  • Part 3 of a great weekend, after the great day in Harpers Ferry West Virginia, we stayed to long to drive home that night, so back to the hotel we went, and upon studying the map for the trip home, I then realized that I was only an hour away from Baltimore MD, and what great thing is in Baltimore, but the B&O railroad museum, so I put my head to the pillow like a kid on Christmas night anticipateing what a waits the next morning. After a restless slumber, I a woke, threw the wife in the car, grabbed a coffee, filled the gas tank and away we went, and gleefully purchased our tickets and had a great time exploring the roundhouse, I too hope you enjoy this video, and if you've never been and are in the area someday you should stop in and see the stream lined beautiful Hudson. I hope you enjoyed my impromptu weekend getaway be sure to go back and see part 1 and 2. As always I thank you for watching and your support and kind words you leave in the comments..

    I Love the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore Maryland i did started going there for my 1st time with my dad and i saw all steam/Diesel Locomotives and Freight/passenger cars and cabooses there!! It was a good expierence because i saw CSX number 1507 a EMD GP-15 Diesel Locomotive! I also saw Baltimore & Ohio EMD GP30 Diesel Locomotive number 6944 and others too!

    Number 51 did passenger service from Jersey City to Washington D.C. from 1937 til circa 1958 also stopping at Philadelphia. The Jersey City Terminal still exists in Jersey City in the state park at the waterfront facing Brooklyn but without railroad tracks. People took a bus that went to the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad ferry terminal to Battery Park in Manhattan and traveled by Broadway up to Columbus Circle on 59th Street on the west side of Central Park. In 1962 my late father and I went to my first New York Car Show and the bus terminal was still there 1 block from the New York Coliseum where the auto show was held and was used for other exhibitions. It and the bus terminal no longer exists as well as many other places in NYC my old hometown. Thankfully there are places that the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad served still exists.

    • @TriGogglin
      @TriGogglin  2 года назад +1

      Thank you for your comment Mike, but I got the facts straight from the museum, the 490 is a L-1 class 4-6-4 "Hudson" type. It was originally built in 1926 as an F-19 class 4-6-2 "pacific" type, and rebuilt in 1947 as a "Hudson" and if you listen in the video I never said the "51" was the first streamline loco, I said it was the first streamlined Diesel - Electric locomotive.
