    For more ideas, look at colour blocking in clothes patterns. These will give some ideas of how to combine different fabrics.

    Another option is to integrate a knitting pattern as part of the design. Seed stitches and the linen stitch would work well with the same yarns.

    Your ribbon join is just perfect. Would love to see how you attached it so neatly ❤

      I pinned the ribbon to one edge and stitched it, then pinned it to the 2nd edge, and stitched it. The pieces butted together, not overlapping. There are some still photos showing the process, and one of the wrong side with my uneven edges!

      @@getweaving8459 thanks a lot for sharing your process and expertise! It looks wonderful. I thought it was turned over/under. I’ll give it a go at some point. Thanks again! Busy at the moment with my new addition: an 8 shaft loom! Hugs from Provence, Adrien

    Excellent video. I was gifted some short lengths of handwoven fabric. Despaired of how to use them other than a pillow cover. Great ideas.

    I love that you made so many of your fabrics with the rigid heddle loom. Do you have a listing of patterns by width of loom or woven fabric needed? It looks like I can use my 12" loom for most of your patterns as long as I can get 9" of finished width? I have purchased several of your patterns and now that I've seen your videos I can get up the courage to try cutting my fabric. Thanks Sarah for sharing.

      @getweaving8459  Год назад +2

      I don't have lists like the ones you mention, good idea though! Every pattern- as you know- has the required fabric on the back page, but lately I've just been sewing widths together to get the width I need. The joins can be hidden, or a feature. I think this is the fun bit! And it's not a new idea- lots of ancient- and current- civilisations have worked this way for centuries, very successfully. I think this is where we can be at our most creative. Happy weaving! 😊

    I have a twining rug loom and I was wondering if I can make a nice thick cardigan with it instead of a rug. I am a beginner

    • @getweaving8459
      @getweaving8459  Год назад

      I've looked at a picture of one of these, it looks like a large frame. Does it have string heddles? A photo of yours would help. I think you would need a closer sett warp than you normally use as you would want a softer fabric, a balanced weave (same number of ends and picks per inch). You would also need to make several pieces as one piece wouldn't be large enough. Does that make sense?

    Have you ever thought about weaving in the round so you only have the neckline to trim? Thank you for your videos. They are very inspiring! I am a novice but i would love to make my clothes from A to Z.

      That's not something I'm likely to do, I prefer weaving a strip and cutting it like a commercial pattern. I'm not quite sure how fitting the garment would work.

    What yarn did you use to the weav you wear?

    • @getweaving8459
      @getweaving8459  Год назад

      I used chunky cotton yarns for the warp, sett 5dpi. The weft is cotton ribbon in 2 shades, in bold blocks. I'm afraid I can't give you brand names as they were all from the stash, no labels. I hope that helps, Sarah
