Mega Drive version is also quite good, better attempt at doing some sort of super scaler port than Space Harrier II and Super Thunder Blade. I still love the 3DS version (all of the 3D Classics really).
@@jasonlee7816 I believe Super Hang On works better because the arcade game is less complex to start with. No disrespect for Super Thunder Blade and Space Harrier II, they were the system's launch titles and they were quite bold but especially Super Thunder Blade, the arcade game was too much for the Mega Drive to chew and as a result the gap between the arcade Thunder Blade and that game is bigger than Super Hang On. I never knew ZX Spectrum made this, my computer before was one and I had things like "Pssst", "Jet Pac", etc on it. My other friends had C64 with more and better games at that time, but seeing this compilation Spectrum version is better than C64. Maybe the color scheme sucks, along with the Armstad one....but the bikes really do seem to be running unlike this C64 ones. Along with technological advances the newer versions were better-looking, but cannot say for the PC-Dos and Mac versions. Mega Drive version is also quite good, better attempt at doing some sort of super scaler port than Space Harrier II and Super Thunder Blade. I still love the 3DS version (all of the 3D Classics really).
i thought Space Harrier ll and Super Thunder Blade were better attempts on the Sega Genesis/Mega-Drive
Even though Super Thunder Blade doesn't really try to be a straight port of the arcade anyway, which was quite clever to set expectations.
are you sure the music isn't glitched? that can't be right...
no audio commentary on what you think of each version ? too bad
Wow the sharp x68k version seems to be doing some sprite scaling stuff, or emulating it at least
My favorite version is the Genesis/Mega Drive as I played it religiously. And it was a great port of the arcade game. Best ver. is definitely the 3DS. It's even better than the X68000.
The C64 game is one of the worst port I've seen on any system... EVER! Can't even tell they're riding motorcycles.
some of the colours (graphics)
in the 3DS port looked too dark
Sharp X68000 version is the
winner over the 3DS version
Why did you superimpose "Commodore 64" on footage clearly belonging to the VIC-20?
Oh, THAT'S the Commodore 64 version?
Quits silently...
This game reminds me of the original Hang on and Space Harrier.
it runs on the same hardware, I think
@@poble Pretty much: The arcade board they used was an upgraded version of the original Super Scaler board.
I had an Amiga and this was my favorite game. I'd run it without music and played "Pump Up The Jam" on my tape recorder while playing. I'd go from one continent version to another...I only finished Africa though. Fun times.
My favorite among these....well I have a bias for Amiga, but of course the OG is the Arcade. Mac is like....unique...looks more retro in B & W....but kinda looks unrelated to the game itself.
Goddamn, look at the Amiga version's smooth movement and scaling!
Yeah, shame the sound kinda blows though
And in 1988 it was a rather early Amiga release which makes it even more impressive.
@@MrTuxee Imagine what they could've done with the power of an Amiga 1200
And the sound fx of the Amiga version is what made it really stand out, I mean just listen to that engine and tyre skid noises, just awesome, made the other versions sound weak.
@@ZEUSDAZ the 3DS, GBA, Sega Genesis/Mega-Drive, Sharp X68000 ports seemed to sound more impressive unlike the Amiga version

The Amstrad version looks better than the C64 one 😂
Genesis is a very good port!
Loved the music on c64 but when the spectrum has a better sence of speed. Something went wrong
for the time, it was pretty good
Sega Genesis/Mega-Drive
a 30%, 40%, 50% good port
@@jasonlee7816 Given it was an early release on hardware massively inferior to the arcade, the Mega Drive version is outstanding. What on earth were you expecting? 🤡
How come Africa gotta be the beginner course

Hahaha good one
Don't know why lot of Spectrum race games had better scrolling than the C-64. Bravo to Spectrum 👏👏👏
It had a faster CPU, so it's actually better suited to running that type of game. That said, the C64 version of Super Hang-On shouldn't really be used as a reference for what the C64 is capable of! 😆
@@sjake8308 yeaaah, or Enduro Racer among others. Thanks for the info, it makes sense now.
Sweet 😊
i wasn’t surprised how Amiga/ST Super Hang On turned out as it was ported by Electric Dreams/Software Studios (Activision) known for bad, lazy, rushed Amiga/ST ports of After Burner, Altered Beast, Atomic Robo-Kid, Dragon Breed, Galaxy Force, Power Drift, R-Type, Wonder Boy in Monster Land
Super Hang on for Amiga was really good, looked good, played fast and the sou d fx of the engine and tyre skid noises were fantastic, if U. S. Gold had produced it,....best not think about it.
@@ZEUSDAZ if the Amiga port (version) might’ve been an Atari ST remake that made (makes) it worse
@@jasonlee7816 It played and sounded bloody great though :-)
@@ZEUSDAZ i could be wrong the Atari ST port sounds like they made better use of the audio than v Amiga
like the good most Commodore 64 think sound but ok this motorcycle out Sharp X68000 really with great.
I'm surprised there were no master system, game gear, Sega CD, 32x and Sega saturn ports...
the Master System had the original Hang On game Sega might’ve had to pay a license fee for each of the other ports (versions)
Can you do Pacman Clones please
You left out the Dreamcast version. It's the second best while the best, remains the Arcade.
One of those times where the soind on Genesis was better than wll the rest.
megadrive was the best version and the winning run was the best song for the race 😅
Tricky one but I'm going to go with the arcade one as the best version
Look at how terrible the versions for PC DOS and Macintosh were when Amiga and ST were their contemporaries, and Amiga and ST didn't survive, the WORST did.
My Favorite Version Nintendo 3DS
Oh poor CPC, plagued by the lazyness and/or incompetence of various softwarehouses of the time that insisted on making lazy and crappy ports of speccy versions.
The CPC was capable of much more.
Well sometimes a lazy port from a great speccy version would have been better that the pile of shit they ended up trying to do their own thing so it wasn’t always bad. Like, I would have much preferred a lazy speccy port from Space Harrier than that god awful wireframe 3D thing. In this case though, the port ended up making it so slow it wasn’t really good.
I suspect the dev team were given 2 weeks to write the C64 version but man that is so so bad.
C64 version is a travesty. ST version was decent back in the day and even had mouse control.
the Amiga and/or ST versions look, move, sound, like incompetent, lazy, rushed, port done in 3, 5, 7, seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months
3ds is the same as the arcade. The closest Arcade port is Genesis & game boy advance plus X68000 .
AMSTRAD LOOKS AMAZING AND GREAT
PS3 version was great too!
Ohh!
I really like the Dreamcast version
are you thinking of Hang On GP a racing video game developed by Genki and published by Sega for Sega Saturn? Dreamcast version
is/was never made nor did it exist
that's just an emulation of the arcade version
@@jasonlee7816 I think they are referring to version of it that can be played in Shenmue on the Dreamcast.
I loved my C64 and the sound track for the C64 version is pretty good, but the sound effects and graphics were horrific and by far the worst. Even the Spectrum looked miles better.
Arcade megadrive 🤗
GBA did a good job to be honest
is it the best possible or they could’ve done better?
@@jasonlee7816 I think not because of the limitations, but it is very faithful to the original

The C64 for all the good things you can say about it, driving/racing games absolutely SUCKED on the C64, they may have put out 1 or 2 good ones the entire existence

Muito bom vídeo! Para mim a melhor versão é a do mega drive 😃
OMG! I just wanted to know how they managed to make such a horribly poorly made, ugly and totally unplayable version as the C64? And how did they manage to put the main elements and almost all of the existing arcade gameplay on Speccy's modest hardware??!!
3ds version is better than arcade
@JM Coulon this guy is talking out of his ass, I genuinely don’t understand what he’s talking about lol

Also the ZX spectrum and Mac ports are shit how do did people enjoy playing games the graphics are shit on the zzz spectrum it’s like they used a highlighter for the colors and did a shitty job of highlighting the right spots also on Mac how do you play games in B/W I mean it was the 80s and 90s why didn’t it have color it’s not like it’s cheap like the game boy
They made a decent version on the ZX Spectrum within the limitations of the hardware. The colours were what was available so if you take all that into consideration, it's a good conversion!
