i have to do a stop motion animation with paper for my classes, and your explanation about the wire will help out a lot! definitely need to remake the paper puppet but i'm now more confident about it :)
Hey, do you make a different head for the different facial expressions of the pianist, or do you just carefully paste on a pre-drawn face "mask" that covers up the pre-drawn original expression?
If you look carefully, you'll see that the face has no eyes, mouth nor eyebrows and the very small shadow the cutouts cast, especially the eyebrows of the pianist if you pause at 12:02. She carefully replaces each piece.
Thank you so much for sharing this Faye. I am new to stop motion, even I can't help to fall in love with it, my drawing skills are terrible. But, I will continue! You are so awesome in drawings and delivering stories. You should never stop. You are great!!
Thanks for sharing your process. I'm inspired by your art style. I like the way the characters are drawn and colored. I never would have thought to mix the colors the way that you did for the bear and the pianist. It looks very cool. How do you set up your camera to do the actual stop motion animation?
Thank you!!!! I’m a student so we have access to a really professional set up with a dslr camera on an overhead rig that connects directly to the computer. I’ve done it on the cheap before though, and all you really need is a tall tripod.
Amazing video,... How to make such a paper puppet blink and lip sync??? How to add blinking eyes and mouth set on this paper puppet??? Actually i want to make such paper puppets for my story,... I want to move hands, legs , head and even want my puppets to talk and change face expressions... Please tell me..how to do it .. Please please reply..
I recently had a stop motion class and I felt in love with this paper cut animation. THANK YOU SO MUCH for your video. I love your style, your characters, your voice and the process. Please keep up your amazing work! I’d love to see more of these ☺️
Soooo many layers!! The bear has close to 20 really lightly colored layers all on top of each other, then at the end I blend them all with a cream or pink color. That way I can slowly blend in the shadow👌👌
Hi, how are you getting the prisamacolors so smooth? The coloring goes from looking like it’s done with colored pencil to looking very smooth, like you skipped a step. Did you use watercolor pencils??
Nope it’s all prismacolors! My trick is to layer TONS of super thin layers over each other- it takes time but the end result is really smooth (running a white or tan pencil over the final result can also help!)
Omg!! Thank you so much!!! This is my midterm project. It's really help me out. I also really liked your video editing and drawing style. Sorry for my English. Love you. 💜
Depends on the film! Some people design puppets with different sizes for different shots and other people build puppets with removable parts like heads and hands so they just have to use one
Sorry I can’t remember the exact gauge, but it was sold for jewelry making- so it was thin, but could hold its shape and wouldn’t snap when bent a few times👍
This video saved my animation process. Thank you so much. I looked everywhere how to make moving limbs but this is the perfect method, although it takes me much longer. But again, I am now to all this. What lighting did you use? What frame rate? So many questions...
I’m not sure what gauge I used! But it was just the smallest available at the craft store. There shouldn’t be any difficulty bending it, but it should be able to hold its shape
I’m not sure actually! It was just some wire I had around but it should be thin enough to twist easily in your fingers but not break after a few good twists
I loooove your art style so much. It reminds me of the older cartoon network shows, so nostalgic :)

I have exactly the same question

Hi there! The facial expression pieces were separate from the puppet’s face for convenience👍👍
Really appreciate you taking the time to do this. Getting so many ideas from this, thanks!
OMG when I saw the way to make joints. I was amazed. It is so cooooool.*mind blows up*
Awesome! Loved seeing your process and how you made you your puppets. Thank you for sharing!

This is so so great…. Thanks so much
Awwww you're welcome! Glad it was useful :)
This is so cute. I literally love everything about it
We will be making stop motion at school so thanks for posting this. Love the wire method.---- Pollyzoom.
So cool!!! Hope the animations turned out well💕
thank you for taking the time to make this video (on top of all of your hardcore risd assignments) !! 💛
my pleasure♥️♥️ and thank you for the thanks😂😂
Love this! What is your opinion on using blu tack/poster tack for joints instead of wire?
Ooooh interesting idea! I’d be worried for some joints that they might slide around too much, but it’s definitely worth experimenting with!
A tiny witch hat is ALWAYS necessary
My god train movement so original👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏👏👏
I am about to do my college assignment and this video is super helpful! Thank Youuu
Amazing!! Glad I could help🥳
THIS WAS SO USEFUL! THANK YOU:)
Glad to hear it!💕

Hello, great vídeo, i have question for You, how papper use for the make the puppet.?
Thank u! I use a thicker card paper so that the puppet is more rigid and easy to pose👍
@@fayemaybe thanks!!! I love yours ilustration and all you work, it's beatifull!!!

good suggestion with the joint wire
Exactly what I needed. Very well explained. You got a new sub for this great content :)
Thanks!!! Glad it helped 🥰
How do you make the color so smooth? Do you use water on it?
I use a light tan pencil on top of all the lighter colors layers to do the final blend. Hope that helps!
This is awesome!!!! Thank you 🙏
How do you make the color pencil shading look so smooth?
Soooo many layers!! The bear has close to 20 really lightly colored layers all on top of each other, then at the end I blend them all with a cream or pink color. That way I can slowly blend in the shadow👌👌
@@fayemaybe Wow that's awesome! Your puppets turned out really great!
At how many frames per second did you make it?
24!

Oh wow! I am inspired!!!!
Yayyyyy!! I’m glad💕
What gauge of wire did you use?
What size wire did you use?
Do you cut out only one puppet for the whole animation or do you do multiple so that the puppet can be viewed in different angles?
Depends on the film! Some people design puppets with different sizes for different shots and other people build puppets with removable parts like heads and hands so they just have to use one
Hi how did you do the lip sync. Any tips
Thanks a LOT for this video! Bless you.
Wowww 👏👏👏
Great job! Keep going
hi nice work
Thanks!🥳🥳
Yeees, more behind the scenes videos.
I’ve got some behind the scenes videos coming up soon🤩🤩
@@fayemaybe I cant wait!
What type of paper using for making this?
Bristol paper so it would hold its shape better!
What kind of wire do you use and what is the gauge of the wire
Sorry I can’t remember the exact gauge, but it was sold for jewelry making- so it was thin, but could hold its shape and wouldn’t snap when bent a few times👍
one question, how do you animate your puppet's eyes?
Tiny paper circle cut outs for the eyes! I switched out the shape to make it blink
What type of paper us this? 😊
Card stock so it has a little structure!
I wanna try out something like this with my fursona
thanks for tips using wire for puppet
This is amazing! How long did it take you to finish?
Thank you!!!! It was about a full week to make all the puppets and sets and I filmed it over 4 days😩😩

Hah awww thank u💕
what kind of paper did u use? I'm making an animation project myself xD would really appreciate it if u answer haha
I used Bristol so it’d have some structure
@@fayemaybe Thank you so much, I finished mine, u wanna see?
