directly into my normal DAW properly micd...Def make up your own mind but I dig it personally

I just received a custom 24 in turquoise and all I had to do was tune up a half step on all strings and I was good to go. I LOVE PRS guitars. They’re what Gibson USED to be years ago before the corporate mentality took hold.
The guitar in the video is literally a forever guitar for me. I told Jeanne at PRS she could pry it out of my cold dead hands. Not really, she's super nice, but I made clear I had to own it. They're very nice people at PRS!!!! I really appreciate how awesome this guitar is and I can't wait to get it into the studio and put her to work

I def was amped up. The whole story of how long it took.me to get that guitar got edited down, but to be clear, it was sent to my old house, I was told it was being held by the fed ex 40 miles away from me..I drive there...it's not there, it's on its way to Boston which is even further away and then to Raynham. I had them call Raynham and stalked it there. So i was def amped by the time I opened that thing

Benny..I've got a 35th anniversary se 24-08 that I'm going to sell & immediately buy one..
This video doesn't even do this guitar justice. It's so much better than any of my other SEs. I'd legit use this instead of strats or teles. I wish I had it with the maple fretboard. I am gonna have to get a second one.

@TheNeuroticGuitarist I had a home studio 48track recording! Small full band area! I bought an acreage and built a new house, but my studio is smaller, and no one wants to drive out in the country! Sooo..? Now I'm a one man band! 😆 oh well, I'm old now anyway! I can't believe my 1983 Gibson les paul custom pearl white is 41 years old! Seem like 83 was just yesterday! 😆 Thanks 🤘

The rosewood neck looks great. I’m so tired of seeing Indian laurel or pau ferro on guitars necks these days.

New? This was around 10 years ago or longer if anything it was the baseline for the Silversky.
The SE edition is new as of 12pm today. That guitar for 799 is a game changer. And FYI, there were guitars like the eg4 and all kinds of other strat like guitars before the nf3.
@@TheNeuroticGuitarist NF3 been around since 2008 the only thing new is the SE version.
Man, when you're playing in a cover band live, and you're in "that bar" that has some kind of wonky electrical evil, and you think you can take you're single coil guitar in there, you know that there is going to be over the top 60 cycle hum just flying out of your amplifier...there was this one place we played at, and the guy's band I was playing in knew that place wasn't right...bad power or grounding...something not right about the power in that place...I had one strat style active single coil pickups guitar, a Warmoth build that his son put together, and that was the only guitar that I could use in that venue, because the hum was just over the top that bad...but even a room that is decent, if it has florescent lighting, or even if it doesn't, you can still hear it when using a single coil guitar...but this PRS guitar? For one thing, IMO, it has a few big things going for it....one is consistency in output when switching from one tone position to another...tonal pallet changes, output/ volume stays consistent...another is that it "quacks" in the in between positions...some cover songs (and you probably know what songs I'm talking about), if you want what you are playing to have the same tonal thing going on that the original release has, then that guitar has to "quack" to sound like that song, regardless if you like that quacky deal or not (I really like having the 2/4 position "quack" option...on some songs and applications, nothing else fits better)...does it really "tele"? I don't know...like chicken pickin' tele? It may take some amp tweaking to see...to me, Tele tones are neutral...but I wonder if a push/ pull or push push mod, like is in that Swampy guitar you have off to the side, to where you can utilize the neck and the bridge pickup, or all three, would get the NF3 in tele tonal ballpark range?...not sure. Regardless, there is a store in my area that got some NF3 SE guitars in, so it will be worth the drive today to go check them out. Thanks for the video, man. Hope you and yours are doing great!
That's why I hate single coils. Cool for a sound in the studio but unusable for me in a live scenario when playing with high gain. Not a problem with the narrowfields. Beautiful ax my friend, would love to get my hands on one some day. I recently left my worship leader job so I am thinking to start shooting vids in my newly setup guitar studio while I am between gigs. Have to stop buying new gear until I get a new revenue stream. It definitely has, my friend. I'm not back yet. Still a little bit from the full studio being finished so I can move my stuff in. Everything is still in boxes...there's a layer of dust on everything of my house from all the work. This guitar deserved a more epic video but I appreciate that between jim, myself, Jeanne at prs and my buddy Josh, that we were able to cobble it together with the world stacked against us.
