It’s supposed to be a funny song. We’ve all been where this guy is. I supposed music is always open to the listeners interpretation.
I always took this song to be humorous, because we have all had that thought run through our head. No I have never actually prayed for bad things to happen to anyone. I would never ever really do that.
The other thing I get from this, is the singer that went to church, listens and learns absolutely nothing from the experience. He just shows up and keeps the pew warm. Far too many do that.

As a very devout Christian, I don't see why people don't like this song. I get that it's not right to be bitter, but it's just a joking song. I do not condone using prayer for violence though. I've never wished harm to befall on anyone.
