2000hp 266mph BIG RED 1969 Camaro. The Greatest Pro Touring Car Ever Built?

  • Опубликовано: 4 окт 2024
  • This may very well be one of the most legendary car builds of all time. That's a big claim... but backing it up is 2000 horsepower, a base Veyron-crushing top speed of 266mph, countless race wins over the past few decades, and a rebirth from a fire that could have ended it completely. Hold onto your keyboards, this is a story for the times.

      I have the mag with it on the cover! And this car is the one I blame for my love affair with first gen Camaros. I restored a 67, 68 and 69 and unfortunately sold them all. Coming up on my 69th bday and I’m buying one last 69 Camaro to celebrate and unlike the others it’s already pretty well complete, just needs one additional gauge and a roll cage with seats and harnesses and possible a nos setup to low 9’s and some road racing. Yahoo!!!!

    • @jacknickerson6985
      @jacknickerson6985 5 лет назад +48

      I do all the electrical systems on Big Red! The sheer number of different combinations we run was quiet a challenge. On the road race set up we run a Holley Dominator EFI with an MSD Grid ignition and Racepak for data logging the stuff we don't get on the Holley box ( EGT'S and O2's for each cylinder). When we land speed race and don't have to fit in to the classic class we run the Holley Dominator EFI with Holley coil near plug set up and still use the Racepak for data. In the set up you see in the video the motor is all mechanical but we still use the Holley Dominator and Racepak for data logging.

      Dude it's not a "60's muscle car." It's a lot more like a MUCH higher horsepower stock car or trans am car with a '69 Camaro body on top. Yes there are many more challenges getting that shape to go that fast as opposed to say an 80's or 90's F-body. Still an AMAZING car and so cool to see it still running strong after all these years.

    Really fantastic review of a, to the extreme, highly modded Z28. I owned a used one back in 1970 that was stone stock. My younger inebriated brother bought it new and shortly thereafter snapped a phone pole off with it. It never did track straight after that.
    My brother bought it without a chin spoiler but purchased it after discovering that it began morphing into a plane at 130 mph. May be why it clipped that pole off.
    It's a real testament to what these fellows have done to keep the Z on terraferma at 266 MPH. AMAZING!!!!!
