This video immediately aged like milk with the Switch 2 trailer clearly showing a new Mario Kart 🥴 but still let me know what you think? I think a solid successor to F1 Race Stars could easily rival Mario Kart
Amazing Video! You bring up many good points but to add I feel like this wouldn't be only good for families and kids but also just groups of friends that want to have a laugh and have fun, because I find playing f1 24 feels so serious and I feel that game could be a fun relaxed way to enjoy f1
Yeah very valid point! F1 24 is definitely harder to enjoy as a social game. Last time me and my mates played the F1 games together was around F1 2021 but I feel like we’d be far more inclined to, especially during in person meet ups, nowadays if we had something like Race Stars to play that would just be a great way to enjoy F1 without having to play something super serious. It would definitely be easier to get casual or less interested friends involved as well.
Good video, deserves more views. I owned Race Stars and have been a life long F1 fan, and I didn't love it. I was in my uni days and we played A LOT of Mario Kart on the Wii, but when I tried this game it was missing something. It was fun, but didnt compelle you to carry on. Saying that, I would love to see a RS2 and completely agree with the commercial opportunity you explain so well.
I think compared to Mario Kart it does lack but for a first attempt I think it was a strong building block. They would really have to do something special to beat Mario Kart but with the resources F1 and EA have I think they could do it and it would be a fantastic way to get kids and families into F1 and provide something more casual for F1 fans to play together other than the official game. Also thank you for the nice comments on the video 😊
EA do too little with the franchise, I don't know if it's because of laziness or if FOM is too strict with the guidelines. Besides the kart race, they could profit with F1 past and future and are leaving money on the table. The last "all the bell and whistles from a new game, but with a old category in mind" racing game I can remember is the Indy 500 games release for the Wii, with the last one release in 2010. They could use the F1 branding to make a futuristic racing game. The last big studio anti-gravity racer (like F-Zero) was Wipeout Omega Collection launched in 2017 and F1 that loves to be sold as the "pinnacle of motorsports" would be a good match for it. Even if ditching wheels is too far fetched for F1, there is a Japanese franchise with anime and racing games called "Future GPX Cyber Formula", that uses the same concept of the two modes of aerodynamics that F1 will adopt in 2026 in favor of the DRS (X and Z mode) and work very well. Instead they release only a "current year game" and they even ditched the management game.
They absolutely do too little with the franchise but they also do too little with every sports franchise they have unfortunately. I do think a lot of it comes down to them releasing a “new” game each year though and then trying to treat them like live service games. There is so much potential they could tap into but they just decide to not but people keep buying the games every year so I guess until they stop doing that they won’t feel the need to do anything different.
Insanely high quality video. How does this still only have 7 views? Everything was on point, and I liked the presentation style a lot.
Thanks so much! 7 views is probably because I decided to post the video the same day the Switch 2 got announced but hopefully it’ll pick up 😂🤞
