Just a quick tip if anyone has Maschine, Battery or Komplete:
If there’s a kit you like in Maschine or Battery you can search the kit name in the one-shot section of Komplete.
Then you can shift select the 16 One shots that come up and drag them into Logic to create a DMD kit.
Then save it to your user patches.
Much easier than trying to use Maschine as a plugin within logic and a LOT more flexible with the DMD format.
Was searching all over the web for this thank you !!!
Thank you 💯🥹
The integration of the drum machine designer, step sequencer, quick sampler/sampler and drum synth etc, is pretty damn sweet! The GUI for Logic keeps getting nicer too.
I love how you can drag a whole sample pack in, and open a drum machine designer with that sample pack. So easy
💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Too many producers sleeping on Logic Pro
Right!!!
And I’m not one of them! Logic is absolutely ELITE! That I’ve abandon my purchase of a Maschine Drum pads. Everything is in that daw that I don’t need to buy anything else! The stock plugins are great except the instruments and sounds but other than that Logic is fantastic
I’m woke in Logic Only Day I compose in… I’ll mix in PT or sum else maybe but not compose
The learning curve is steep so a lot of people shy away from it. Logic is truly the best daw for taking a project from start to finish
Also a lot of people forget how good Logic is when it comes to sound for video
So proud of you bro. I’ve been using Logic for many years and this is probably one of the simplest and most informative videos I’ve ever seen on one of its features. More power to you friend!
Thank you for the 'Separate By Note Pitch' tip/command I've been trying to work that out for over a year now. Cheat code for real man . Cheers
That workflow is SUPER DOPE. Not complicated. So clean and easy to look at. Control is a under statement.
Bolo...I just discovered you tonight, while procrastinating on my Linux homework. It was well worth it however! You seem like a very genuine person and with talent to back it up! Thanx for sharing and I look forward to seeing more of your inspirational vids! Happy new Year!
Ok, this is the info I needed which the last 4 videos I watched seemed to have no conception of. Perfect. Thanks!
Bro this was right on time. Been a logic user for about 6 years and I never considered using the Drum Machine Designer until this video. Workflow has been enhanced..
Oh Yeah! Man, I love this tutorial. You have such enthusiasm and yet this is very instructional. I hit subscribe and the bell in 2 minutes. Thanks! Bolo, I'll be watching your back catalog and your new stuff as it comes!
Great tutorial! I was looking to get started with the drum machine designer and now I know enough to get going! Just liked and subscribed!
Thank you again Big dawg! I recently got Logic and never knew about this. Just purchased the Buffs Kits to show my appreciation for all your work
I’ve been producing for over 20 years and Logic has always been my DAW. I got stuck on version 10.4 for years due to my old iMac not able to update, so I couldn’t use all of the cool new stuff that they released in 10.5. I’ve since upgraded to a Mac Studio so I’m FINALLY able to start using all the new features. I didn’t know this about the drum machine, it’s a game changer for me. Thanks for the video!
Absolutely. Used Battery 3 and 4 until Logic made this DMD update back in Logic 10.5 and never looked back
Thanks for the reminder to get your new kit. Now I have them all! BOOOLOOOOOOOOO!
Thanks!!!
thats why it helps to really explore logic and see what's what. And that goes for every other DAW open up different things and see what's what.
Thanks for this video. I will now experiment with mapping the DMD to a pad controller. That seems to be the natural surface for getting the most out of the DMD.
Thank you Brotha for the tutorial makes the workflow much better 🙏🏿
thanks man!! very nice to watch :)
This is insane 👀🔥🔥🔥 being able to also have each track with its own individual piano roll is crazy to me, wow!
Bolo Great Video! I was a Logic Pro user, and the main reason was because of the Designer Pro. I switched to Studio One Sphere because of the enormous content. This was the main reason why because Impact XT was formidable to Drum Designer Pro! 🥁
You're a great teacher man, thank you!
My man God bless you helped me a lot with this video man , a million thanks to you bro
super helpful ty man
This was great - thank you!
Big brother Bolo, that’s really nice 👍🏻 Thanks for sharing with us.
Thanks!
Game changer !!!!!!!!
I use ultrabeats because ti was hard for me using the Drum machine designer !!! Another logic tip to improve my work Flow THUMBS UP
Hey man… Thank you for everything… Seriously you are helping me so much
This is super sick - I’ve used Logic for years but never effed with DMD! I love being able to mess with the note pitch!
Great video, thanks Bolo
My dude you don't know how much this video helped man thank you dearly. I am now staying in logic for a long time.
Thanks fir watching!!
Awesome. Thanks!
this was perfect man thank you
I am gonna have to revisit Drum Machine Designer after this video. Still looking for that effective workflow. Thanks!
Thanks for taking the time
Great vid 💪🏽
You’ve just changed my life bolo!! Thankyou brother
Thanks for watching!
As a Reason Studios 12 user, Kong is the thing we use to do the same thing. Many of these DAWs are the same. Its all about what the user prefers. If I had a mac I may have been a logic user BUT Reason goes hard to me.💪🏽
jus copped ur kit! had no idea logic had a drum machine
Awe man you loaded me up. I always thought you couldn’t go up and down octaves but yesir. We loaded
Love this! And go Rays
I just started using logic and im very impressed how good it is
Ok, I've been sleeping on this one. Thank you.
It operates exactly like maschine, that's fire. I wish Ableton's drumrack processed midi like this.
SOO good!
So it's essentially an instrument summing track stack. I see What they did... I manually create those to layer keyboard sounds with string sounds and other types of pads. I thought it was something completely different, but I see how they put it together. That was a good move on their part to make it work more simply
Much appreciated boss!
Nice it’s like the MPC explode workflow👌🏾
Great video bro. Grace & Peace
The patterner has a lot more controls, such as velocity, note repeat, etc. Definitely worth designing a pattern by clicking in notes and then converting to MIDI - unless you prefer to just play the kit pieces in using the keyboard. But I think creating patterns first is a sweeter way of working.
It’s funny cause I’m the opposite.
I’m a musician before I’m a producer so I prefer something tactile to play in cause I find clicking about switches my brain off.
I have the akai MPK and MPC one and use them as midi controllers for logic. That means I have everything I could ever need to play stuff in, then I can go in and edit for when I need to add that extra production.
I wonder if you can make a pattern on the top track that puts the sounds together, and midi clip the individual sounds that need pitching
You have those same controls with drum machine designer too. You just need to open up the midi track you want to edit, and in the midi window below there is velocity controls, note repeat, etc.
@@AT-eh2eo he showed that in this video didn’t he? You just right click the top track and tell it to split up the tracks automatically
You’ve got a new fan 🙏🏽
Thanks ! Good video 👍
Bolooo💪🏾💪🏾
cool thx :) some things I didn't know :)
Thank you !!!
I use Logic since C-LAB started with Creator, Notator on an Atari: then to PC till Platinum 5.5.1 and then they sold their souls to apple and i had to switch the paltform to OS mac and i am still here with Logix Pro X. And it is still the greatest crative tool for me. At this time i even dont need additional Plugins or externeal Hardware: just a external Keyboard (NI S88) and a Pad (NI MASCHINE) the Audio Interface KOMPLETE and sone good Monitors. :)
I'm not on DAW drum machines. But after watching this video. They made that program really easy to use.
I've started using Logic Pro again recently, mainly for the VST3 support that Reason still doesn't have. I actually use Reason in Logic for my drums (Kong), but now that I see Logic's drum designer, I'll definitely check it out. Thanks for the video!
But Logic only supports audio units doesn’t it?
@@nicolasstrawberry4148 yes it does. Logic also supports VST3s, of which I have a few...
@@regalmonkmusic Actually it doesn't , do some research, it only supports audio units. Maybe you installed some plugins that installed both audio units and vst's on your system but Logic doesn't support vet;s.
yes. please. more logic content please. thank u.
Really helpful. Thanks
No prob!
Brilliant. Thank you. But maybe add more description of the its on your drum kit page. I'm a newbie. I need things spelled out. This vid however, is informative af. Thanks for that.
Smooooooothe tip my fam...Keep putting out that great content. 1-💜ve -out.
LOGIC GANG!!! I love logic since it first came out!! Still using it now!
THANK FOR THE IDEO IT WAS =PERFECT
Thanks!
Nice bruh!
FL studio has FPC which is nice and Steinberg has Groove Agent 5 which is also a MPC style VST
Whats up man! Thanks for this awesome video! All my life I make beats only standalone MPC. And after your video I want try make in Logic Pro, because a make on my arduino 16 "pads" midi controller. Lets make a fire with DMD! Respect Bro
this is awesome. im so use to the simple way though, but ill experiment with this and see if it helps my workflow. Does Logic have the Channel Rack feature? I came across this video from watching a fruity loops producer using channel rack
Your amazing.. Thank you so much 💜🤴🏾✌🏾😜
No problem 😊
Thanks for showing off how awesome Logic Pro is Bolo!! Shit even GarageBand band is a great DAW if you can put up with it’s workflow. Comparing GB to Logic, you can simulate a lot of shit from Logic in plugins.
Logic Pro is worth the money because you get GREAT STOCK PLUGINS and BUILT IN FEATURES! For anyone who is on GB, mane go get Logic, I been slowly making the transition to Logic from GB. It’s worth it. It has the ULTIMATE workflow.
Thank a lot brother 💯👍🙏
Great vid man! One question. how do i disable the note velocity when tapping the pads. Now when i tap one i have to press really hard to get max volume.
Fire .. Studio one Impact ! Kinda do the same thing , they have a pitch to bend notes.. Question .. are you retiring your MPX.. and doing everything in logic from start to finish now?
Or can you drag your Drum sounds from the MPC into those Logic slot/ pad banks .. and will they sound just good .. from their do song arrangements .. without using song mode on your MPX.. Basically chop and Drum pattern on the Akai unit, drag over to logic drum designer , so perhaps do additional productions , once You’re doing Vocals etc.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 game changer
This can all be reproduced in Studio One as well with Impact instrument. its literally looks like a 16 pad drum machine, drag n drop, fx on individual tracks, etc. save the presets, save the preset with the loaded instrument, etc. Studio one impact can have complete control over each track, simply set the outputs in the instruments. easy.
True, but you cannot play a single pad on it's own track, mono/polyphonically up and down in pitch.
Bruh he didnt get into the A.I ....that drum designer is basically Scaler 2 for drum, bass, perc and fx. You could literally have the vst create your entire arrangement in under a minute. Naaaaah it's too easy for the uninitiated to make something RIDICULOUSLY fire using this. This is one of those secrets that need to remain a secret.
I made sure to watch the whole video. I ain't see anything different/ better than what Ableton does. But good video bro
Yo yes! I love my Maschine to death but Logic Pro alone is so good and the drum machine in its great.
Love you fam
Just switched to logic this week.
Fire.
How do you layer samples in the drum machine designer?
Blessings king 👑
Thanks for this content super usefull, however I wanted to ask your producers community: why when getting a kick or any percussions from splice at the momento of importing it in my DMD on logic the sound changes, like the pitch. Is there something I am doing wrong? xx thanks
Omg!! Logic is soo frekin dope..
Bro I make music on garageband. I’m getting a new laptop. I just introduced to you channel. I need to learn how to use Logic x pro. I want to go to the next step into my producing level career. Do you actually teach? I’m very good at melody’s
I love Logic, I use Battery 4 and sometimes I use Reason "Redrum" for percussion. I have a template mapped in Logic that resembles the Drum Designer. You can map any VST like the Drum Designer!!! My only gripe with Logic is the sample browser sucks. Reason's browser is way more powerful that's why i use it instead! Great Channel!
🔥🔥🔥thanks!
try Waves Cosmos - it was a gamechanger for me for creating kits quickly :)
I think you’re confusing the sample library window on the left as the sample browser. The library on the left is for selecting whole instruments not browsing samples. The sample browser is on the right side of the screen, the button on the far-most top right side of Logic, it’s a file browser, and it works great.
So dope
Not to mention pairing DMD with Step Sequencer! Next level
Bruh!!!! Don’t you know the first rule of Fight Club???!!! 😂😂😂😂 but seriously though, Drum Machine designer is a BEAST!!!! Sometimes I use my Roland V Drums to trigger sounds in it too.
Gotta love Logic. It’s my main DAW. But I still sometimes transport my loops to FL so that I can run it through fruity slicer.
Dope!!!
logic has the same functionality as the fruity slicer :)
I had moved to LiVE but packed my bags 💼 back after that update 🤣🤣✌🏼
🤣🤣🤣💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Hey man i just got into music and i wonder if i should buy sounds or create them
the goat
Thanks for sharing this! Have you tried pattern regions instead of midi in the tracks?
Hell yeah babyyyy! Perfect for house beats on the vintage 909
Thanks 🙏
Cuz wassup I haven't seen you in a minute!!! How is your bro and moms doing!
This is honestly what ultra beat should’ve been. Because the most irritating thing you couldn’t do on logic is basically make the drums stretch on the keyboard. FL was doing this already like 10 plus years ago.
Do you prefer logic’s drum machine designer using pads over the maschine or mpc workflow? If so would you just use a small Akai’s mpd or something like maschine in midi mode? If akai which model? I currently use maschine in Logic Pro but thinking about just using DMD. Only thing is can you still do note repeat using DMD?
Thank you bolo I found a new way
💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾🔥🔥🔥
Do you know if there’s a way to take a sample and let it automatically chop it up like in the quick sampler?
