I just watched the movie Maudi and it left me searching for the answer to many questions. Number one, how closely did the movie compare to Maud’s real life, who was the father of Maud’s child and how did she become pregnant, was she raped or was it consensual? What ever happened to Charles, and why/what made Everette so cruel, abusive and downright mean? How did he come to the live in the orphanage? And did Maud’s daughter ever get to know who her mother was? The story of Maud Lewis referring back to the movie version , was sadly inspiring. Maud found joy and passion through painting and color and even though she might have been being used to fulfill her husbands greed it seems like she took no notice because she continued to produce happiness in painting. Or at least that’s what I’d like to think happened.
