This is probably my most classical music inspired arrangement I have ever done and one of my personal favorite videos this year! It took me a long time to figure out every small detail for each variation but the result was really worth it. If you like this kind of special type videos, I will do more of them in the future!
Theme: the Lit as we know and love Var. 1: Lit but Mozart came and said hi Var. 2: Lit but is it a polonaise? Var. 3: Lit x Un sospiro Var. 4: Lit x Chopin Var. 5: Lit but its played like an emotional orchestral piece Theme: well I guess we are home now Take these with a grain of salt lol.
@@ju5tm398 I see it too. If i were to generalise, the wide arpeggios is what famously resembles Un Sospiro, but has a blend of harmonies from liebestraum, particularly this segment @ 2:22-2:26. A very liebestraum-esque moment.
This is one of those “never knew I needed” moments. Honestly, it’ so fascinating what you can do with two simple melodies without sounding repetitive. Thank you for this upload!
What a beautiful arrangement! I really loved the Variation 4 in C# minor - it adds a lot of contrasting emotions to the mix (kind of like the famous Var. 18 of the Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini) I've always been a big fan of variations. The theme is like a blank canvas and you can create so many different paintings on it.
Hey!!! Just saying I love listening to your anime playlists/live playing. It's good to draw to and just listen to in general. Glad to see you here on Animenz's channel.
I also absolutely love the 18th variation from Rachmaninoffs Rhapsody because it felt like it opened a whole new world with the introduction of a major key. I was also totally mind blown when I found out that beautiful melody was a "upside-down" variation of the original Paganini Melody theme because without looking at the sheet, you would never notice it
@@Animenzzz still tonal... U could move to atonal ay the end... Its a natural prpgression from in tone to modulations change of major and minor keys then to jazz and atonal
These variation be like my emotion when I'm watching the movie, there was scene of happy, sad , anger , confuse, struggling. Basically, this movie reflects the facts of reality world, sometimes a person, no matter how much difficulties she/he is facing, they kept silence, and what they really wanna receive from you was " Yes, I'm here"..... The buildup in the end really hits me. *Thank You Animenz! Love this!
I haven't commented in a while due to being insanely busy lately, but for this one, I absolutely had to find the time. I have always, always loved your classical-inspired arrangements - creating something like this feels like such a feat to pull off, and I've only ever seen you truly get the feel right, combining the two. I listened to this one while it was premiering and I just had this massive grin on my face, thinking, "That's it!!!". I've missed this style of arranging from you, though I guess this one is next level in the classical influence department! And the melody of "Lit" fit so perfectly in every variation I'm still in awe. I don't think it makes much sense for me to take apart little segments since every variation is so distinct, so I'll just focus on that. 0:47 The first variation serves as a perfect introduction to let us know that yes, we're in classical territory now 1:23 okay THIS ONE, combining the context of the movie with the playful take on the melody honestly made me think "bittersweet," which is probably my single most favorite feeling something can evoke, absolutely loved this variation 1:55 this one is just gorgeous, flowing arpeggios, so pleasant to listen to 2:38 still in the third variation, that ending when the melody comes together is so satisfying so pretty, I love it 2:56 this is exactly the contrast I needed, my classical knowledge is extremely limited so I can only say that I love how it sounds, and I really, really love how that one sounds 3:54 oh variation V... we're really in it now with that build up 4:20 watch me break down into uncontrollable sobbing (internally), I'm serious though I loved that climax SO MUCH listening to it makes me emotional and I keep listening to it again and again 4:37 THOSE RUNS and the whole thing honestly ;-; just the whole thing I love it so much I stop being coherent when trying to convey it, orchestra but it's just a piano 4:57 and just this once I wish that part from before carried just a bit longer, maybe for another repeat because I love it so much and I don't want it to end, but that's just me being greedy haha 5:08 this is a lovely ending though, fitting end of a musical journey If I heard this live I'd be cheering through tears by the end, honestly. Also I LOVED the little sheet music snippets included! Helped visualize what was going on, and I'm sure whoever ends up transcribing this one is going to appreciate it! Also really liked the insights you put in the description, always great to read up on the thoughts behind a piece To finish this off, this is definitely one of my favorite arrangements you have ever done. Hooray for classically inspired music!! I'd love more special-type arrangements in this style!
Very late reply but thank you for your awesome commentary! I wish I have more of those days when my inspiration just makes ”click” and I can almost effortlessly make these kind of classical inspired arrangement. The last time I had such a huge “click” was probably either HERE from Mahoutsukai no Yome or the My dearest 10 year anniversary video. Either way, thank you for following my channel for all those years! I hope my next “click” is not so far away in the future!
Oh boy this one was a feels punch. Today’s the 5th anniversary of my grandmother passing away so I was listening to Lit(var) this morning. Granted then I hadn’t heard the song but now it’s been somewhat of an escape when I’ve having a hard time, so when I saw this pop up on my recommended, I damn near cried. This was truly a beautiful arrangement Animenz and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for creating this.
OK, seriously. This has become my favorite piece of music of anything and apparently not many people know this, wtf? Animenz you're honestly just amazing. This is such a great arrangement. Really feels like it was just meant to be. Huge props. Thank you so much for this.
The one anime that I could fully relate with the characters and that affected my life in a good way. The soundtrack "lit(var)" has been my most listened to song in my entire experience of listening music. I actually commented requesting it and now we got 5 variations as well. I can die in peace.
One of your most "classical" arrangement for sure. I think that this is one of the best example of the bridge you want to build between anime music and classical music. Well structured, almost natural , very beautiful and still very original. Thank you for your arrangements, it means a lot to me to see you upload !
I remember how "Lit" made the whole movie like 10 times better. I love how the emotion is portrayed in the song and Animenz (of course) did an amazing job
Ikr! I wasn't showing any emotions until 'lit' came, and seeing shoya in the middle of a crowd, with all the 'x' falling down with this music in the background. I cried like a baby!🥲🥲 this is the best moment of the movie
One of the most creative piano arrangement I've seen. The perfect blend of classical influence and J-pop bittersweet melody and chord : something only Animenz can do. Well done my friend! I haven't been so impressed and awe-struck from a piano arrangement in a long time!
You’re an artist of the secret world, and a teacher of no small influence. To this day, you still inspire me to the maximum extent. Holy crap this is awesome!!! It's like you just composed many different OST's all build around the "lit" theme, so many different moods in here, it's amazing!!! I swear at this point you could compose the soundtrack for an entire movie only using variations of one theme!
Yesterday I visited the lovely woman who was my piano teacher for four years at her hourse. She was in connected to those ICU machines with several family members along her. In her room I played Liebestraum n°3 at her side, with the repetitive beeps and sounds of the machines keeping her alive accompanying the piece. Then, after some talking downstairs I played once again in the piano where she had been teaching me before the pandemic (after we continued having class online)... I didn't have much time to chose, I thought of playing Chopin's first ballad, one of the last pieces she taught me, which made sense considering how it related with Shigatsu and death. But I chose a piece she never taught me and had never heard me play to be my goodbye, a piece that I would have never been able to play without her teachings, a piece that merged both the classical, older world she lived in, and the love I bear for all kinds of music and the world of anime. A piece I see as symbol of rebirth. Today at 8 a.m. she died, while being close to her loved ones. I'd like to thank you Animenz, for making me be even more passionate for piano than I was before, for making me get better one step at a time to be able to play your pieces, for how thanks to them I was able to play the songs she loved to hear. Thank you for letting your arrangement of Lit be my goodbye to her.
Wow. Absolutely love the creativity in the different variations! As one who is personally biased towards grandiose arpeggiated styles, Variation III and V are my favorite! Moreover, even with distinct styles, each variation seamlessly meshes together smoothly, culminating in the wonderful climax. As always, the Animenz attention to detail in making the countermelodies (red and blue in this instance) stand out is unparalled. I would definitely love to see more arrangements consisting of variations off of a single theme in the future! Thanks as always for the wonderful and thoughtfully arranged music 🙂
This is arguably and unironically the best sets of impros I have ever heard on a single song. The transitions were perfection, yet the way how each variation had an evidently distinct style to it was absolutely magnifuque ✨ not to mention the ability to execute them with such amazing control. You really have amazing application of your vast musical knowledge. And I really appreciate it that you left your thought process and everything in the description ❤️
Must admit, 4:19 is probably my favourite part... So emotional with the built-up tension just before. Also in the part at 4:37, the right hand is WONDERFUL. Animenz, you're a true artist and a fabulous composer. Much appreciation
Animenz, you are evolving! All of these different styles were brilliant, and to be honest, it made me think of Food Wars and having five different delicious flavors on a plate. Thanks for letting us inside your mind as usual with the long descriptions and visuals this time!
I just watched A Silent Voice. I watched it in school and then got home and rewatched it again. Dude, I have to say it’s peak. Literally. I’m gonna start watching more of these type of anime movies because wow, I loved A Silent Voice so much.
i got chills, this is a goddamn masterpiece. the variation patterns are so beautifully written, the submelodies and melodies are just amazingly done; i can hear them so prominently and its great. the arpeggios in the 3rd variation are just so beautiful and the waltz in the 4th variation gives serious bone chilling victorian feelings, and it sounds so amazing.
This was special. I respect that you discuss notable workings of each variation in the description. I think this would be an amazing study sample, especially for breaking down re-arrangement & composition.
It single-handedly got me into anime, even tho i used to give it shit for the longest time. Watched it in Feb 2020 n I've never looked back. Ive watched over 200 different seasons of anime since, and Koe no Katachi is still one of my two 10/10 anime, with the other being Liz and the Bluebird.
I loved the way you insert the sheets on the screen to make easy for us to understand what's is happening, you should do more of this on future .I remember the first time I watched one of yours covers , the two things more called my attention was how you made variations ( specially in the left hand , I love how you create the most perfect bass lines on it and when you do the melody on left hand is also amazing) and how your covers sound unique . I Would like to know how you create your dynamics, do you improvise too , make error and trial , can you talk a little about that?
Thank you for showing us the snippets of the score to show what is being varied, and explaining them in the description :))) 💛💛💛 I always love how you make and play the "three hands illusion" like in many classical compositions (e.g. Liebesträume and many Rach's) and how you insert lots lots lotsss of beautiful scales and arpeggios :') I love classical music and anime, and you combined them both! 😆 Your arrangements really are inspiring 💛
Each variation portrays different emotions. I can feel my facial expression change as new variations get introduced. Pretty incredible how this all came from just one song.
Thank you so much for showing the music sheet!!! Seriously! You have no idea how much that means to me. I play piano (on a basic level) but my teacher made me focus so much on sheets it's really hard for me to just understand with my ears. So this is really so helpful to me! Thank you!
all these fancy variations making me feel like im wearing a top hat, suit and monocle crying and wiping with my white napkin in the beauty of this arrangement. My personal favorite out of these amazing variation is the 5th. Best improv anime piano cover I've seen so far
It may not be the most technically difficult piece to play, but with the variations that reflect similar emotions portrayed in the movie, combined with a multitude of different styles, you sure know how to wow your audience. What a masterpiece you've created
I think this is a very nice arrangement for those who like classical music. I recently started listening to LANG LANG's La Campanella and Turkish March and became interested in classical music, so I was very impressed.
Lit will always be one of my favorite anime songs on the piano. The story and the music just compliment each other so well. There are some emotions and feelings that cannot be conveyed by words alone, this is what makes music so beautiful.
Holy hell dude, I got goosebumps whenever the main melodies appeared in the variations and they "clicked". The original soundtrack is amazing, and this is really, really well done. Thank you for the massive feels!!
I love these kinds of variations, cause you can not only see how a pianist thinks and what he likes, but you also learn a lot about music composition! Looking forward to more!
Absolutely beautiful, I initially listened to Fonzi M’s 4 minute piano arrangement of Lit, and I cried the entirety of those 4 minutes, I love how this beautiful rendition of classical music from creators like Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff create this amazing song from my favorite anime movie! Bravo, Animenz, you are the true GOAT today!
This was so much fun! I would love to see more of this types of videos in the future! Reading the description while listening was so moving, it's amazing the work he puts into the arrangements
These variations are all gorgeous, I recently watched the movie and loved it so much, especially the scene towards the end where this amazing song starts playing! Thanks again Animenz
I usually don't comment but... dang, this arrangement really resonated with me. This just makes me soooo happy cuz I love anime music AND classical music. Thank you Animenz, for the amazing arrangement! 😭😭
I live to hear majestic pieces like these from animenz. What a time to be alive, and how blessed am I to be able to enjoy such majestically crafted pieces~
This is absolutely gorgeous. I loved reading the breakdowns of each variation in the description. Can’t wait to see more of these! Also hope this ends up on streaming platforms
Also, this was cut out from the chat since it happened before the premiere, but we might be seeing an OST themed month sometime in the future, as well as an Your Lie in April special video series! And Animenz said to expect many more "theme" months as well! Just putting it here for posterity (also because Animenz told us to leave a comment for the algorithm lol) :)
I really hope he includes Haikyuu OST and "Yuri on Ice" OST should he make the OST themed month. Looking forward to what animenz has in store for his fans!
I love A Silent Voice so very much, so I really enjoyed what you did with the music!! The variations are really clever and add a lot of feeling and emotion to the existing piece. 3:55 and the rest of that variation might have been one of my favorite parts.
Wow!!! I really have loved this creative experminent. I really would like to have the piano pdf of this. I want lo learn it! Jajaja Thanks Animenz. The years past and you still here, because music never ends! Thankyou 💖🎶
I never really comment on your videos but this just resonated differently. I love the idea of variations and you have really managed to walk me through so many different emotions here. Reading the description along side the video just amazed me even more due to the sheer amount of creativity that must have been required to make this work. It's almost funny how I thought not too long ago "Imagine someone would make variations of an anime theme" and here you are. It will definitely be interesting to see what else you can muster in your mission to merge classical with anime music; for now, this here must be my personal highlight of yours in that regard :D
This is probably my most classical music inspired arrangement I have ever done and one of my personal favorite videos this year!

Emotions built up in me till variation 4, but I just bursted out on variation 5 . Love you animenz and thank you for this beautiful arrangement
いつも最高の演奏と編曲をありがとうございます!!!
Thank you!
This has been my favorite Animenz video in years!! What a phenomenal arrangement.
all these fancy variations making me feel like im wearing a top hat, suit and monocle crying and wiping with my white napkin in the beauty of this arrangement.
Love reading Animenz’s descriptions. It feels like I could get a glimpse of how music works in his mind.
このフレーズはクラシックとACG musicの愛の結晶w。いつもありがとうございました。
2 main melodies expressed in the most beautiful variations. The feels man.... :(
please keep making these they’re so good and i love reading the descriptions you have
"Animenz Explains" is always so fun to read! 10/10
that dim7 chord in 2:34 is really giving the passage a exceptional feeling
Your played 'lit' while being very lit. Excellent
This song means a lot to me
When you played the first few notes I got chills. this movie really made me cry, and so did this cover.
You covered 5 anime movie soundtracks in a row. Coincidentally, these movies are probably my favorites
truly enjoyed it as an amateurish pianist
nice also to learn some classical concepts
thanks for the virtuosity :)
"The Well Tempered Piano" by Animenz. Awesome arrangements!
Try to realize that everytime Animenz plays his own piano style he always does "tryhard" which is epic.
MORE PLEASE 🥲 I love this piece and I love this arrangement
All of variation is AMAZING!! my most favorite part is variation 5
All in all is Amazing!
I love LIT so much and the movie i can't get bored watching it
I always love reading the description while I listen to your arrangements, it makes the experience better.
This is really great! Hope you can make more of these! Turning a simple piece into classical music style variations!
Wow variation 5 gave me goosebumps
This is too good 🥲
Thank you, Animenz, for the unprecedented and amazing piano experiment!
Each variation gives different feelings, and amazing on its own ways. My favourite is the 4th btw.
Already know this will be a masterpiece
My favourite of all time
This was so much fun!
4:29 So epic and full of emotion that the whole keyboard and moon lamp is shaking! Love, love, love this whole arrangement!
This was beautiful.
Hands down, really one of the best if not the best pianist in youtube. ✊❤️👏
This gonna be lit.
SHEESHHHHH
Thank you Animenz for Mixing up my Two Favorite Music Genres In the Best way possible.
Two words come to mind - classically trained. So good.
And yep, the great explanation in the description reaffirms.
Damn, variation 5 hit hard
I like what you did with taking us back home with the theme repeat. Reminds me of bachs goldberg variations
This is absolutely gorgeous. I loved reading the breakdowns of each variation in the description. Can’t wait to see more of these! Also hope this ends up on streaming platforms
This is beautiful and I really enjoy reading what you wrote in the description box to understand how each variation was composed ❤️
久しぶりに聞きに来たら神みたいなの出してるじゃん!!!!
IMO this film has the most life lessons,
I recommend everyone to watch it
i think it’s the only anime nobody can hate imo
@@skyfire7285 i totally agree
Thankyou 💖🎶
Make more of these! I think a lot of people appreciate the classical influence. I loved it :)
“lit” is one of my favorite anime ost’s of all time! Thanks for doing this :)
Masterpiece
Magnificent. 💫✨
came back to this more than i thought i would. beautiful composition
Always great to hear any Ost from Koe no Katachi, brings out the emotions out of me.
