The problem is EA has a strangle hold on the NHL brand. There's no competition so all you will get is minimal effort and copy/paste from recent installments every...single...year. I'd like to see a back to back video from recent years showing how animations are copied, movements are copied, scripts, modes and everything is just carried over with very little offered for something new. It would be nice to see 2K roar back and give EA something to think about with an actual second option for fans to choose what game/company they prefer.

I love this game, my only criticism is that there are too many interaction conversations, it gets tedious to have a conference with the coach 2-3 times a game, and another one when you are walking back in the locker room. I do like the feature, but I just think its too much of it. Another thing I would like to see in the career mode is having an option of progressing leagues, starting out in ECHL, earning your way up to AHL and then NHL (like MLB the show does with AA, AAA, MLB). For the people who don't want to go through the minor leagues, they could have an option of skipping to NHL draft. But, all in all, I think its a great game, I love it, and I look forward to evening so I can play more.

Playing on ps5 gameplay has improved to me. Passing is difficult at times. As it should be. I have lowered cpu passing accuracy as I did find 94% accuracy too high. I play on full sim and finally I feel there's a battle for the puck. Neutral zone battles and much improved board play. I haven't played since 2002. For NHL 22, I'm really enjoying the difficulty (pro mode, I think) and I like that passing into congested areas typically lead to interceptions (as they would IRL). However, I can't stand the precision required to make passes to open players. Maybe there's a pass assist option I haven't discovered, but it really sucks trying to play keep away between your open D men in the offensive zone only to have it passed to someone I wasn't even aiming for that leads to a turnover. Be a Pro mode is fun but the interviews are an unenjoyable and time consuming waste of time. Ones is fun but lacks depth. Having the Women's National teams is awesome. All that said, I'm enjoying it.

Got 8 hrs left on my ea but probably gonna buy it and not wait for it to go on sale !
6:16 ... I agree immensely with this sentiment. I have not played the NHL series in awhile (was holding out for another PC release), but the lack of a tutorial/training mode to understand the controls would have been welcomed greatly. I know there is a tiny prompt above the player's head, but it would be nice if there was a mimic-action/Fighting Game style tutorial to show you moves and features better. Additionally, playing this on PlayStation 5, I would think some other the basic features could have be incorporated (BGMusic track-skip, jump-in/out gameplay with friends, HUT card training mode offline, player highlight of the week, etc). The review mentioned the limitations of yearly additions & adjustments to games like this, but it feels like necessary options to make for even a bare-bones Sports game.
