G'day from Australia. Even though I have a Dutch family name, my understanding of Dutch is very limited. Please,it will be greatly appreciated if you or someone could tell me in English why it took a long time to put water on this fire? Is it because of a dangerous or safety problem, location and limited water supply or that the restaurant is beyond saving? Nice video👍however, l couldn't clearly understand what was happening.
Pretty much all you said. In the radiotraffic there is a warning for 20+ gascilinders going into the air. The ladder arrives just after the 1st engine. Looks like they had to back up to find a hydrant. The 2nd and 3rd engine also having trouble to find a watersource. The ladder has to wait for water from the 3rd engine. And the building was indeed beyond saving.
@@Wouter112 It wasn't that hard to find a watersource; the restaurant was at a dike next to the local marina. But because of the location, there are very limited hydrants. So they had to make a line towards the marina. The building was large and complete out of wood. When the fire-engines arrived there was no way to save the restaurant. The message there were 20+ gas cylinders in the back of the building didn't make the firemen very likely to go in either (as you said). By daylight it became clear that the restaurant completely burned down together with a nearby home (which was of the owners of the restaurant). Luckily, they all were saved in time.
