I have planted ice plant and portulaca and to my dismay the birds in PX AZ eat them, is there any thing I can plant with them to deter their demise from the birds? I was thinking Chile peppers but do not know if the heat from the Chile seeds would deter the birds? Please advise. I have had terrible luck with succulents. Everything dies or is eaten by the birds.

We get this (sedum album) out in the wild here in the UK, found some today. It's not that common but you can find it in the wild
