Thomas just wanted to say thank you for inspiring me to pick CW back up. Since your last video I've learned to send and hear my call sign. I was studying to be an extra but I think staying a General and learning CW is more rewarding. Thanks again
I’m sure luck has been at play for me, but it has been an extremely productive summer for SOTA/POTA in spite of the poor condx I hear about. Even a taste of 10m DX. It has me so excited for the fall.
Camped at the mt pisgah campground for 3 days during my 8 days along the blue ridge parkway and smoky mountains during my 3 month cross country pota road trip. Activated the many parks in the area. Beautiful scenery. Used a KH1, KX2 and an FT891 for digital. John, NS6X
I have activated from that same picnic area multiple times, in fact I use the table directly across the gravel drive. The wife can spend hours walking around looking for wildlife and native plants also, plus the back side offers some peaceful seclusion .
I had no idea you were calling me, but looking at my log conditions weren't great that evening. I started calling on 15m and had no takers at all at 100W, which was unbelievable. 17m was very poor. I moved down to 20m and there I often drop to 5W, but that time I stayed at full power there too. I've been out a couple of times lately and seen you spotted but not heard you, I am sure we will get another P2P or two now we are coming out of the "summer doldrums". 73!
It would be brilliant working you again someday, Stuart. I wasn't exactly pushing a lot of power that day and conditions were wonky. Someday, the stars will align!
59:22 Dunno which I like least super-speed or nospacebetweenletters. Slowed down I think I got the right call, though what I came up with is someone not found on the pota site. Could be a random person I suppose. I have gotten those before while activating.
Sounded like it. Sometimes, too, some of the really fast ops only know the most standard exchanges. When you send something unexpected, they can interpret it and move on.
Hi Tom! I see you are still playing with those broken radio's. If only you could come up with some way that would allow that beeping to mean something :) Be well my friend. Erin says "hi". De NI2O

I love that campground. It's so nice to be able to walk to a store with provisions and also walk to the trailhead of Mt Pisgah so easily.
Thanks Thomas for all the great videos you do and thanks to Hazel too, DE Tom WW8D in Salem VA
And thank you for the kind comment! :)
Thomas makes alliteration fun again. 😀
😂
"Auguest" is my favourite month :)
So nice of you to mention Heather (after Hazel the dog!😏) a true ham. Enjoy the beautiful area. Lucky you!

Awesome! It's a wonderful spot for sure!
The KH1's side tone sounds so much better than it used to... Doesn't sound as square as it used to be.
Yes, many months ago a firmware update really sorted out the sidetone.

Thomas thanks for this. When you called QRS. Did that person just float off.
