- ~Hi my name is Cole and I am a sophomore at UCSB double majoring in
Film + Media and Statistics + Data Science.
My quarter just started and I think this is going to be a busy year. Follow along with me though my second year at UCSB as I burnout because of my horrendous schedule that I am already enjoying so much ;).

Is the place you life in part of Campus housing, or do you know if International Students life with the regular students?
No my place is not campus housing, international students usually live in campus housing and can be placed with other internationals or just UCSB students. It is kind of random.
@@Cole_Mak Ok, thanks for the information. Its important for me to have an "authentic" College experience, because studying in the USA is totally different to germany. That has also been one of the reasons i prefer this school over Berkeley and UCLA, because the international students seem to be a little bit seperated. Is it better to come in Fall or Spring from a lifestyle standpoint and when are the best parties?
Edit: I turn 21 in September 25, i totally forgot that this might cause problems in America, so in think fall is the better options, in case anyone controlls the age at the parties
I think both are good options, fall is the beginning of the year so other people may be looking for a lot of friends and clubs have their initial events then, but also idk how the semester to quarter system works. So by spring I’m assuming it starts around January and ends June, you’ll be asked to experience deltopia which is fun. Also age doesn’t rly matter beside unless you are going to bars in downtown which a lot of ppl do. You can do that year round

Hello, thank you for this video.
I have a few questions and I hope you can answer them. 1-Can you tell me more about the location of the college ( is it close to shops for example) and whether it’s hard to get internships or not.
2- how is the pre dental program there, do students get internships?
These are by very important factors to me and I can’t quite find clear answers regarding UCSB uni.
The location is very nice if you like the beach but there isn't rly like shop shops here except for downtown Santa Barbara which u can get to by bus if u don't have a car. There is also Isla Vista where it's basically a little college community with a bunch of food albeit kind of mid imo but does the job. I personally don't have any pre dental friends and haven't heard much about it but I know we have all of the courses that most dental schools ask for and the classes are generally pretty good. As for internships that's not something the school provides that's for you to put yourself out there and achieve that. That's kind of how internships work at every school whether they r prestigious or not. Internships depend on how bad you want it. Hope this helps

😅if ima be honest it's not the most fun part of my college experience right now but I feel like it definitely can be, just hasn't totally been for me. I recommend joining clubs n stuff🫡

is the housing crisis as bad as people say it is? i’m trying to decide between davis and sb but the housing scares me.
Mmmm yeah it's pretty bad but I'd say housing is a crisis at every uc, is say it definetly is very stressful here but if your start early it shouldn't be a problem

Yeah id say it's pretty good but there is more focus on the statistics part which is useful but u probably need to learn to code on your own

I met them all my freshman year in the dorms, I was fortunate enough to find my group pretty quickly and find a place together early 👍

Is the film major really that boring
Personally I think it's a good major if you like film theory but as for more hands on, maybe UCSB is not as suited for it. With that being said UCSB still has many orgs where u can meet ppl and make films with.
