We are a small business, My wife and I have started teaming up on yards I do all the trimming she starts mowing, then I jump on a mower to help finish up. We went from 8-10 yards a day to 16-18 without needing to hire someone. 😁 We are going to start making videos on everything we do other than mowing.
The Grandstand is almost identical to my Exmark Vantages. Love em. Great mowers. As far as that string goes, I bought a spool of that same blue line in .105 for doing thicker stuff and you are spot on, that stuff is great. I run .95 on a daily basis so I'll be getting some of it in the .95
+CountrysideLawnNY Nice! I don't think I can use any other line now, lol. The new 2016 Grandstand is a lot different now... Much better! The engine isn't on the deck anymore, for one thing, like Exmark...
I have used the Oregon gator line for the last 2 years...it's all I use now! I like the thin piece of metal inside of the line...I believe it lasts longer and cuts better!
Wow, I can see how wet it is there. You can send some of that rain down here. We're very dry right now. I like the Grandstand but it's not for me. I hope you had a chance to mow that larger property with it. Yes, the larger ones are almost therapeutic. If you get a bunch of them, then you can justify a big big mower and you can still get them done in 15 minutes. But you seem to be full already anyway. Great video and keep up the good work.
i went from a toro proline (32") to a 52 inch 2015 grandstand. It's taking me a long time to get used to it. You couldn't scalp if you tried with the 32" proline but with my grandstand there is no anti scalp wheels and i have to rethink how i cut everything. The upgrades to the 2016 do seem like a big improvement though.
Good vid. Life of a lawn guy like myself. $80 is a deal for over 1/2 acre. You able to mow every other week or do you have to mow weekly? I'd have charged $125/month cut weekly and $95 cut every other week. Prices per month year around here in FL. If you are up North and don't have to cut for 5 months out of the year, $80/month is perfect (but they pay year round). Don't sell yourself short kid.
I was using Husqvarna Titanium Force and it is a really strong line that lasts pretty good. Rhino tuff Heavy duty twist is what I am trying right now and it is doing pretty good, I dont think it is lasting as long as the Titanium but the trimmer can seem to spin faster with it.
I'm gonna have to try that silicone. My mom told me to use non stick cooking spray. I bet it's probably the same kind of stuff. Great video man. I really enjoyed it.
+Ernesto Yes. If they have any. It's pretty awesome and very helpful. Much better then just riding around a parking lot. Every dealer has their own rules though... just build a rapport with one! Best wishes!
Great little review on the Oragon Gatortwist, I wanna get a spool so I can compare side by side on my Echo's. Thanks for the tip, have you demoed the 30" TORO grandstand, I was wondering about how it stands up against the John Deere or the Wright stander.
I use GatorLine Magnum and it's good too. May try out the Platinum sometime. Hey...mind telling me what your dealer charges for that Toro Grandstand? Thanks!
Great video man! I got to ask, what headphones are you using? I feel like I'm always looking for the next best thing when it comes to headphones. I want something that sounds good but I don't have to turn the music way up to hear it. I want them to save my hearing not hurt it.
+Fall River Lawn Care I was the same way! I tried so many things, manly cheap. Unfortunately, you gotta spend some money to have the good stuff. I found these Skull Candy wireless headphones on amazon and Best Buy for around $100. Cheaper than beats, Sony, Bose, and everything else super expensive. And I think they sound great! I have to turn the volume up almost all the way but it sounds great and it doesn't hurt my ears. And even without music playing, they muffle the sound pretty good.
+Sam Rankin I don't. Everyone has there opinions, so I don't bother. I just read the directions that came with my bench grinder. And once a month I drop them off at my dealer to true them up, just to be safe. Still saves me money sharpening them myself throughout the week every month!
Do you run the mulch kit on all your walk behinds? I have a older 52" gandstand and I'll tell you what, its almost unstoppable with the mulch kit. There are just a few weeks in the spring I need to remove it. Just curious if youre getting similar results
Michael Amurgis I feel the exact same way! But I only got the mulch kit on the Grandstand. Don't need it for the walk behind, as it's just a back up right now.
+Lawn Care Rookie would 52 effect anything? In my situation.. I went from a 48 to a 52 this year but only stops me from getting one gate and the yard looks better with my 22 because there are valleys that the 48 couldnt get down deep enough.
+Mow's Lawn & Iron I wish I could stick with the 52" but I couldn't fit in any gates, except for the doubles. I need to fit in every gate! I don't want to switch mowers ever other yard, ya know... But the 48" and 52" are virtually identical. Other than their deck, the engine is 2 HP less... Not a biggie IMO. Man, I can't wait! They have one in stock with my name on it!! :-) I just gotta get my money right, first!
We switched to gatorline and you don’t even have to think about changing the lines. Once every day or every other day or so. Instead of a few times a day.
hey man I was tought if you put your blades on in an H shape it helps discharge the grass out the side so it doesn't cling to the deck as much. Always sucks in the rain though, there's no helping that lol
+Chance Gutierrez This was just a demo. But there are a lot of advantages over a sit down zero turn. I'll be going over my opinion on that in another video!
+Grasspro I find it's quicker and easier every day or every other day and maintains a high quality of cut, when you're cutting tall wet grass, like I have been this month.
+Brandon Addison I meant no disrespect. I was there first, trying to get work done. All of my customers were out admiring my work and dedication, being behind because of the rain and it was getting dark. They all understood. Thanks for watching!

I haven't seen the grandstand you got yet, but that yard with grandstand your gonna love, that machine makes everything fun!
+Daryl Russell
It sure does! :-)

Thanks for the feedback! It was a temporary lawn but opened my eyes to a different type!
I have been trying different trimmer lines all this season so far. I will check that stuff out next.
+C Breezy
What's your favorite so far?
I was using Husqvarna Titanium Force and it is a really strong line that lasts pretty good. Rhino tuff Heavy duty twist is what I am trying right now and it is doing pretty good, I dont think it is lasting as long as the Titanium but the trimmer can seem to spin faster with it.
Lawn Care Life OK
Very interesting about the grandstand not having the engine sitting on the deck. I think that is huge not having that extra weight on there.
+Top Notch Lawn Care
Yeah, they made a great machine even better! :-)
Great video, loves the new big property conversation!
+Cut & Clean Lawn Care
Thanks man!
looking forward to it. thankyou very much.

I want the Toro Grandstand so bad but no money for it. Expensive!
+drbun
Agreed!!

great video
+Silver Lawn Care
Thanks!
Do you have / can you make a video on blade sharpening?
+Sam Rankin
I don't. Everyone has there opinions, so I don't bother. I just read the directions that came with my bench grinder. And once a month I drop them off at my dealer to true them up, just to be safe. Still saves me money sharpening them myself throughout the week every month!

Yeah man get some more on that street and make it an all day route.
+Brandon Rickborn
Yes sir
How much you usually charge for a house that big?
+Robles Lawn Care
It was my first one, so I charged 1.5x my average yard rate. Because it was similar double the size of my average yards.
Triple cut Monday lol I guess I'm glad I had to double cut now
+Grass Daddy
Lol
Gotta get me some of that gatorline. Keep up the good work.
+Grass Snake
You'll never use anything else :-)
Thanks!
Nice mower man, what size cutting deck does it have.

Umm sharpening everyday I'm sure it's something you don't do..
Man, this video is so old, I don't know what you're even talking about... Lol
Thanks for watching 👍
Sharpening blades once a day is unnecessary. I can see every 2-3 days.
+Grasspro
I find it's quicker and easier every day or every other day and maintains a high quality of cut, when you're cutting tall wet grass, like I have been this month.
Wow all I have is a weed eater and four wheels drive push mower
+Fat cat 101
If that's all you need than that's great! That's how I started. Otherwise, start saving...
