Hobby sewer here! Linen is only scratchy and wrinkles easily if the fabric is of not so great quality. Good quality linen feels buttery soft and doesn't wrinkle as easily. It's much better than cotton because it can take up a lot more moisture and it doesn't take on smells as quickly. However you have to care for linen differently. Soak it in water before you wash it, don't machine dry, iron with a lot of steam when the fabric is still wet. It will last you a lifetime!

Can you kindly recommend a brand that sells quality linen, that's not quite as expensive as Brunello Cucinelli? Thank you for your comment.

You are so right! With linen - as with silk and cashmere - you get what you pay for. I speak as a 70-year-old 😅. My best white jeans are of Japanese linen. My best linen shirts from WNU (British brand)

I'm glad you brought up the issue of office a/c. It's maddening to need a winter wardrobe at work and a summer wardrobe for the commute / lunch time errands/walk etc. My office is so cold that if I want to wear a skirt or dress I have to wear tights and/or socks. But that's too warm to wear on the skytrain or out for a walk at lunch. Ditto the whole work-sweater/shawl/cardigan layering pieces, but at least they are easier to throw off when you need to leave the "meat locker."

I live in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil 🇧🇷 so, for me it’s very usual to put a look together layering fresh fabrics even in “winter” time here . I like summer though , relaxed outfits , white, flats … we naturally glow. Brazilian people have a particular kind of layed back style. I love todays looks ❤ Havaianas since birth here lol

Great video! I thrift shop weekly year round. I'm always looking for pieces that are cotton poplin or gauze, silk, lyocell and linen blends for this difficult hot season. I buy either prints or midtone to dark colors because they show the sweat less. Still I find that summer clothes don't last as long because of the sweat stains.

Ok, I 100% share your opinion of summer!😓 I looooove fall and winter--the layers! The cozy sweaters! The boots! The result of this opinion plus my innate stubborness is that summers always catch me with few options outside of cutoff denim shorts and tanks because I never want to spend my money on clothing I do not care for, for a season I do not like to dress for. It has created a vicious cycle. Thanks to you and to Caroline Joy's Unfancy blog, I have finally started slowly adding in lightweight summer pieces that I am as happy to wear as I can be, considering it is July rather than November. 🤷‍♀️ I don't think it can be overstated how much it helps to know my style, as that has kept me from desperately buying anything that is marketed to me because "summer!" (a mistake I made on repeat for YEARS). Now I really think about what a hot-weather version of the fall/winter clothes I love can look like--as another viewer suggested, linen pants rather than jeans; a soft lightweight tee instead of a crewneck sweater; clogs instead of boots. Thank you for sharing your wisdom, your honesty, and your relatability. You are making people's lives better! Rock on!

I also use the tips about fabric, fit, colour, and proportions when “advising” my husband 😂 he’s a pretty good dresser but now is much more open to trying different fabrics in shirts, linen being the main one and cotton gauze seersucker too. He’s amazed how much cooler he feels. I still can’t get him out of his jeans in the summer 😂 but he’s now open to trying a linen or linen blend casual pant 😂
