- Scarlatti was a master of motivic writing. Notice the little rhythmic device that he places at the end of many of the phrases (two 32nd notes to a 16th note). He does this 11 times in the first half, and 29 times in the second half, for a total (with repeats) of 80 occurrences! Special moment: When the hand crossing figure that you've heard half a dozen times suddenly extends and blooms into a beautiful harmony (2:35).
This is probably my favourite Scarlatti's sonata. Well done!
