Your property is so beautiful , but the new addition of the pond area with the bolders and plantings has elevated your property to a whole new level of "fabulocity"!

"It's like you've been married to me for 16 years" just cracked me up. My husband and I used to disagree so often about design ideas (he's an architect, I'm an artist). Now after 30 years, we don't just usually agree, we often come up with the same ideas.
Love where you placed the two junipers flanking the path. It's amazing what all you've done in just a couple years.

Crazy little tip I always used when rough measuring my plantings was to just used my shovel handle as a measuring stick. That will generally get you close enough so your eye does not detect a difference. Love the idea for an "entrance" to that section of the garden!

Wondering if there might be a hive up in that big tree and that why the bees were buzzing up there. I remember my cousin found a beehive in a very old well that our grandparents dug. She found the old well and all the bees in her garden were living in the well. Amazing. You find bees in some weird places.

Hi Laura. You mentioned the bee's in your tree. You may want to consult a bee keeper to see if they are creating a hive up there. This would be for your safety and the bee's safety. They could be relocated, and, bonus, if you or Aaron are interested, can become bee keeper's as well. Something to think about. Stay safe.

Have you guys considered planting a giant sequoia? They grow everywhere (zone 5 and up), unlike redwoods, that have special requirements.
Your wide open flat land would be perfect for a few - maybe out by the irrigation ditch on the new property, where you don't have any plans for development. It could make a great privacy screen :)

They are in the middle of my itea, loosestrife, and everwhere else. They are hard to get rid of when they are in the middle of another plant.I do cut them down before the "oats "dry. I love the freedom of your garden but you HAVE created great structure with the trees lining the roads, the large row of containers, the arb structure, the boxwood structure, the circle structure with benches as you enter the flower garden and the cottage structure surrounded by fruit trees. This structure balances the free planting style everywhere else and the pond is the ultimate freedom. When the surrounding trees grow up around the pond you’ll have a little bit of magic in that corner. BTW, what’s the plan for the area next to the pond and beside the barn?

I live in Illinois… I planted 1 Northern Sea Oats, it reseeded and has taken over my entire bed. It’s pretty but golly gee!

In our zone 8 (master gardener ornamental) gardens the sea oats are massively invasive. We're constantly pulling them and really regret planting!

Absolutely, thoroughly enjoy your channel, and love watching each video to see how
your gardens grow and change as you add and tweak each area. I have Northern Sea
Oats planted, as well. They do re-seed or spread a bit. I have more in different places I did not
originally plant. But they are not all over the yard. Fairly easy to pull up when small.
Thank you for sharing your garden with all of us.

I love the fish and the pond. Wonderful addition to your property. The south garden is really developing beautifully. The evergreens are beautiful and will really show up this winter. Love all you have done. You make it look easy but I know it's not. Thank You for allowing us to enjoy with you. Have a blessed day!

I had sea oats grasses and they dropped seed and new plants everywhere-invasive for me, so I ripped them out. After some years, I still find them here and their in garden. They are lovely to look at.

I liked the different intro zooming in to the dogwood and the outro feeding the fish. Cool. The junipers flanking each side of the pathway in the South Garden looks awesome! The addition of an arbor will be lovely.

Oooh, maybe you have a bee colony up in that tree! Laura, that's where all the bees from your hives went those times they left.....they stayed on property!

Thanks for the pond fix. It would be great fun to watch the kids play in/out of the pond. Or a family gathering outside before winter comes. Sending loving and peace-filled thoughts to everyone.

Hey there! Everything looking so nice! We have several groupings of northern sea oats in our dry shade garden under silver maples. I prefer to cut the seed heads off of ours in the fall before the seed falls to the ground because here in Ohio they will seed around pretty heavily. We leave the grassy part stand for winter interest. The dangly seed heads make a beautiful addition to add to dried panicle hydrangea bouquets and will keep well at whatever stage you cut them. The seed heads on ours take on a dusty pink color in September and that’s my favorite time to cut them. They would be a great addition to your perennial section of your cut flower garden! Maybe make a video sometime about foliage that hold up well to cutting? Thanks for your great channel and sharing your love of gardening!

I love when you take us on little side trips to see how things are growing. Could you remind me what type of pine that is you pointed out toward the end? I’m thinking it’s not the western white pine we have in eastern Washington?

Bees are attracted to resin that pine trees and Junipers exude, they use it to chew and form propolis which they then use to repair and built their home, its a glue for them.

As your plantings mature, you may find a cherry picker will come in handy.
