- An Evening With Harry Belafonte, an hour long, PBS-TV live-to-tape interview program provided a rare look inside the life and times of the legendary Harry Belafonte. Taped on November 2, 2000 at The Art Institute of Chicago, entertainer and humanitarian Harry Belafonte was interviewed by his friend and fellow actor/humanitarian, Danny Glover. Mr. Belafonte has appeared in countless performances and has been honored throughout his life with many awards. Seldom, if ever, had he been interviewed about his life story prior to this An Evening With... event.

Thanks Harry, because of you and many like you the younger generations like myse)f have life that much better.
We are so very fortunate to be able to see and hear this wonderful interview between these two highly spiritual political men! They both are icons for us!
What an amazing story! Immigrants enrich our nation in untold ways! As a librarian, I also appreciate the footnote anecdote.
I had no idea that America called Martin Luther King a Communist! That was so crazy!
The original concept - initial structure, rather than what it became - is NOT what it became.
Human nature, apparently, is less than trustworthy when there is a lingering aristocracy…

What a wonderful man Harry Belafonte is, never thinking of himself but always thinking of other people. This interview with him was very touching. I myself would have loved being able to meet him in person to thank him for all the work he has done also, the songs he sings with such strong feelings. Thank you Mr Harry Belafonte. xx
Whatta Man whatta Man we need more men like him this day and time with all the gun violence going and underlining prejudice. Person that thinks not of himself is truly a man of God. We need more Brothers.

Salute Harry 💯 % great 👍 man of our time. Rip 🙏 Mr. Harry Bellefonte
When I heard Harry Belafonte died, I started to look to find more information about him. I found this interview that shows what a great human being he was, he fought for the blacks around the world, not only in the USA, the most mistreated people in the planet. Harry is a great example for all humanity, sadly now days rich blacks are indiferent to the suffering and struggles of their own people. They have private jets, lavish hauses, extravagant life stiles and very few help to others, their ego is too big to see reality.
Harry Belmonte gave his all for the colour people. I am sure you are in the kingdom of God. RIP
Blanca, Mr. Belafonte is a great man, talented musician, gifted performer, philosopher, philanthropist and servant of God. He now is at home in Paradise!
Wonderful summary of this man. Great example to us all…May he rest in peace!! 57:01

Harry Belafonte and Sidney Poitier, two of the world's greatest entertainers who ever walked on the surface of this earth. They came, they saw and they conquered. May Their Dear Souls Forever Rest In Peace.
They didn't just walk the Earth they lifted our weary souls to new heights and have now left the surly bonds of Earth and now sing with the angels. They await us.

I have always called this man my mentor in life. Everyone that I introduce him to says that he was so wise. It's so valuable that he is documented in these videos. I have every album, seen him in concert maybe 10-15 times, but I saw him in lecture form one time and that meant more than any of his entertaining.
RIP My Jamaican Brother Harry Belafonte! I will you Harry. You made Jamaica proud.
RIP Harry Belafonte
I love this great man. RIP
A Great Person He is.
A 'catalyst' for sure....moves the 'game' forward. Just organizing the worldwide fundraiser 'We are the World' shows how his great mind works: expansive and 'big picture'.
Dear Danny and Harry, Thank you for your contributions in the Art and everything...

Dearest Harry may you rest in peace 😘
I was mesmerized by this interview what a wonderful life to give it to do good for others.
WELL DONE ! WELL SAID !!
Oh, how we will miss Harry Belafonte sharing the earth with us, as of today, the day he died. As a Berner, I am steeped in the stories and lives of the disenfranchised, immigrants, minorities and those with "different lives." These are my people as I was "different" too. Music is central to my family and my heart, as its universal strains can reach us all. I loved both Belafonte and Glover (see Grand Canyon.) A common theme in our families has been the military, as for decades it was, sometimes, the only way to a free education. Belafonte got his education by reading the references in a Dubois book - Amazing. Tickets to a play at the American Negro Theater in Harlem in a Library Basement opened Belafonte's eyes, his yearning for talent and "To show life as it should be." Let's love each other today, for Harry.
Thanks to Harry Belafonte for spending his life challenging and helping to overturn racial barriers. For the role he played in ending apartheid in South Africa, and aiding in the release of Nelson Mandela. His contribution to the Arts is legendary. Thank you so much Sir, rest in honor. We miss you, condolences to your family.
Harry , rest in perfect peace!!
What an admirable man, a great singer--RIP
