Twenty years I was a pastor before taking my current hiatus. I feel like this song has put my entire ministry into perspective. Like, all those months and years when you're delivering the Word from the pulpit, and people thank you for the sermon, but nothing ever changes for the better in their lives? This must have been what was running through their heads.

My father was a pastor of a very large and wealthy church (Not bragging I wish they had been humble) His father started a little magazine with a man you may have heard of Billy Graham and that magzine is still strong today, "Christianity Today", yup that is my grandfather, and you guessed it his father was a minister of large church in the Netherlands. I did not get the calling and I have seen how evil people can be and add money and death and all bets are off. My faith wavers daily. Seems more about the man, the money, and the size of the church. How the money completely changed them for the worse. I do look at mega churches a business only. The money is that good. That's why most teach prosperity. That brings in the most. Weeks, months, not years! Jesus said it best. Forgive them Father for they know not what they do! Scary times for many. Those that reject JESUS. Where is there hope. It's so sad. My dad moved us far away from family and i learned just a few years ago what a scapegoat is and it opened my eyes to my father who was sick, abusive physially and mentally blaming me for having to cheat when mom was pregnant with me and how I would pay for all of his sins. (At nine years old I was being told all of this.) The sins of the fathers will be visited upon the sons for two generation. Yes they still spend millions to ensure a way to heaven. Dad made several trips with certain people to Ukraine where they built Churches and Schools which is great. Except dad would arrive by someone's private yacht and they would have a few translators to take them to thank you dinners and more. They never lifted a finger to help build anything, just rewards. Many great pastors but my father is not on that list. Like father, like son, like Hell.
