Absolutely gorgeous bike rebuild and repaint! Your paint jobs are constantly improving and getting ever more complex and beautiful. The use of the gold lettering on the deep metallic green was lovely, and using those red accents on the rest of the bike build to make the frame pop even more was an excellent design choice. Amazing work, I love watching these videos.

Hold up... did this guy seriously just slap a deruiller hanger on top of the frame and tighten it all as one in the quick release? That defeats the purpose of having a deruiller hanger...
Lmao i saw it too...some old derailleurs has an inbuilt attachment for lock nut style bikes.
Maybe he doesnt have one so he insisted just to hamfist it around
They make a derailleur hanger attachment specifically for that type of dropuots
@@sosieg yeah I see those a lot in cheaper and older bikes. I have noticed though that schwinn likes to use the actual hanger style.

Since he was quite happy to weld the head tube to allow mounting of newer style forks, why not also weld something up to allow the rear mech to hang properly rather than do a Frankenstein job on it?

All screws seem to be real easy to unlock 🤔. I do not understand why. They should be hard as hell on a bike in tis conditon.
Screws aren’t exposed to the weather.

Thought he's going to restore bike? Looks like he restored the frame and threw the rest out.
Thats the whole meaning of this process.. the parts installed has no longer meaning of use but recyclable metal. Im an avid bike mechanic too but the rust that invaded the parts and weathering did its job perfectly to kill and weaken the parts
All he can do is salvage the frame and shocks
About the shocks tho. Im surprised he has the skill to restore it, not like a hamfisted wanker like i usually do.
And yup. He has to change it since most of the parts too are mandated. Like the dual crown forks up front which resembles of an old cruiser type forks. Too old to keep.
I would hang it as a memorabilia in my garage tho

But yeah. That resto to its original form is really impossible. The only thing we can do with that rolling piece of metal is revive it with new factory fresh parts.

Your telling me they put expensive parts on a cheap frame???!!!! The only cheap thing is the frame and rear suspension like wtf well the most of the stuff is price range it’s not super expensive
Not that I know about bike parts particularly well, but the old fork appears to be for downhill use, indicating this was a downhill bike. Still, not a half-bad restomod. Hell, the hollow center crankset is something my modern bike doesn't have!

So how did you go from a threaded fork to a threadless fork? That's the second video like this. Anyone see that or know how?
Threaded to threadless. New stem with pinch bolts and a new modern fork of which you install a star nut inside the steer tube. Use of spacers to adjust stem height/bar height and good to go.
Watch diameter of existing race cups on top and bottom of head tube as need to match diameter of steer tube on new fork. You will also need the existing crown race.
@@greghunter275 I did saw that he welded some adapters to the headtube of the frame to fit the bearings for the modern suspension fork. I wanna know the size of the pipe he used for the adapter though...
