    Honestly, this is THE most informative explanation and resolution method on how to do this, out of all the clips on YT. You explained it initially right away on the bench, the relation of the pin to the arrow tip compared to the knocking point. No need to over complicate it and make it some secret sauce, but also no need to be like some of these pros putting videos out JUST to meet the algorithm for their channel and be SO vague about what is happening and why, but just saying to do it or take it to the shop and have it done, lol at best.
    Great work.

    7:59 the further out the sight is, the more noticeable it's movement is from within the peep sight.

    I get why we torque tune, but if you start down that road of adjusting the sight won’t it mess up your normal shot?

    Good info, helps explain some of the things I've experienced with a dovetail sight. Adds to my bucket of info to keep adding to the skill set.

    Never thought about purposely torquing the bow to measure the distance and then being able to affect that. I don’t run a dove tail but I do have 3 different placements a little more time consuming and not as many options but can still make this work. Definitely going to get a sight with a dove tail. Pushing towards that next level to be more lethal.

    You can move your rest further back also and it does the same thing.

    Can’t wait to practice torque shots tonight. Great tips on bow set ups. Question how often do you wax your bow string.

    • @GrittyGearAndPodcast
      @GrittyGearAndPodcast  Год назад +1

      Brad here. I wax it often. Letting is dry out can ruin a string real quick. I use scorpion venom bowstring fluid to moisten the string and then I use bow wax to keep the moisture in. It seems to make the string last much longer.

    I've heard torque tuning is done with the rest rather than the sight. Learned something today

    this just changes the visible proof of torque not the impact on the arrow like moving the rest dose not the same thing.

    • @hacgyver1738
      @hacgyver1738 7 месяцев назад

      I agree. Moving the sight in and out changes nothing about the way the arrow comes off of the bow. Moving the arrow rest changes the pivot point of the arrow, which will change the way the arrow leaves the bow.

  • @hacgyver1738

    Come on Cody, think about it. The reason you can't explain how moving the sight closer or farther from the bow works for this is because it doesn't work. If a bow/arrow combo is tuned properly and you put that bow on a shooting machine, the arrows will, within reason, always leave the bow the same way and hit the same spot on the target. If you don't change the setup of the bow on the machine, then moving the sight pin up, down, left, right, forward OR backwards will change nothing about the way the arrow leaves the bow or the flight of the arrow. Torquing the bow will obviously change things, but it's obvious that changing the distance the sight is from the bow changes NOTHING about how the arrow leaves the bow. Changing the distance from the arrow rest to the string changes the pivot point of the arrow, which will change the trajectory of the arrow when it leaves the bow.

      Thanks. Interesting critique. All I know is that the bow is much more forgiving when it's in a torqued position when the sight is configured correctly--there's always a sweet spot--I don't know the "why" though.

    • @hacgyver1738
      @hacgyver1738 7 месяцев назад

      Yea, I should've adhered to the old "You don't know what you don't know" saying. Another youtuber explained it and it made sense. Even though these modern bows are made very well, it's a very dynamic machine that goes through a lot of stresses. Even moving something as light as a sight in or out from the riser can change the dynamics. So, in the immortal words of Rosanne Rosannadanna, never mind. 😇@@GrittyGearAndPodcast
