As someone who's never even played a Monkey Island game, I got a few chills myself. I had to explain it to my crewmate who didn't get it lol.
The whole feel of the first tale of Pirate's Life was already about nostalgia, the Cursed Captain telling you of how great his time had been with his crew in that lil' shelter they built in the Sea of the Damned. When I found this easter egg and the music started playing it brought tears to my eyes

Man... 1 year ago I had no idea what monkey island was when I stumbled across this easter egg in game, and this theme compelled me to look it up, and so I bought The Curse of Monkey Island thinking it was the first game LMAO. Here I am a year later and Monkey Island is probably my favorite video game franchise. Thank you op for uploading this bc this video is the reason why I got into these games.

Literaly anything from the Monkey Island series is a great asset for SoT.
I’m 14 and I’ve been to Disney world (in Florida, but I live in Canada so it’s pretty far) 10 times or so, meaning I’ve been going there since a very young age. Something about this song gave me a bunch of nostalgia from being there. Every condo I stayed at had either speakers or an actual player playing steel drum music and it sounded a lot like this. The Pirate’s Life update to sea of thieves is the greatest update to any game of all time, quote me on that. Don’t even get me started on how beautifully accurate they got the 3rd or 4th quest to the actual ride in magic kingdom. I’ve been on that thing at least 10 times and they got that stuff near spot on.
You got to go play Monkey Island if you havn't already.

Wait... so there’s a universe where Monkey Island and Pirates of the Caribbean meet. Lol. Which is hilarious because both are inspired by On Stranger Tides and POTC was made from a recycled Mikey Island script.
Actually POTC was before Monkey Island. Monkey Island took inspiration from the ride Pirates of the Caribbean - like the dog being named Walt in MI2 etc.

It sounds like the 'indoors' version of the Monkey Island theme. If you are familiar with the Skylanders Giants soundtrack you will understand what I mean.

i came when i found the easter egg and the monkey island theme cued in
Idk why, but when I heard this in the game, it gave me like a fun playful feeling. It felt weird.
Ya know, I'm starting to wonder if we'll see more from both Monkey Island and Pirates of the Caribbean in Sea of Thieves. I'm personally curious to see a potential reference or even appearance of Guybrush, Elaine, Murray, and perhaps even LeChuck himself. As for the Pirates of the Caribbean side of things, well, while it would be cool to see more characters from the films (such as Barbossa), I want to see a villain that never made his appearance in the films, but was certainly a cursed pirate that could even give LeChuck and Graymarrow a run for their money: Jolly Roger, from the Pirates of the Caribbean Online game. It really makes you wonder, since the Dark Brethren have the Warsmith, Duke, the Gold Hoarder and Davy Jones, as well as the mysterious "Cap'n", Flameheart and his son are going to need their own special forces. Granted, they tried and failed to fully bring Graymarrow back from the grave, but they could recruit the likes of LeChuck and Jolly Roger, two heavyweights among pirates who specialize in dark powers, and could possess the ability to fully raise Graymarrow back from the dead instead of summoning a mere imprint of his soul.

@@buasfe6986 I haven't played it yet but I was beyond thrilled and hyped when I saw the trailer. Rare did a wonderfully fantastic job bringing the world of Monkey Island to life in the Sea of Thieves, and they certainly have an eye for the finer details; the shifting pattern on Stan's jacket alone is testament to that!
Guybrush looks as fantastic and derpy as ever, albeit with more facial hair than what he had in Tales of Monkey Island. Though it's understandable, given how one of the Pirate Lords mentions that he hasn't set foot out of the mansion for almost a year, and how the Voodoo Lady says that LeChuck has turned the memories of this island into a prison for Guybrush. And speaking of that wonderful rotting husk, once again, Rare did an amazing job with LeChuck. A nice mix of skeleton and voodoo zombie, and those glowing red eyes. Ik some fans will have an issue with the fact that, just as it was the case for Return to Monkey Island, LeChuck is not voiced by the legendary Earl Boen, but not even the prospect of a new Monkey Island game, helmed by Ron Gilbert himself no less was enough to bring Boen out of retirement. And since Boen has sadly since passed away back in January, that meant Rare had to rely on Jess Harnell, who in the opinion of this salty old pirate, still does an outstanding and fantastic job at bringing G.P. LeChuck to life. And Rare's rendition of the iconic voodoo pirate really fits with Harnell's take on LeChuck.
I haven't watched any other videos yet that would spoil this for me, but I can only imagine that if we get to see other Monkey Island mainstays, such as Elaine Marley-Threepwood, Wally B. Feed, and maybe even Morgan LeFlay.
The fact we get to see the Black Pearl at Stan's at least gives me hope for a future POTC Tall Tale, maybe a full mash up with Monkey Island. I hold my suspicions that LeChuck will choose to side with Flameheart and his son rather than the Dark Brethren, partly because he's had his own experiences with fire (Curse of Monkey Island), and being a zombie pirate who has come back from the dead time and time again, he'd be at odds with Davy Jones, who stated in A Pirate's Life that "A world without the eternal abyss is a world that refuses to face the truth: nothing lasts forever!"
And if we do get something like a PoTC/MI/SoT mashup, even if it's very unlikely, I want to see Jolly Roger make his debut and really put some pressure on us players.
