You could get this in early 2000s. Pokemon Colosseum was close to this and lets not forget that Mario sunshine was made in 2002. These are Gamecube graphics.
Nah Pokemon is just ass at making console games. Like they still don’t know how to make them and refuse to get more than the tiniest amount of help from other studios. Like Monolith Soft could do so much for them as they not only make Xenoblade work on the switch, they did work on the Botw and Totk Zelda games. They apparently did help, but I guess Gamefreak didn’t let them do much.
Pokemon colosseum looked better in 2003. It truly shows how Game Freak needs new blood that knows how to make modern games, when they lose to 20 years old game. Also couple years of reorganizing pipeline is needed. This most likely never happens as cash keeps flowing. Pokemon keeps being the most sold game on consoles.
Apart from the absolutely horrible graphics and performance, the actual "game" part of the game is really very good, and a huge step in the right direction for Pokémon.
@@Zanpaa How this game "step forward" from older games in the franchise. The open world has already existed in the game industry for decades but this game is still shit. I didn't feel like explorer just a kid walk in my backyard with my pet. Paldea is the most boring region in this franchise. Lack of over world puzzle, maze, dungeon, cave, underwater, jungle.
@@Zanpaa You are right. This is the best-selling Pokemon games of the entire franchise. It has one terrible flaw (performance) but otherwise takes the Pokemon franchise into a much better direction. It's definitely this game specifically. Plenty of Switch games look and perform better (just look at the Zelda open world games). Somehow Game Freak can't program a game engine for shit, despite having essentially unlimited money to throw at it.
Why do people always go on about the god damn windmill - it's literally acting the exact way it is programmed to. The game is specifically coded to do that
@imyergranpa It's not the game not performing, in fact the very reason it does this is to ensure that the game runs smoothly - if you aren't near an animation, it isn't important enough to waste power on. At launch this was very much needed because the game stressed the Switch to it's limit, after the second DLC update though, the game is much more performant and works seamlessly in pretty much every zone that it would previously struggle on, the best test you can is the ogre hunting game, compare how it runs now to gameplay from when it released. So technically in the current version of the game - this windmill trick probably isn't necessary, just nobody considered it important enough to care about - which as a developer myself I fully understand, because it really doesn't matter of the windmill is in performance mode when the player is far away
@@RancorSnp I know why that is. It still is funny as all heck that the hardware is so old now that it needs to dip into frankly ugly territory to keep acceptable performance. Let's not kid ourselves, if they could fix it they would, the game likely still needs that processing leeway.
Levels of detail according to Nintendo:
-Yes
-No
Detail only within 5 meters
Which is crazy, because BOTW handled LOD so much better.
@@Jack_L pokemon games is sadly a minimum viable product, ive seen a fan game "pokemon red" do battles much better
Nintendo, unfortunately, doesn't develop the games themselves. They publish them. This is all on Game Freak for being incredibly lazy.

windmill made me chuckle draw distance of 87CM for flowers made me loose it :D
There's not even LoD for them like you would see normally
There's just draw distance

There are games that play and run very well on the switch like xenoblade 2 for example this game is just ass
