Oh, silly James. Yeah same problem. It helps if it is all one motion. That way the string doesn't have time to gain length.

Hi james. My hands aren't bigger than normal. it's preference but you might want to try using more than just your left index finger during that part like I do in the video. It may just be preference though. Hope either just left index or multiple fingers works for you.

Doing it step by step or slow doesn't appear to have any difference on the size of the shape of the gap between the strings. most likely it'll help to consciously keep it spread while learning the trick. 👍
